    That looks awesome. My one problem is the loading. It seems like it would be very easy to double charge a chamber by accident. I'm sure as the builder, you're very aware and careful when loading, but if anyone else got their hands on it, it would be a serious concern. Good thing it isn't handheld. But that is great. Nice build, good job

    • @erict3728
      @erict3728 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@murphyzlaw13 not chain firing, but so you can rest easy, I've shot my .36 colt navy replica a LOT. Never used bore butter(grease covering the loaded chamber), extra wads or anything to protect against chain firing. Never once had it happen. Plus, the most likely cause of chain firing comes from the nipples on the back of the chamber. Just make sure they are clean and free of powder after loading, before installing caps, you'll be fine. Don't put your hands in front of the chamber either(I know you're not doing that anyways) if a chain fire does happen, it's not going to hurt you during normal operation. I was actually talking about loading the cannon. If you were distracted, or lost your train of thought, it would be very easy to accidentally load a barrel more than once. That could go badly, lol

It should be interesting. My friend has the same one, and says it is very accurate. 1851 navy...lol, and I'm a US Marine, lol..I appreciate your feedback...one more question if you don't mind....so...you load this sucka up and use what like green timed fuse...I'm talking about the cannon...lol

    • @erict3728
      @erict3728 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@murphyzlaw13 funny story about my colt navy... A guy wanted to sell it to me and I thought heck no, not with the rear sight notch on the hammer. So I told him I would buy it if I could put all 6 into the drawer of a desk he had in his trash pile about 80 yards away. It was maybe 1ftx1ft and I really didn't have much faith in it, but gave it my best. I couldn't see my hits from where I was, but I kept holding right on the handle of the drawer. Walked down to the target and all 6 were in a group about 2-3 inches. I bought it right there. It had a 7 or 7.5 inch barrel, ridiculously accurate. As for this cannon, I've never seen this type of fused igniter, so I can't really say. I want to guess that the fuse leads to a cap, kind of like a black powder would have, since I'm pretty sure that initial shock of the cap affects the burn of the powder. Faster than a hot fuse touching off the powder... Kind of like how a primary charge works on high explosives, but I'm no expert and I may be wrong about that. I wish I could tell you more about this stuff. Anyways, nice talking to someone who isn't an immature troll on here for once. Carry on and take care, my friend. Thanks for your service

    It appears to be firing like the bullets/balls are sealed... but in the video the balls are just dropped in. If they are just dropped in, won't that significantly reduce the power they have? (Lead bullets have always been larger then the bore for a reason, with both muzzle loading and modern firearms.). I'm honestly not sure about cannons though. Will be an interesting thing to learn.
    edit: I know they used to use wadding in old muzzle loading guns and wonder if that would increase power. The only prob though is that the balls are steel and are not smaller than the bore (they're precise)... so it might be hard to force a ball in with wadding around it.

    • @conmcgrath7174
      @conmcgrath7174 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I just made virtually the same point on another 'mini-cannon' video. Powder, wad, projectile and maybe some tissue on top if you are using ball bearings that don't have a 'sealed fit'?
      Very interesting that it seems like a 'recoilless' design?
      I have to admire it though and respect your observation.
      Pax.

      @deucedeuce1572 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@conmcgrath7174 Appreciate that. I think with modern technology the balls are very likely very, very close in size to the bore, so they are able to get power without wadding... but i do agree that wadding would (at-least) be worth a try. i wonder how 9mm lead and/or jacketed rounds would do (or sabots). wish I had one of these myself, but glad to be able to see it online and hear other people's opinions.

      @@deucedeuce1572 Sound (an Irish expression meaning eh well solid, well received), 'I hear you'. I cannot see why there isn't a need for a wad when shooting a steel ball bearing?
      Or not with 'powder' propellant.
      With modern (after Nitrocellulose) combustants it could be argued that the initial force would deform the steel sphere and make it's own perfect seal but maybe in large calibres, I don't buy/see it using 'powder'? The 'Minie ball' was such a game-changer' because it allowed the charge to make a seal and propel the bullet without wadding, fine for lead and black powder, not so great for steel balls?
      Thank you for the reply, it was my Father that instilled my great love of 'things that go boom' and a total respect for what that might cause.
