I am watching from UK. I have just bought some of these ties. I already worked out that it's best to fold it over. But l never knew there was a BB in there. So your upload was very informative. Many thanks.
Great for exhaust system insulation (race only - don't insulate street systems or they will fail), and several header/turbo companies sell the same thing at greatly exaggerated price points. I use a cutoff wheel (when handy), leaving the tail a bit long and then use fine needlenose to roll the end under. You can leave them like that or once rolled under give a squeeze to to flatten the loop. A gentle rap with a hammer closes the loop as well.
Hi Catus. I need your help, please! My car's hood latch release cable sags just enough, in the taut position, that it drops below the protective divider wall which would keep it away from the radiator. Because of the few times the cable has touched the radiator, the insulation has melted where contact occurred. If the edges of those tie straps aren't crazy sharp, could I very loosely loop a few down and through the existing openings of that divider wall to keep the latch cable from sagging downwards? My concern with using plastic is the melt point vs. stainless steel rated to 542Fahrenheit, which is what I have. Alternatively, should I pull the line taut at the inside release and clamp them on to increase the tension? Thanks in advance. 🤔🤞
I was trying to use this with a band-it tool. I couldn't figure how to crimp them. I have to say the tool did work well to tension them. didn't realize they had the ball catch in them. cool, thanks for the review
putting up privacy fabric on the chainlink, not convenient to keep going to the other side to tie off, i will put a u bend and avoid the neighbors yard, use standered plasic ones on places i can reach, pretty good value on these.
These are stronger than plastic ties obviously but it's really difficult to actually tighten them as strongly as you would with plastic ones. They're always kinda loose.
Dealing with the same thing, I really don’t get the hype. Trying to use them on steering rack boots and they just don’t get tight and the ball catch doesn’t work worth a shit.
Is there anyway to releae the locking mechanism? With plastic ties, you can release the catch using a fine flat blade screw driver or similar to push on the catch, open it up.
it uses a ball bearing on a ramp, take another metal zip tie and push it under the ball b ut you have to push with the existing tab together at the same time to relieve pressie to get it to slide under
Another major plus over the plastic zip ties are the plastic usually do not do well in the ultraviolet light or in hot areas like a engine room or compartment As you mentioned they are excellent in marine engine rooms where there are lots of sheathed cables for controls for throttles and transmissions and steering etc i found that most plastic ties would not hold up very long in that enviorment ?
I have never found a good use for these anywhere. The best application is on exhaust wrap which in itself is not a good thing. CV boots is about the only thing they work on. Improperly set they trash those too.
T&B sells a tool that makes using these ties easy and tight. Picture a rod in a screwdriver handle. This rod has a slit that fits the thickness of the tie, the slit is a bout 3/8 deep. Put tie on, snug by pulling with pliers. Cut tie and leave a tail about 1 inch long. Take tool and slide tail in to it. Twist like a screwdriver and you can really get them tight. The sharp edges safe inside the resulting coil. Out side of the Télécom industry, these ties are only good on cv boots.

Great demonstration thank you I haven't used these yet
I was very impressed on how thorough your review was, keep up the good work bro
Thanks

those would be great for restraining my victims, i mean projects i work on.
Todd Kohlhepp used to make comments like this in a facebook group i was in. Turned out he wasn't lying. Not the kind of joke i make anymore.

Nothing will dull a tool like stainless steel

There have been a lot of places I could have used those in. Thanks for the video.
Can you crimp these with pliers to permanently stop them from tightening more? I want to use them as a ring you can slip off and off a tube!
Very cool nice to have em handy in a pinch

Should use the cutter right on the slip-joint pliers. Tip! Most people don't know that's there.
I should tell you that infamous is a negative term.

The trick is the pull them as tight as you can and then fold over the excess to lock it in place

Is there anything similar with round wire? Like 16 gauge?
I do appreciate the tutorial 👍 ...and of course Murphy’s Law in full affect

Are these good to use on people you don't want to escape
My cringy videos are more effective...

I did not realize they had those in store I bought mine online
Didn't know about these, thanks!
Never seen these before
Thank you!

Several beers later. If you mean legion I apologize for my earlier reply. That made it make sense.
@@upsidedowndog1256 lol nope I meant "Lejon" look up "Shrimp Lejon" then extrapolate as needed. ;-)
CatusMaximus has great reviews for EVERYTHING!!!!!!!
Any one use these for tie rod boot
Yes I have 💪😎👍
Probably good for heat shields that rattle
Love these! Used them to tie up my chicken wire on my run. 😁
That is awesome!
Good video 👍.

The magic words: stainless steel cable tie gun tool
Thanks me later
cool, ive seen those at HF and always wondered about them
I just checked, all they have is the same ties as amazon...
👍
You sound like Jeff Goldblum and I want more
*********************** Work the tail back and forth against the buckle and it will break off clean
"Infamous"? I take it you don't have access to a dictionary 😂!
bout $10 for 100 at walmart .com on closeout lots of sizes
Looks like a trailer seal. But trailer seals aren't stainless steel.
sweet didnt know they carried these.
on close out at walmart .com
These are total junk. Even with the special tool to tighten them, they don't get tight and end up breaking the area where the ball is.
FFS....Scissors and pliers...🙄 Get the right tool for the job...
NOTICE HE CANNOT GET THESE TIGHT, ONLY SNUG.
12-6=6 it's always been that way! I don't know what your talking about. I'll send you a link.
Made in China .......
