I never comment on videos here but now i want to. Pretty much every sentence in this video feels like, or describes my own thoughts, struggles and overcomings i am dealing with at this moment. You have a fine way of putting them into words and giving clarity to the introvert mindset. Resonated so well. Thank you.
Thanks for that. I'm in my 60s and finally about to start homesteading after living in London for most of my life. As a fellow introvert, feeling both excited and anxious, but overwhelmingly grateful for the opportunity.....
Your first video on introversion was a bit of a turning point for me. It helped me fully accept my introversion and to stop forcing myself to do things or behave in ways that went against my true nature in an effort to appear more "normal". So, I'd just like to say thank you very much for that. My life has become a lot easier and more authentic since then. And this was a great video too; full of many wonderful insights and gems of wisdom. All the best!
My first comment on TH-cam ever. Love your channel and your positive energy. My Finnish husband and I are moving with our 1,5-year old son from Austria to Lapland in a month's time. One reason being the nature, climate and space for building a happy home. I already lived there before for 1,5 years and it's a good place for functioning introverts like me;) Lapland also taught me of how to find pleasure in the "simple" things of everyday life, changing seasons, good weather, ... Since we want to buy a house with some land around Rovaniemi, I'm already excited about growing my own vegetable which I've always dreamt of. The growing season is so much shorter than what I know, but also so intensive. The best strawberries I've ever eaten were local Lappish ones. I'm going to experiment with what is possible to grow in this somehow extreme climate and what and looking forward to learn from you as well.
As a fellow introvert it’s totally survivable! Love your videos, you inspired me to get my own old cottage in the west of Ireland on a few acres! It’s exciting to watch your channel now off on a new adventure! ❤
Great video and totally agree with your views about life in general, life is a great adventure be greatful enjoy the ride and try to help people less fortunate than you
Wishing you a very happy and peaceful 42nd birthday . 🎉 Wishing you & Angela & baby continued peace & contentment in Finland. Continue with those great videos. Well done to you.
I can relate to everything you said.. though I am less practically skilled and with a few autoimmune issues... However I own the wreck of a draughty uninsulated rural house I live in in Country Mayo .. and you know when I say that when a pet of an Irish day of blue skies, fleeting white clouds, a tiny almost warm breeze blows , the birds sing, and the myriad of green growth sighs and gleams with life... and I sit out quiet just 'being' a part of it there.. aware of all senses intake of sights and sounds and feel and color and the air itself .. it is bliss at the wealth I inherited to inhabit, and these are moments of 'knowing everything' and utter contentment... winter is forgotten 😅
This contribution contains so many pearls of wisdom and listening to you has the same effect as a Headspace meditation. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and enjoy your 42nd birthday ! All the best for you and your family !!!❤
I’ve always been a huge fan of your channel…you helped me get through the pandemic and I’ve been inspired by your journey ever since. I studied abroad in Finland for half a year and was so excited and surprised when you announced you were moving there! Enjoy, and I hope things go really well for you there :)
I really enjoyed this. I have a lot of respect for the way you live your life and really enjoy your videos. I am 64, female, sober for 22 years and an introvert. For the first time in my life I am embracing being an introvert and enjoying it. For me I get contentment out of making life better for other people. It is something that comes natural for me and I enjoy. Nothing big, just in little ways, always. I love to walk and have to for my mental health. It makes me feel so good! My life seems to have stopped in some ways because my mom has dementia. I get great joy in visiting her and feeding her, etc. I think one of the secrets to life is it gets easier as we age if we are lucky. Almost everything I look at in people and life now does not really make sense to me. I keep thinking it is because I am getting to be one of those opinionated old people, but I think it is just me waking up a bit and realizing what is important to me. There are 8 billion people or so on the planet and probably that many differing thoughts and opinions. My wish is that we all get to live our lives pretty close to how we want to safely and with freedom.
Happy Birthday, Daniel!! All the best to you and your family! My partner and I moved to a forest a couple of weeks ago, already happier than ever before. Thank you for being our inspiration :)
One good thing about the long dark winter in the north is that it gives a lot of time for introspection and planning. The short summer is for doing all those things you've planned during the winter, there is less time for looking inwards then.
As an introvert and someone struggling with the what if's of life, this is episode struck home for me. Thank you for the inspirational wisdom to follow contentment. Happy Birthday.
I usually watch your videos on the weekends because they are a special treat for me. They make me feel so good because they are calming, meaningful and inspiring. 🥰
Thanks Daniel 😊 Best of Luck on your Journey. You are so right ,it's not about rhe destination . YOU'RE CERTAINLY MISSED HERE IN IRELAND, but I'm delighted that you have made a new life for you and your family in Finland. They are so lucky ro have you. You are a true Ambassador for creating a new way forward. You're an Inspiration to anyone looking to leave the rat race. More power to you. Thanks for sharing your Journey. Gives people Hope that it's never to late to do what's right for themselves. Thanks again for the Inspiring Videos. Best of luck with all your future endeavours .
Your style of video has been the reason I have watched from the beginnings of Mossy Bottom. Each post is 'complete in itself'. This one was brilliant too. You always leave us at the end of a chapter looking forward to the next chapter. As I am nearing 80 I too realise life is the journey and glad I have made the most of it. Nature is the 'God' behind being alive. Happy Birthday. Look forward to the next post 😊
Thank you for your kind words of wisdom that you share, Your videos have helped me through some rough patches of my own, Daniel I believe you are sharing a beautiful gift every time you make and release these videos, truly.
“The meaning of life is to find your gift! The purpose of life is to give it away!” I think the quote is by Picasso 🖌️🎨 Find what gets you out of bed in the morning, what excites you 👍🏻
Happy Birthday Daniel! Your videos are very professional. I watch quite a lot of videos and I hate when the presenter just wings it, getting thing wrong and thinking its good enough. I appreciate your perfectionism, its a joy to watch your videos. I'm looking forward to seeing Finland in the Summer days.
Thank you so much for your kind and wise words. Me, myself am from Denmark, and have two times "moved" to Sweden to restore cheap houses, and sell them with some profit next year, not having a real job for many, many years, just living very simple, but always found myself moving around, always, although I was alone in the forests for very long periods. Just me and my thoughts. Now I just turned 39, lost my dad, and really felt, that I'm heading for the 40's, and not just strolling around in my 30's anymore. I do think if I should find an old house again in Sweden to stay, on the countryside, and call that life for now ('cause impossible to afford a house in Denmark with my simple lifestyle). Anyway, just my story about restlessness and trying to do things different. Looking much forward to see when spring really arrives in Finland, and what more thoughts you want to share on your journey of life :)
Bless you Daniel,Happy birthday many wise words. You look healthy and content, with that extra note of maturity making this a particularly interesting video! Greetings from central Portugal a 74 year old introvert
I am also an introvert, however, my new career involves communicating to multiple organizations and countries for the information I need to report. I am not afraid though, since meditation, prayer, and walking keep me focused on my task; and on the love I share between my spouse and child. It is noticing the adventure every day that is key.
I just turned 41 march 1st..happy 42nd birthday to you ❤. Your videos and insights are beautiful and touch my soul. I moved recently and looking for a home with land to live a similar lifestyle thst I've dreamed of for many moons.. slowly inching closer to making it a reality. I've been aldo going through struggles with depression and other personal issues such as health and feeling inadequacy. Hopefully some healing will come soon. I appreciate your videos a lot...don't stop....from one introvert to another. 🎉🎉🎉
Speaking of those "documentary" series; The first one was set in the early 1600's, and can be found under the title "Tales from the green valley" (which is my personal favourite), the second series, was the "Tudor monastery farm", after which came the Victorian and Edwardian series. Excellent stuff, all of them. And, on the point of advice, a similar lyric from a Dutch song (by Acda & De Munnik), stood out to me too, years ago: "Don't ask anyone else for advice, they will colour it with the smells of their own failings" A strange sentence at face value, but it boils down to the same point.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and experience 👍🤗 As an introvert and highly sensitive person l often thought l would never be happy, cause l always had to get out off my shell and pretend to be sociable and easy going. Now in my 40s l realised that it's ok to be myself, no need to act and try to please everyone ;). By the way "Victorian Farm" and "Edwardian Country House " are my favourite history reconstruction series 👍👍👍
Hi Daniel I hope you had a great 42nd birthday. Just touching base to see where you are been looking forward to seeing your next video? I hope you and the family are well. Kind Regards Cinda from Australia
So many good statements you have on this video, especially about chasing dreams and happiness. My acceptance of my own introversion is still ongoing but I've started on it at least. Welcome to Finland as well, been following you for a long time and was surprised when you moved here. :)
Daniel, I have watched every single video of yours from day 1 and I have loved them all. Saying that, this was simply a masterpiece. I really hope you are working on a book. Because I am so ready to read it! 🍀
Thank you, that means a lot. And yes, I've been working on a book for some time now. It got somewhat interrupted by the move to Finland, but I'm enjoying the process very much. It's one of those things that will be ready when it's ready, but watch this space. :)
Another beautiful and inspiring video. I truly appreciate the time you take to put these together for all of us. Happy birthday and enjoy 42. I especially love the song you sing at the end, the thoughts that are in it, the beautiful melody, and your sweet voice. I find it very grounding.
Great video, your channel inspired so many here in Ireland to take a different path in life. Thank you and best wishes on this next stage of your journey.
Best wishes for a very happy birthday! This introvert has been around longer than you, but feels very much the same way about many things. There will always be those who offer (unsolicited) advice on how you should do things the way they do, because they know what you need and how you need to do it. Since I was a small child I've loved to be by myself; to think, come up with ideas, be creative, process information, enjoy the beauty of the world, and just 'be'. There are those who want to see and be seen by others. I do enjoy interacting with people, but in most cases they are other creative, interesting people who are also following their own path. There is a lot to unpack in your presentation, but having enough space and nature to find solitude, whether it's for a day, or an hour is the perfect way to find inner peace and happiness.
It truly baffles me too how we are here now, and how everyone's perception of this reality is different. I fully agree with you, it truly is something special to even be here. Not enough people appreciate it nowadays. We are all waiting for spring with you, no doubt about it! Hopefully it arrives soon. Can't wait to see what you'll be up to!
I already knew this would resonate deeply with me from the start. I have my own thoughts and feelings that don't align perfectly with yours, but they exist in the same realm and play with the same concepts. It's just nice to recognize another similar soul :)
Another amazing video. I had my son at 42 and am giving him this video to watch, I hope it will teach him and be enjoyable for him as it was for me 💜💜💜 I am 70 and in a transition of life. If I may be so bold as to add two words which I now use to help my stress and head to function....Accept and Adapt...along with deep breathing for a few minutes when my needs are 'out of my control to make happen'...meaning the world isn't giving me what I need or want. I 'm going through that right now and will be making some really important choices about how my life will move forward. Apathy is not an option. So thank you again Dear One to you, your partner and baby 💜💜💜for your efforts and teachings of how one can live life and be true to oneself...not easy...oh I cut my hair, my son's and now today at 27 years he cuts his own too :♥ Peace and Healing To You and to all who pass by 💜
Daniel, you're not even halfway there yet lad . Your healthy lifestyle choices will see you well into your 90's, imo. Keep on enjoying every day with your lovely wee family ❤
I relate to a lot of what you shared here. It took me a little bit longer to realize I could leave the 9 to 5 grind, but it's nice to understand what you're saying here through experience now. I've been watching your content now for some time and always enjoy your updates.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on what is important in life. Thanks for sharing your thoughts as an introvert. Thank you for what you give of yourself and happy birthday. Love you and your videos.
Happy Birthday ! Each and every message you share with us is golden. More often than not we don’t know we are happy. For myself, I was always looking for something better. I wish I had been content. Content in the present. I’m still going forward looking for something new, better what ever that might be. At 73 though , I’m slowing down. Looking back and seeing how happy I was. Love your thoughts and wisdom that flow out effortlessly.
Congrats on 42nd! Can't wait for it myself, two years to go! :D Also congrats on living in the happiest country on Earth, as they have told us again for the 7th time. ;D Listening to you, I think you have found it what we here call happiness, the happiest place of course is always inside of you, but the mindset of contentment with how you live your life and the world surrounding you. That's the moment you start to spit out wisdom every time you speak, that's why we tend to be so quiet here. ;D The world is now just there to explore for you. "Taking control of the fundamental processes of life, food, water, shelter, warmth, is more fulfilling" is the most Finnish sentence, that's why we're so eager to live at our summer cottages every now and then.
This video just makes me really happy. I love making lists like this (and I have a few years on you so my list can be longer!) I also find a lot of "kindred spirit" moments with you and your family. Thank you for being one of the voices affirming that introversion is perfectly okay. When I first saw Susan Cain's TED talk on the subject I cried like a baby at the thought of being so validated. Thank you for mentioning the value of "it's complicated". Thank you for admitting to being both a worrier/perfectionist, and an optimist (one of those contradictions you warned of!) I'm afraid I'm not often seen as an optimist, since I have the bad habit of leading conversation with a problem - but only to grapple with it, to organize it in my mind, to be ready to solve. [Maybe that part should be conducted on a long walk alone in the woods!] I've not realized all my dreams, and probably won't, as you say, but that doesn't have to stop happiness. Thanks to your inspiration, I did leave my old career behind, and even had some months unemployed (the happiest of my adult life) before finding work again. I do more gardening than I used to, and love it. I write a bit, which I've always loved. Little steps. In short, I'm glad I subscribed to your channel many moons ago. You and your family have been, and continue to be, encouragers in my pursuit of a satisfying life. Happy 42nd, and many more!
Victorian & Edwardian Farm was the reason i found your youtube channel! And i'm really glad i did :) I'm always trying to incorporate more "slow living" into my everyday life (fellow introvert here), but living and working in the city, even in a nature packed country as switzerland, it's still usually only small baby steps like growing herbs on my tiny balcony and walks through the forest on weekends. But even these small things make me feel much more at peace.
This was a great vlog. I enjoyed listening to you and I watch you for years. I'm also an introvert and life in the city is stressful. I admire and applaude your determination. You changed your life and live life on your terms. You worked hard for it. Best wishes for your birthday in a few weeks 🥳.
Always so great to be honest with oneself, great that you feel at peace with who you are and can share it. Growing older is a wonderful thing when we can accept our nature.
Can't help but chime in. :) I recently came across your channel and love what I've seen. Consuming animal products, overall, is a complicated topic with alllll the nuances. You may not be the person who needs to reflect on this because I don't know your views yet (I'm waiting to get through the work week before watching your Pet vs Meat video), but I think a lot of people could simplify the equation for themselves by not getting stuck on hypothetical scenarios, and focus on what is actually practical for them. The vast majority of us are going to the grocer down the street and have a lot of freedom of choice about whether to support animal agriculture. This is definitely different than someone living remotely in a very small community. Anyway, the rest of this video is golden, and I treasure that I have found your corner of the internet. Have a great day.
Thank you for such a meaningful conversation! It is helpful to hear from others the introspection that their life has brought them over the many choices you make through life while “riding the train.” Happy springtime for your family, I’ll be looking forward to future videos! 🌿
😄I liked Hitchhiker's Gude To The Galaxy, which was my English learning material, I came to UK to find my true home, I came quite far 🙂Happy Birthday Daniel! I enjoyed this full video subject to more about our soul, since some time. Thank you from Japan (& UK)
That was lovely 😊 55 year old extrovert living in the city. I liked your train metaphor. I hope when the lights go out that your / our journey takes the most surprising turn to something beyond our senses, but whatever the case there's lots of wisdom here - thankyou for your efforts and it's so good to be included on your journey
Happy birthday and many joyful years to come! The growing season in Finland is much shorter than in Ireland and you’ll surely find new ways to manage your smallholding :) Exciting journey ahead!
What an absolutely perfect video, brilliant, just brilliant thanks for sharing and looking forward to seeing what you have planned in the spring! It has taken me until this year at the ripe old age of 55 to fight off the shackles I willingly allowed my family and friends to put on me. Finally I have the courage to stand tall as the introvert I am and say ‘I am enough’!
I like yout train analogy, but my favorite is the sandbar in the river of time by one of my favorite writers. Thanks for the update. All the best for you and your family. "Picture a very swift torrent, a river rushing down between rocky walls. There is a long, shallow bar of sand and gravel that runs right down the middle of the river. It is under water. You are born and you have to stand on that narrow, submerged bar, where everyone stands. The ones born before you, the ones older than you, are upriver from you. The younger ones stand braced on the bar downriver. And the whole long bar is slowly moving down that river of time, washing away at the upstream end and building up downstream. Your time, the time of all your contemporaries, schoolmates, your loves and your adversaries, is that part of the shifting bar on which you stand. And it is crowded at first. You can see the way it thins out, upstream from you. The old ones are washed away and their bodies go swiftly by, like logs in the current. Downstream where the younger ones stand thick, you can see them flounder, lose footing, wash away. Always there is more room where you stand, but always the swift water grows deeper, and you feel the shift of the sand and the gravel under your feet as the river wears it away. Someone looking for a safer place can nudge you off balance, and you are gone. Someone who has stood beside you for a long time gives a forlorn cry and you reach to catch their hand, but the fingertips slide away and they are gone. There are the sounds in the rocky gorge, the roar of the water, the shifting, gritty sound of sand and gravel underfoot, the forlorn cries of despair as the nearby ones, and the ones upstream, are taken by the current. Some old ones who stand on a good place, well braced, understanding currents and balance, last a long time. A Churchill, fat cigar atilt, sourly amused at his own endurance and, in the end, indifferent to rivers and the rage of waters. Far downstream from you are the thin, startled cries of the ones who never got planted, never got set, never quite understood the message of the torrent." John D. MacDonald in “Pale Grey for Guilt“ (1968)
„To invest in my life, not escape from it“ this and all your other sentences feel so right, are so inspiring. Thank you! And happy birthday (in a few short weeks), I never ever thought you might be more than 35, congratulations!
Super, thank you Daniel! ‘Trust yourself’ so simple really if other things don’t get in the way. I’m looking forward to this spring hugely too, my first as a retired person and my first becoming a grower of things. What is growing in your propagation room? Happy Birthday! 🎈🥳 🎉🎁🎉🥳🎈
Tales from the green valley , I love that program. Thank you for sharing Daniel, I too am an introvert, and Im ok with that.Have a blessed day and look forward to your next video.
I am neurodivergent/autistic and I think I know what you describe when talking about not catering to social expectations and other people's visions of yourself. we call it 'unmasking'.
Loved this video. Thank you for sharing some of your wisdoms. They really resonated. And I also loved the Victorian farm show. So fascinating! I'm 32 now, but look forward to learning and consolidating my own list of 42 wisdoms before my 42nd spin around the globe. Thank you.

As an introvert and highly sensitive person l often thought l would never be happy, cause l always had to get out off my shell and pretend to be sociable and easy going. Now in my 40s l realised that it's ok to be myself, no need to act and try to please everyone ;).
By the way "Victorian Farm" and "Edwardian Country House " are my favourite history reconstruction series 👍👍👍
as an autistic, I feel exactly like you do. it's called 'unmasking' :)
Just one persons perspective, but a very true one for many,at least for me! Thank you!❤️
Hi Daniel
I hope you had a great 42nd birthday. Just touching base to see where you are been looking forward to seeing your next video? I hope you and the family are well.
Kind Regards
Cinda from Australia
Happy 42nd birthday! Gosh you have such flawless skin, radiant! Thanks for this video, it resonated immensely. Much blessings to you and your family.
I knew it! Yes!!! 🎉
Love the Hitchhiker's Guide reference, my Manager at work has also used that "42" reference lol
My husband and I also turn 42 this year! 🎉 Happy Birthday Daniel 😊
Thank you Daniel! What a wonderfully well put together video! Love to you and your family. Oh to be 42 again 😂❤😊
Appreciate the thoughtfulness that went into this video - it all resonated deeply! ❤
Your channel is exactly what I need! I’m glad to hear your story and perspective because I realised more about who I AM. Thank you so much.
Another beautiful and inspiring video. I truly appreciate the time you take to put these together for all of us. Happy birthday and enjoy 42. I especially love the song you sing at the end, the thoughts that are in it, the beautiful melody, and your sweet voice. I find it very grounding.
Thanks so much for this, Daniel. Much needed right now. Beautiful and helpful. I’ll watch more than once and will share it too.
Your vlogs should be a MUST WATCH on the school curriculum, what an inspiration you are ✅✅✅✅✅✅✅✅
Happy birthday year! Very uplifting today. Spring coming soon we hope XOX
Your sharing is a wonderful thing and we appreciate what you choose to share.. I look forward to witnessing your creativity, and shared delights!
ps I am so glad your song is back at the end!
oh and if being a perfectionist means we get to see your funny outtakes time to time .. then perfect on!!
Thank you for your honesty 🙏
Glad your doing well 💛🌻🌷
I already knew this would resonate deeply with me from the start.
So thank you again Dear One to you, your partner and baby 💜💜💜for your efforts and teachings of how one can live life and be true to oneself...not easy...oh I cut my hair, my son's and now today at 27 years he cuts his own too :♥ Peace and Healing To You and to all who pass by 💜
Thank you. I so needed to see this today and it reminded me to be grateful to be here and to write my own biography by living it.
Daniel, you're not even halfway there yet lad .
Your healthy lifestyle choices will see you well into your 90's, imo.
Keep on enjoying every day with your lovely wee family ❤
Welcome to 42! Just hit that as well the other day. Hope you have a good one when the day itself hits.
Tom Petty, Running down a dream, is a song which I think of pursuing happiness.
Thank you for another great vlog, Daniel, and happy birthday when it comes!
I relate to a lot of what you shared here. It took me a little bit longer to realize I could leave the 9 to 5 grind, but it's nice to understand what you're saying here through experience now. I've been watching your content now for some time and always enjoy your updates.
Super inspiring and I really feel all the wisdoms you talked about. Happy birthday! and thank you for the videos you create.
Happy 42nd trip around the sun, Daniel! I wish you abundant blessings! 🎉🎂❤
From fellow introvert, Julie.
[Maybe that part should be conducted on a long walk alone in the woods!]
I've not realized all my dreams, and probably won't, as you say, but that doesn't have to stop happiness.
Thank you for sharing what you've learned, and happy birthday from Coast Salish territory in Canada!
Inspiring as always!
This was a great vlog. I enjoyed listening to you and I watch you for years. I'm also an introvert and life in the city is stressful. I admire and applaude your determination. You changed your life and live life on your terms. You worked hard for it. Best wishes for your birthday in a few weeks 🥳.
Happy Birthday. A really good insightful video. Thank you for covering this important topic. 💗
I really enjoy this. Thank you so much. 🙋🏼♀️🇦🇺
Wonderful video as always
Insightful. Enjoy hearing your thoughts
Happy birthday Daniel and wise words as always
That was lovely 😊 55 year old extrovert living in the city. I liked your train metaphor. I hope when the lights go out that your / our journey takes the most surprising turn to something beyond our senses, but whatever the case there's lots of wisdom here - thankyou for your efforts and it's so good to be included on your journey
Happy birthday and many joyful years to come! The growing season in Finland is much shorter than in Ireland and you’ll surely find new ways to manage your smallholding :) Exciting journey ahead!
Thank you Daniel and Happy Birthday ❤
Far downstream from you are the thin, startled cries of the ones who never got planted, never got set, never quite understood the message of the torrent."
John D. MacDonald in “Pale Grey for Guilt“ (1968)
The rushing water is time.
Happy Birthday Daniel🎈 Your videos are inspiring ❤️🏴
„To invest in my life, not escape from it“ this and all your other sentences feel so right, are so inspiring. Thank you! And happy birthday (in a few short weeks), I never ever thought you might be more than 35, congratulations!
Thnx for sharing we enjoyed the insight...wishing you a blessed b day
So much of what you share I find relatable to a very high degree. Thank you for making these videos!
“You have made us for yourself, O Lord, and our heart is restless until it rests in you.” St. Augustine.
I imagine I will be watching this video over and over. So beautiful- thank you!
This was good video, thanks! 🎉❤
I am neurodivergent/autistic and I think I know what you describe when talking about not catering to social expectations and other people's visions of yourself. we call it 'unmasking'.
Lovely video Daniel. Happy birthday whenever and thanks for sharing your wisdom. ❤
Wonderful! Thank you 😊
Loved this video. Thank you for sharing some of your wisdoms. They really resonated. And I also loved the Victorian farm show. So fascinating! I'm 32 now, but look forward to learning and consolidating my own list of 42 wisdoms before my 42nd spin around the globe. Thank you.
When it comes to introversion, you are in the right country 😊
Love your videos. Really, truly. And I just want to thank you.
Wonderful video Daniel. I joined headspace thru your link.
Have a very Happy Birthday x
