This song is beautiful, I would love to hear it live with the artistic quality that the musicians who accompanied Sufjan had at Live on Austin City Limits. There is so much that is unnecessary in this version. The song is still beautiful though.. and the lyrics!
something that's baffling me, why is it that every Sufjan live performance I see, the crowd sounds dead, nobody sings along, no one cheers or dances, wtf?
As someone who was at this set, it was actually pretty amazing! People were TOTALLY engaged the entire time. He was planning some more quiet solo pieces and you could have heard someone fart...totally unheard of at festivals!
i love this song and the entire album, but it almost feels like he's trying to recreate a youthful type thing and some of these performances come off odd. i hope he's taking care of himself better
One of my favorite songs of all time.
"Illness like... to prey upon the lonely--prey upon the lonely..." This song has such a good lyrics!
I wish Sufjan could be his own live Sound guy
Agreed.
This is such a different vibe from the way the song itself sounds...
I'm in the audience! I was there with my now ex wife when we were just dating. I was so tired and dehydrated. The energy was great tho
"Thank you, I feel better"
Upload more! I need some (all) of that Moses Sumney set.
what's up with the sound quality?
Not sure what's up with this mix. I was there and this video doesn't do the performance justice at all.
More Sufjan and some Miguel and FKA twigs please 🙏
Upload impossible soul, you hacks.
id save data and take seven swans if this is too big an ask.
lol at this sound quality
i need a Seven Swans upload
please post his Kiss cover!!

they mixed out the crowd singing lol
This performance was kind of all over the place. A real mess in the beginning but decent towards the end.
pulls it off again! my initial feelings being not...he does it. hell's teeth that's good!
Moses Sumney is there.... oh boy I love this
Awful Mixing
They didn't capture Sufjan's solo :(
Atleast I could hear it a little
I realised the brass aren't too

The background singer just ruins it for me I can barely hear his voice.

also what's with the almost sexual nature of the back ups
i think hes just being his erratic self which yeah does come off odd
Sounds weird 2 tones lower… odd choice
