Fantastic video. When I first saw this video my first words were " this driveway 100% needs replacement" as a contractor I probably would have passed on it BUT as a homeowner I love seeing this. It gives you a year or 2 to save for a new driveway. You can also take the torch and burn the vegetation (weeds) which could be a lot quicker. This is the perfect weekend project for a homeowner and could save you hundreds if not thousands
I’ve been a beginner for 60 years. That’s the thing about home maintenance and renos. There’s always something new. These videos really help me through the frustrating bits.
Of course you just finished sealing the driveway!! I wouldn't expect you to be chillaxing when you could be improving / repairing something around the house! I would buy audio books if you would record them. We often tell you have much we enjoy the tone of your voice. Take care! Thank you for a fantastic new 'how to do it the right way' vid. ❤️❤️❤️
Leah…..Thank You. Your voice is my medication. Listening to you soothes my PTSD over active mind. I may never meet you in person but I know you would be someone that would most likely give a smile, a kind word and probably a hug. Knowing this or just believing it gives me inspiration and hope that someone does care for me out there.
I stumbled up on your channel about a year ago. I have to say, I love how you do things hwere. My wife has taken on tasks she would have never tried had she not been watching your video's. thank you so much for doing what you do and how you do it.
Spot on video! Kudos to you! Your the only one to point out my secret, no more! Remove a little sealer out of bucket for, yes, sand displacement, most importantly when adding sand, it's creates a sealer slurry, for not only slip resistance like you said but most importantly, it FILLS the alligator cracks. Most people your paying take 3 buckets of sealer, take 1/4 out of each into another bucket, add water to all and make 4 buckets and gives you a not so nice watered down sealer and makes them more money!
I'm not even in the home remodeling business nor am I trying to remodel. I just like watching Leah cause she just talks so nice and always has a smile 😁
That video was so well done it feels like it needs a mike drop at the end! You packed so much great information in just 5 minutes! My hats off to you! Well done! And THANK YOU.
Sorry but that was a complete waste of time and money. That driveway isn’t even a candidate for recapping, it needs complete removal and replacement. After a few weeks that driveway will look just like it did before it was sealed.
Leah... Did you ever think you'd have 841k subscribers when you started this TH-cam channel? I mean everyone hopes for the best as I'm sure you did but realistically did you imagine this? I'm happy for your success. Keep it up! Love the videos!
Always nice to see your videos. You are so inteligent and well spoken. I learn a lot from you and you are so peaceful. You seem to be living your best life.
Leah, thank you so much for this. We just purchased a house that has a driveway that looks exactly like this. We don't have the funds to repave it right away, but if we can do this and get another year or two before having to repave. That will give us the time we need to save for it.
Leah, it's like you read my mind, or something. :) Our driveway looks just like this one, except not as many weeds (and it's longer). We don't have a new driveway in our budget right now. I will try to save what we have by doing this! Thanks!
We have a similar condition driveway that I thought was a lost cause, but we just can't afford to replace it now. I will follow your instructions and hopefully we can get another year or two out of it!
This is one of my all-time favorite Leah tutorials. You produced such a beautiful end product, and I simply adore your communication style with all of us. I began the process of seeking out a contractor to do some patching and resurface my project house, but this morning, I thought, I bet Leah has a demo in her repertoire! And you did! We love Leah!! 🥰
You can put a coat of paint on anything. Seal coats don't fix anything. They only preserve what you've got. That driveway will look like hell in a year - the weeds will come right back. Better just to rip it out, fix the subbase and drainage, and build it to last.
@@Poppacap79 Agreed. But slapping a coat of paint over damaged substrate is a complete waste of money - aka putting lipstick on a pig. And having charlatan TH-camrs claim it is anything other than lipstick on a pig is simply grifting clueless viewers.
@@ArthurDentZaphodBeeb I don’t know about all that. I do know that my driveway is going to need to be replaced within a few years and it’s an expense I can’t cover. If I tried this and it helped me delay the inevitable while I saved my money, it seems like a reasonable and affordable temporary fix. I think that was the point of this video.
Great video! Quick, thorough and to the point on everything needed! I was just trying to find a way to seal my driveway and you hit all the aspects. All this with the voice and tenor of my kindergarten teacher, this was just a bonus! Thanks
Give it 6-12 months and it will look just as bad. Seal coats are just like paint - if the subsurface isn't sound, no amount of paint will fix it. Seal coats should be applied on sound asphalt as preventative maintainance on a regular schedule, not as some joke attempt to magically fix failed asphalt. That driveway was badly built (probably no subbase/compaction/drainage) and it failed as you'd expect. This seal coat was simply putting lipstick on a pig.
This was a LOT of work, just the weeding alone on that driveway could take somebody a full day to do properly, and then to fill each crack, first cutting the filler, then melting it down etc etc, very impressive, I know we seen the final product from a distance, but I would have like to seen it up a bit closer, I’ve never seen a driveway this damaged come out this well, not your standard ‘driveway sealing’ job, great work!
Getting ready to do a really bad one. Cracked, uneven and it sodded over in some places. The sod is coming up slow but steady, this video really helps!
Wow 🤩 I can’t believe how good it looked at the end! The before looked like you should just give in and replace it, but I’m shocked at how crazy the after was! Definitely worth it!
The driveway may look good from a distance, but there were no closeup shots of the driveway to show how it really look. As soon as the sealcoat wears off, the driveway will be right back to the way it was before.
Seriously impressive transformation! I didn’t even know this was possible. Nicely done, and I love how informative and encouraging these videos always are.
Good job Ms. Leah! I just looked at the website for the latexite pli stick. Sounds like a better alternative than backer rod and caulking for the expansion joints and cracks in cement driveway and it’s traffic ready in a much shorter time!
I've had asphalt driveways for about 30 years and patched and coated several times. Watching this, I now know how to do it right after all these years! I didn't even know that there was a product to put on oil stains. I must confess that I use a weed killer to get rid of the growth between cracks. Anyone else out there that uses a roller instead of a squeegee?
I’ve been pressure washing oil stains for three days now and never heard of an oil primer. I’m going to be putting that on next. I didn’t realize how leaky fluids could eat the asphalt up until this year.
I really thought that driveway was a goner Leah, but you did your magic and it looked great. Always a pleasure watching and learning from your video's. Remain blessed and keep the video's coming! :)
Hi, Jane! I love this solution for a poor driveway. Question- Would this work on a poor condition garage floor? Mine is not leveled with the driveway and when it rains water seeps in.
