35 years married here and my husband wrote on the flowers he gave me "I love you most of the time". I think you will get it! We are happy and have a healthy relationship filled with humor that may not be understood by all...and that is okay

Kevin your jumper took my breath away its gorgeous!!! Honestly I cannot wait to see you wearing it. Ray I love the blanket you crocheted too. The colours are so pretty. Thank you so much for the Stephen West knitting pattern that I won. Im going to have a look in my stash & see what I can sort out for the Mkal so I will tackle the pattern after that. I think all your mini skeins and your "leftovers" would make a beautiful mitered square blanket. Not too heavy in fingering weight, easy to pick up and put down, and Ray already has the random selection thing down pat. I loved making one.

That said, I got distracted by a noise outside, so I popped up without pausing the podcast and peeked out the blinds at THE EXACT MOMENT you said "9-inch circulars" Ray. It startled me for a moment and I thought my soul left my body! 🤣🤣 Also, I just have to say I love your relationship. The banter between the two of you reminds me of myself and my husband. I only met my great grandmother (my fathers grandmother) once or twice, I was quite young in the late 1960's or early 1970's. My memory was that her house was dark and her eyesight was very poor. She did not worry about lighting when she crochet, as she crochet mostly by feel. I thought this was strange at the time but now very inspirational. I was lucky to have such amazing women in my life. My mum and her mother were also inspirational as well as my very crafty sisters and brother (who spins)....

If you live near a yarn store, check to see if they offer classes and if they have a regular knitting meet up. Most of us who have lots of experience (60+ years for me) are happy to share tips and tricks you may not be able to find readily at TH-cam University.

    • @katpraeuner9794
      @katpraeuner9794 2 ปีที่แล้ว

I learned to knit from my mom years ago. Knit a scarf then nothing for many years. Picked it up again when my daughter was born and have been knitting off and on ever since. Really got into it when I found you tube tutorials. The main reason I didn't stick with it early on is because I didn't have any way of knowing I was doing it right or not. I would get frustrated and put it all away. So my journey was fraught with frustration. I taught my daughter how to knit (youngest) when she was in college. I look at what Ray accomplishes with just 3 years of experience and I'm not anywhere near that point. I just learned about Brioche! Haven't tried it yet. If you haven't joined Ravelry, do. There is a lot of free patterns there and you can connect with other knitters if you want that. Also many of the makers are there and you can ask questions about their patterns if you are having trouble. I agree if you have a local yarn store, definitely check them out. Most are very willing to help a new knitter and have classes you can take. Once you get the basics down, you can really branch out and do fun, exciting patterns.

I'm a Batik artist and I've been binge watching Steven videos. I've been analyzing Steven's color combinations in the mystery shawls. The other knit channel makers that did the mystery shawls used their own color choices. After seeing many, I realized his "POP" of color is the key element. It is easy to research the shawls of others on the internet. If you have trouble with West's colors, look for other examples.

Ray you did a excellent job on the c2c (corner to corner) blanket, I never put borders on my C2C blankets and if I do it's just a simple round or 2 of SC( single crochet). There's plenty of TH-cam tutorials on it.

The 1st time was when you said this episode wasn't going to be that long (not 2.5 hours) I immediately laughed and thought of course ;) and was considering watching this episode in bed because it's now at 1.15hr and it's 0.30 here am The orange series of yarn you made with that gray in it is gorgeous!

I try to make them for all the little ones. Nothing cuter than an infant in a pumpkin hat. I have not podcast for awhile! Hoped to do it this weekend, but just didn't get to it. Plus still dealing with internet issues. We only have it about 1/2 a day, each day! Have an appointment for the 23rd!!! They say it is a issue with our line.....such BS.....they are out here every couple of months for issues.....First week of school was good, but HOT! Hi guys!!!
Has it REALLY been 2 weeks!?!?
Really enjoyed the make along (all 5 separate projects!! & no Instagram 🤷) so fun, and knew I wouldn't win, but congratulations to everyone who did!! 🥰
In the last two weeks...I bought new furniture (first time in literally years!!!)
Couch, chair, love seat and area rug....
They said it would be two deliveries, I was good with that....a week later, I cleared out my living room, next day I get the first half...
Chair, loveseat and rug...... getting it set up, the loveseat had a BIG rip on the back.. obviously from the factory 🤬....so for a week only have a chair, luckily, it's just me.... A week later, I get my replacement loveseat, it's perfect!!! I inquire about my couch, it's going to be delivered on the 17th.........
    of OCTOBER!! sigh.
Thinking about Stephen West this year but I have SO many WIPs. 😭 So want a kit!! Gonna dig in deep stash, but I don't have many tonals.
I adore the baby blanket!! I always worry about newborns and wool though.
US sizing on crochet hooks are letters, I STILL have the set my grandmother gave me!!! (I'm now retired 😉)
    Kevin, the sweater is gorgeous!!!
I love the green SW shawl, my favorite color!!
I always LOVE the new acquisitions, I always have to stop myself.
    🤣😂🤣😂
    You guys are the cutest!!
    Have a fantastic holiday weekend!!
It's supposed to be 113°+ by Monday here. 🥵
Pssssssst, during the podcast I was arranging my stash, I found some EFA kits that were "3-skein mystery oopsy kits" I ordered several months ago....one was pale pink, probably my least favorite color.
BUT another kit was a pretty purpley whateverish wineish color that was paired with a deep grey skein, that plays well with the pink (OR I can use the gorgeous speckly stripey grey white pink & purple hank that came with the pink kit)..... OMG!! I think I have a SW "kit"!!!

I'm late watching this. It has been a busy Labor Day weekend.i always love your yarn and pattern choices. The little pumpkin hat is ( in your famous words ) super cute!!!!! I am going to start something from The Icelandic Shop. The heat isn't quite so bad. It's beginning to feel like pumpkin spice weather! Glad you are feeling better! Sorry about your toe and dishwasher. You have three choices, pay repair, buy new dishwasher or do the dishes by hand!!!!! Wonder which you will choose?!!!!! You like to talk about Rhinebeck. I have heard of it but have nobody who likes to knit like I do so never thought of attending. Couple years ago I got an invite but I couldn't go. I always wondered what I missed but no more! While looking through TH-cam, videos started popping up for me. Does TH-cam read your mind? These Kristy Glass videos about Rhinebeck sweaters showed up for me. OMGosh l know what I am missing. I don't think I could handle it. I wasn't there and was overwhelmed. Don't worry about finishing your Rhinebeck items. There were people there wearing half completed items and one woman had a hat on with the needles attached!!! It really looks like a dynamite event. Who knows, maybe some day.....but would I make it out sane? How big is that place? It looks huge. Have fun ( I know you will) at Rhinebeck. Will you do any videos or just an after talk? You are slowly inspiring me to make a shawl but which one????? I also watched Sam's video. I asked him how much yarn it held, hahaha 🤣😂😂!
