I echoed a lot of your sentiments about this system. I also IMMEDIATELY bought this upon release- mostly bc i trust the brand, ive never had a gel system before and i loved the ease/readiness of the system. They took all of the guess work out of wondering what is necessary for a gel manicure, the instructions were super clear and its all very user friendly. Another commenter said their nails popped off the day of application - that also happened to me on my first try! I attributed it to user error and my next try went so much better. Nail prep is SO KEY. I also love to switch out my color often- i hate the commitment time of gel but i love the staying power and the peel off base helps with all of those things. Initially i didnt even think i needed the peel off base, but it came in the kit so i was like, ok fine. Now i love it! I know that gel polish is thicker and goopier in general- no matter what brand- so it was just a learning curve and now its so easy. Id love to know what other brands of gel you can incorporate into this system 🤔
I tried this system for the first time this week. I have never done gel nails at home. The nail polish was so goopy and hard to work with (also my house is cold) so I placed the polishes in a little bowl of boiling water to reduce the viscosity. That helped a lot but I'm used to using regular polish where I "float" the final color coat and add a thick goop of top coat so I I went overboard with this polish. I love the poppy because I don't have great dexterity and it really helps keep my hand steady. I always use the cuticle remover and it makes such a difference in the look of my manicure. I really like this system so far. Thanks for sharing!
I would have loved to have seen you actually applying this product. I am a manicurist and I’m always curious how consumers use “at-home” products. I happen to love this system and I do use it on my clients since I’ve purchased it. I also ordered a whole kit for my personal “at-home” use. I think every product takes some sort of practice. I got 7 full days with the peel off base coat. I washed off all of the cuticle softener and I prepped with the O & J polish remover. The company offers online classes on how to use their products which I highly recommend. You can ask questions and learn any tips you may need. You can also follow the video instructions on their youtube channel. The quality of this product is comparable to most gels, the shine on the top coat lasts nicely and I got a full 3 weeks of wear on my gel manicure. I removed it because my nails grow fast. I do not intermingle any other brand with this line on myself or my clients. I’m not saying they won’t work with other products, it’s just not something I do with gel products. The removal on the regular gel took a full 15 minutes and the bottom base coat comes off in a bit of a sticky layer. My nails were fine underneath. I think the cons of this product are the gels don’t all have the matching polish available and the color line is not very big just yet. It would be nice if they create seasonal colors that always have the matching gels. If you are a professional I would recommend this product. The quality is there and the price point, especially now with the sale is a great savings for any small business. ❤😊🎉 Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this line. I’m glad you enjoyed it. It’s super cute packaging as well. 🎀
I bought this kit and tried the Obsessed color as well and was so annoyed when 3 hrs later, my gel nails started popping off in one piece. I used the easy peel base and I ended up painting my nails AGAIN and within an hour, my nails still peeled and I’m so ready to send it back. The polishes are really thick and goopy. Even during the first application, the Obsessed color got thick and stringy. I like Manucurist’s system but wish it had the shine of Olive & June’s system!
Ugh I’m sorry, that’s really frustrating! It def takes a while to get used to using a polish that thick. If I don’t use a nail dehydrator I find that no matter the type of gel it doesn’t last long on me. Have you tried using a dehydrator?
That happened to me. But I tested another method and it worked great! You have to put the peel off only on the center on the nail, not the edges around the nail. Let it air dry, it'll go from shiny to matte. Then put the regular gel base, thin layer on the whole nail over the peel off base. Cure it per the instructions. Then, just keep doing the next steps. They were still on after 13 days. They peeled off nicely, too!
It’s more like a true gel where manucurist is more of a polish that is cured. Olive & June is shiner in finish! I prefer manucurist over it but I also prefer manucurist over all gel! The peel off base coat doesn’t last super long so in terms of ease to remove and length of wear manucurist wins for me!
Thank you. Would love to see you do actual demo. Not related to gel for O&J- I did try their regular polish and I had some peeling next day. It was my fault but when I took the polish off the one finger to redo- I had staining and it was only less than 12- 15 hours. I took off all the polish on my nails and now not sure what to do. Directions did not require base coat and wanted your thoughts or suggestions what to use? I don’t want to give up on them just yet. Dazzle Dry gave me no issues but they have a base coat.
I find that lemon juice helps remove the staining whenever a polish stains my nails. I personally don’t get staining from O&J polishes but I know that the staining is dependent on the person. I would maybe put a lighter color underneath the polish if the staining really bothers you. It will also make the color stand out even more! I do that when I want more vibrancy out of the color. I usually go with a nude, light grey or a white. I’m sorry if this wasn’t more helpful
I always use an O&J sheet polish underneath anything that might stain like a red polish and it works wonders. They actually recommend doing so in case of staining, I believe their polishes have some sort of base coat in them already. Hope this helps!
I found your video while I was searching for replacement for manicurist (who doesn't last every time...) so this is so interesting! Thank you for your review! Do you know if we can sandwich manucurist colours with olive and June base/top for example? For longer lasting, while using all the colours I already have...
Are you a fan of gel nail polish?

That is such a great tip about warming the polish! I need to try that 💚

Same thing here

Is the nail dehydrator different than just using acetone to prep your nails?
Yes they are different!
How does it compare to the Manucurist gel system?

Do you recommend this over Le Mini Macaroon?
Could you please make a video on clean efficient primers? In particular for oily skins?
Thank you. Would love to see you do actual demo
Thanks for the review! So does the regular gel last for 21 days?
I would say 15-21 days is the average I’ve gotten wear time wise
Interesting- thanks for sharing! I find O and J just doesn’t work for me. I am not a fan of their products. Dazzle dry is the absolute best
Loveee dazzle dry! 💚
Why so? I have mixed feelings too. Partly to staining.
I love Dazzle Dry!

Also curious about this!
I haven't tried it myself so I am not sure how that would work but it is worth trying out!
