Do you have a favorite former U.S. President's home that you've visited? Would love to hear your recommendation. Also, I made a grammatical error in this story that I can't believe I didn't catch. I referred to President Tyler's "ancestors" when I should have stated "descendants." Thank you for watching!
@@janetbyars84 Thanks for the recommendation. No idea when I'll be back in Nashville, but will hopefully check out next time. Thanks for watching - Dave
Dang - I can't believe I made that grammatical error, and that I didn't catch it after viewing. Thank you for the reminder that ancestors predate us, whereas descendants follow. Thanks also for watching. - Dave
300 feet is the length of a football field, since many houses have a garage in front and not to the side they're often only 50 some feet wide. I think my house is about 80 so we're talking about a house that's almost 4x longer.
I would like to know why Tyler, or whoever he hired, decided to keep extending laterally rather than build in a different direction. Would assume that makes additions to the roofline much easier. Thanks for the comment and for watching!
Are you sure? I live not far from James Madison's house, and it is a private residence. A very small group of us were allowed to tour it about 15 - ish years ago (ground floor only).
How about this home? Not lived in as long as this one, but one I definitely remember: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lincoln_Home_National_Historic_Site . One of only two in Illinois I know of, the other being the Grant home in Galena......
I don't know if they are still living, but as of 6 years ago 2 of Tyler's (born 1790, POTUS 1841-1845) grandchildren were still living. th-cam.com/video/dGiL2PgC17A/w-d-xo.htmlsi=dkokOQjAYdD-k7bQ
Hey, Scott. When I filmed this in the fall of 24, one of those grandchildren started limiting his trips/stays at the house several years prior. I was told most of the visits are done by one of the great grandchildren, who is pictured in this video. Thank you for watching!
I would imagine so! He went through a period in his life where that was a significant hobby. Really enjoyed Edmond Morris' biography of TR, Theodore Rex. Thank you for the comment and for watching!
Yeah, I am One of those who very seldom gets through a Video that uses Music. Sometimes I just turn the music and the person speaking off. Maybe read the transcript. Usually, I just exit the video with a 20 Sec watch. One thing for sure Even if I miraculously got through one, video with music the channel is now on the no longer recommend list. You don't need me. 🕊️
I tried to avoid the rankings, but given a few of the unique firsts he encountered, he's certainly one of note. How's that for being diplomatic? :) Thanks for watching.
@Dave Parker Why use unnecessary music? I write this to raise awareness. Too many people have disabilities ADHD, PTSD, AUTISM, ASPERGERS. There’s ESL English as a Second Language and varying levels of intelligence that may need to focus more. Senior citizens aquire difficulties focusing (Captain Ice Cream is the best example). Every hearing aid commercial states that they have difficulties separating the voices from background sounds. If your goal is to attract the most viewers possible, then you are defeating that purpose, and limiting your audience. I have given up trying to watch videos that do this because it’s just too torturous. I will click in the right hand column, “don’t recommend channel “ because of this. Hollywood worked this out ages ago. Do you have background music on your television news? Financial shows? Serious talk shows with heads of industry or heads of state? Hollywood only uses music to move the plot forward in dramatic movies and films. If you miss a line it’s less important. They don’t play music over extended narrative either. Did your classes at school play background music or your college lectures? No because it is a distraction from the content. I only saw this horrible fad begin when people started making their own documentaries and videos. That’s when amateur editors got started. They forget we’re here for the spoken words. If I want music I’ll go play what I want to hear. Any readers of this comment please spread the word to content creators you know or that do this. Thank you for your attention to this important issue. Blessings
Carol - hello, and thank you for this comment and your bringing awareness to the groups you mentioned. Most content you will find on TH-cam or elsewhere is subjective regarding style, delivery, script, etc. I'm assuming that most people who are creating that content do so in a way with which they feel either furthers the story, or that they simply enjoy. You asked the question, "Do you have background music on your television news?" These stories air on three CBS affiliates in Virginia, so yes, they do.
You're right - hate that I made that mistake. One of those things that I can't believe I didn't catch during my proofread. Thank you for taking the time to watch!

@@daveparker1910 just outside of Nashville on I65 south is James K Polk’s house. It’s amazing too!
"His ancestors" 0:18 I think you meant DESCENDANTS.

Cool video! THANKS for posting!
Thank you, Jason!!
What a gorgeous home!
When you walk the length of it, it's definitely a unique place. Thank you for watching!
Outstanding share
Thank you, Dave! Thank you for watching, and hope you've been well.
That's insane! Thats awesome!

Teddy Roosevelt's house in Long island I saw had lots of animal hunting heads.😢

I enjoy using music. If I made videos strictly for other people, I would hate doing this series.
Bill O’Reilly says Tyler was one of the five worst Presidents we have ever had.
Yes, but Bill O’Reilly is wrong about almost everything he says.
@TheChancellor212 only if you are a Democrat.

Well he was a traitor.
I heard they’re trying to get it re-zoned so they can turn it into a strip mall.
Given that it's in a relatively quiet, rural area, that would be surprising. Hope that's not the case. Thank you for the comment and for watching!

His ancestors still live there? I think you mean descendants. Just sayin
