Agree. I get you don’t want a horse suddenly putting their head to the ground but equally if a horse stumbles he can’t use his head to recover. All the overhead check is doing is destabilising the horses natural frame and ability to use their body as nature intended. This is a man made contraption to suit man’s purpose without thought to the long term damage to the horses back and mouth.
