You know, no matter how dumbed down the writing gets, no matter how bad the episodes are, and no matter what Mattel is trying to feed us now, Thomas the Tank Engine will always be remembered as a show filmed with models that look like real locomotives, and on sets that look real and alive, and with an amazing score.
All big corporations seem to be all controlled and evil with the 24 hour cycle of society, if some hero would come along and be able to acquire the brand to a business that cares, then good. one can dream
saying "everything old is good, everything new is bad, and if you disagree you're too young to have a say in it" is not a good way to make people side with you against mattel
So much exposition over 40 year old children's brand based on a series of family literatures. ERTL isn't really coming back, because they were acquired by RC2 Corporation
These days (although I’m ok with it), they always appeal to the younger audiences so much that people from the earlier days, whether it be the 80s, 90s or 00’s, get screwed over because what they love is now ruined :(
I miss the days when the thomas merch was just the trackmaster sets cause thats the toys i grew up with. If u were a kid around the time toys r us was still thriving and it has a store in times square, then youll remember the absolutely banger thomas toys that had. Now i look at the new merch and just cry with tears of despair
I agree with him, plus trains are trains, not like humans, I kinda want the original back, I hope Mattel will listen, if they don't, they keep going to make it worse
A lot of this seems like wish fulfillment. The problem (mainly with the show, the merch stuff sounds great) is that it isn't 2000 to 2016 anymore, we cant move back, only forward. So I'd suggest a runtime closer to about 10-15 minutes, to go for snappier stories while complying with modern runtimes. Add Emily and give all the engines their own distinct voice, if you only want 1 guy to voice all of them, fine, but if Trampy can make it work, being 1 guy giving all the engines unique voices and retelling the original Thomas stories, so can any new guys. That's about all my notes on this video, the rest seems good
Yeah most of his Bachmann ideas tend to be his own personal wish list because he is aware that Mattel is unfortunately preventing Bachmann from making non-CGI engines. He even said in yesterday’s video roasting his haters that it’s just his personal wish list.
Here's how I'd save Thomas & Friends. It would've continued from where Season 24 left off, bringing back more old characters and locations like BoCo, Duke and Caroline, Elsbridge, Ffarquhar Sheds to make the CGI layout of the yards akin to the RWS version and Great Waterton, allow Donald and Douglas to appear more and give them more spotlight roles in CGI to show other aspects of their characters instead of bickering like their individuality, Dilly the duckling, homage to their Scottish roots and belief in the supernatural, make one CGI season cinematic style just like Series 5 in the classic series, return other sides to characters like Henry's love for nature as well as his grump self-importance side, Gordon's good-hearted and loyally side and alliance with Thomas, Toby's chaotic neutral trait and witty sense of humour and Duck's love for the sea to give them more focus in the show, return character dynamics like Duck and Diesel's rivalry, Percy and Toby's friendship and Toby's dynamics with James, Mavis and Daisy, playing with tone like dark, serious, spooky and mature ones, Diesel 10 returning and back to his original evil portrayal akin to his debut to be the main villain of some specials and overarching in episodes, Diesel's belief that steam is old and clanked out and in diesel superiority remain shown in CGI as well as sympathetic angle toned down, 'Arry and Bert back to their original grim scrapping trait and given more episodes as the main antagonists and roles akin to Burke and Blair from TUGS, give other characters more focus like Oliver, the narrow gauge engines and Norman, create new character pairings like Duke and Luke, Daisy and Dennis, Rebecca and Henry and Hiro with Nia, Rebecca, Donald and Douglas, have Sir Lowham appear more in CGI, interacting with his mother Dowager Hatt, give Stephen and Bridget spotlight roles in episodes, have Tidmouth Sheds acting more like a normal shed with other engines sleeping at Tidmouth Sheds besides The Steam Team just like in the classic series, have Henry return to Tidmouth Sheds since Ian McCue originally planned to keep him alongside Rebecca, have Thomas and Percy move back to Ffarquhar Sheds with Toby to sleep there most of the time, have Gordon and Flying Scotsman's relationship be more akin to the RWS to have them get along most of the time, have Spencer interact with Nia and Rebecca, have more references and flashbacks to classic episodes made, have The Logging Locos appear to be written properly by good writing to be better characters regardless of their quirks toned down a bit, expanding on their traits and sometimes help out at the Timber Mill near Henry's Forest and give the HIT era characters chances to become great characters when they come back.
The thing is that i dunno if it's because of how familiar i became with it, but it's so easy to make a Thomas reboot right to the point WE see regular people on their computers, with their toys, with probably just their $2 toaster of a computer on the run, capturing the essence of the blue tank engine better than the MULTIMILLION DOLLAR COMPANY THAT IS IN CHARGE OF IT
Honestly I’d rather have the characters get their own individual voices, as long as they’re actually accurate to them, also controversial take: my favorite narrator of all time is mark moraghan (that’s my opinion). Anyways great videos, keep it up.
I think Ryan should stay, as a reminder to Thomas that he could be replaced if he does not straighten up, we can also see Ryan Thomas dynamics like Thomas being angry with Ryan like at Sodor s legends
I personally would prefer voice actors for the characters, it gives them a bit more of a personality. However I do agree that some of the voices were annoying, like Henry's for example. I would probably get trampy to voice him. I feel like his voice for Henry really captures his character.
@@joshuaW5621I do like uk Henry he sounds older which when you realize that yes he is not that young compared to engines like Gordon I never understand why his voice in us dub sounded like it was going through puberty
Man I remember when I was little I had a thomas the tank engine bed . I also had a bunch of wooden railway peices and engines and rolling stock. My dad got rid of it years ago but somehow I still have an engine and two peices of rolling stock.
Yeah I do agree with lot of things you said, I respect your opinion as long as you don't go your opinion is wrong and people are stupid for liking something you don't like. I would say that the show needed a main female character though.
Yes it does but I feel that the idea of adding female characters that are there just for diversity and had not been established in the show was a poor choice like Emily while some may not like her at least we did get to know her and she wasn’t immediately added to the main cast
Here is what I would do 1.) Keep All Engines Go! as an alternate universe TV show to Thomas & Friends, like how Kamp Koral: SpongeBob's Under Years is an alternate universe TV show to SpongeBob SquarePants. But have All Engines Go! as a separate show running alongside the main show. 2.) Expand the Main Cast of Characters. 3.) Make better quality CGI Motorized and Push Along Engines for my hypothetical version of Season 25 onwards whilst it would all be the same with All Engines Go.
I have a couple of points of disagreement here. A stronger focus on the main cast for a while wouldn't be a bad thing, but having a large background cast is useful. They already have the character models, so it's easy enough to populate the world with various more recent characters, just to make Sodor feel more busy. Also, from a practicality and economics perspective, more variety in merch lines is always great, and by keeping the extended cast, they could sell more toys and remain more profitable, which is important in our capitalist society. One change that could be made, though, is rather than having different ranges for different years, just maintain a stock of every character you have designs for. Just maintain your tooling, and whenever you get close to selling out of a character, just order several thousand more. There's a reason models like the express coaches and Donald and Douglas went out of rotation: they reached market saturation, so less people were buying them. But in the modern day of online shopping, you can maintain a stock that's being sold online even if physical stores don't want to stock a model that is selling poorly. Also, while I do hate the 2021 wheels, I actually really like that they gave the engines their actual wheel arrangements. So, go back to the old wheel aesthetics, but have a couple of different sizes you can use to differentiate between driving and non driving wheels for some engines. The only one I can remember having that in old wooden railway is Emily, but she's not the only character where the wheels are a big part of the look: Oliver comes to mind, but some other characters could probably benefit them too, especially certain later characters, like Whiff or Merdoch. That's just personal preference though, not objective.
You know I used to be just like you, I hated anything that was new and wished things would go back to how they were in the 80s, 90s, and 2000s. But then I grew up and stopped giving a shit about some reboot that is MEANT FOR LITERAL BABIES AND TODDLERS. Instead I rewatch the old episodes and all of the fanmade content that isn't going anywhere anytime soon.
I agree with what you that we should bring Thomas back to his roots and have a smaller cast of the main engines rather than just making up new ones just to make merchandise. Also this might be controversial, but I think Edward kinda works best as a side character rather than being in the spotlight too much. Hear me out: because Edward is the oldest and wisest, he helps out with younger engines, gives them advice and serves as more of a mentor figure. Also I'd probably would write a couple episodes to give James. I always loved the ones where James does something wrong like say the bootlaces incident or "No Joke for James" where he tricks Gordon, then later on he redeems himself.
17:10 Ertl is to inconsistent and having the tenders attached is just silly. We aren't losing anything if bring back Take Along, or Take 'n' Play instead of Ertl. I say Take 'n' Play because it had a lot more detail and accurate colours than Take Along. Also, maybe give them the Adventure couplings so people can make longer trains without the fear of the magnets separating.
7:06 Every single season has introduced new characters, so in your hypothetical, it would get somewhat dull after a few seasons of no new characters. Sure, there’s 20 engines who could star in episodes instead of the 8 in the hit era, but at some point Sodor would start to feel small because you’re seeing the same 20 engines every season.
The other thing I'll change about Bachmann is having them DCC ready. They already do it in the UK and they briefly did it here with their chugginton line
That was a great video, and it is good to see how you would bring back Thomas and Friends. If I was going to be a showrunner for the revived series, I would bring back Edward, Henry and Toby back to Tidmouth sheds, but I would keep Nia and Rebecca at Tidmouth sheds along with Edward, Henry and Toby. Speaking of Nia and Rebecca I know they weren't written well but I would give them the proper writing and make them fleshed out characters. I would also bring back characters we haven't seen in a long time including the one and done characters from the Hit Era and give them their chance to shine. With the animation I would stick to the one they used for the CGI era. If the first series of the revived series is a success, for the next series I would focus on different railways, and we get to see the return of the Skarloey railway, the Arlesdale railway and have the Culdee Fell railway make a CGI debut. If we get renewed for a third series, I would do a big bad like Doctor Who and Buffy the Vampire Slayer but the big bad for the series finale will be Diesel 10.
"i will not tak about every single thing that is wrong with thomas and friends but rather talk about every single thing that is wrong with thomas and friends"
With regards to Bachmann - yes, get rid of the silly eye-moving mechanisms. Most railway modellers actually disconnect the mechanism anyway to improve the running. (Usually by just taking out one gear.) But, how about offering different expressions as accessories? You could have the standard smiling/happy face as default, but maybe a couple of other faces such as a sad, cross, surprised, etc.
Man what i could have wish to have back was like this: Model series back on it's peak same with merch also the railway series being back on sales and the good old Thomas games being back on their peak era that's what i wish for but i know it will be impossible
If you remove the eye mechanism (I've said this in the Percy review video), here's what you do to not only please the fans, but also make bank: Make the faces magnetically adhere to the smokeboxes and then have a single 'standard' or 'neutral' face accompany the model. After that, sell accessory bags of each character with an assortment of roughly 9-10 other faces in the poly bag. That way people can snap on and snap off different facial expressions with ease to not only make for dynamic filming, but also a lively personality to their currently soulless locomotives. Gordon smiles, yes, but most of the time he's indignant or disgraced. James is hardly ever smiling like his model and is most of the time smug or pissed off. So not only could they remake the faces to bring them up to quality, but they could make several of them and allow for a dynamically changing flow of emotion in their product. The entire world opens up when you remove that shitty eye mechanism and they only put that there because they think it looks cool and it'll sell more. In reality, whenever someone sees my models running at the club or a train show, they're ALWAYS unsettled by the moving eyes. They just expected to see the static face but when the engines run by them and look in their direction it scares them, especially the little kids. I've had maybe 1 positive comment from a kid who could barely talk let alone think coherently who said to my Donald and Douglas: "Look, it's a Thomas", which to a 20-something year old dedicated Thomas fan, is like being kicked in the testicles for someone to call any engine with a face "A Thomas" (completely ignoring the very obvious AND READABLE nameplate on the side.....). I digress. -Remove moving eyes. -Smooth off the smokebox. -Insert magnets. -3D print multiple faces with magnets embedded. -Trains now have swap-able faces. -Profit.
Bro... you're smart. For real that's a great idea. IMAGINE switching out the faces for a tired out expression? Can I make a video on this and show your comment/credit you?
as a paw patrol fan and thomas fan i find it hell funny you called all engine go a paw patrol ripoff and you know what your not wrong and i find that funny
what surprises me is how the Bachmann Thomas line has still not yet been hit hard by the AEG transformation, and I hope it stays that way. Not to mention removing the eye mech not only would make models cheaper, but also run more reliably.
It's sad that the fans know more about what made Thomas successful than Mattel. Or maybe Mattel knows this too, which is why they absolutely refuse to do it and instead insist on making decisions that are more likely to send Thomas to the scrapyard because they hate him and his fanbase's guts. Just to add insult to injury, Mattel also brought Barney the Dinosaur back from extinction through a CGi reboot. Yes, Barney was everywhere in the 90's and 2000's because he was popular with little children, but he was also hated by older children and adults because his show did not have any substance for them and was made to appeal only to little children. In 2009, HiT Entertainment put Barney on hiatus not because of ratings issues, but because Thomas' merchandise outsold Barney's for the first time since its popularity peaked in the 90's. High-quality Thomas merchandise was everywhere and children and collectors couldn't get enough of it despite that fact, so HiT made the wise decision to shelve Barney and focus more on their really useful engine. Today, Mattel has done the exact opposite of what HiT did.
I heard mattel has plans for a wishbone movie and on one hand I'm glad wishbone is being acknowledged but I'm also concerned on how their handling of wishbone will turn out since mattel knows nothing about any of the PBS properties they got.
@@AutZentus Personally, I think it was best to let Wishbone end on a high note rather than let the series suffer from seasonal rot. Thomas went through several dark ages as a result of his long-running status, namely the HiT era and the Big World! Big Adventures! era. (The former is nowhere near as bad as the latter, though.)
@@FlyingDuckMan360 Well it's not like they could continue casting soccer as wishbone because the dog actor was getting old and passed on in 2000-2001. Plus the other reason they stopped making wishbone was because someone said wishbone couldn't be marketable for merchandise when they're literally had plushies and even a small line of figures where the dog had his different literature costumes. Something tells me that this supposed movie will be completely CGI since they can't find a dog exactly like the OG.
There are many things I agree with on this video, and I do appreciate and respect your opinions and choices, but there are things I do disagree with and I'd probably do different. Not to shoot down your thoughts of course, but here's how I'd do things. I would also have AEG cancelled, while I find it overhated and find it to be not as bad as what say it is, it still lacks the feel of Thomas. I would start off by making it a 5 year plan. I would probably take a huge risk and go back to the models, many fans will say that it would feel out of place nowadays, but that is basically the point. Thomas works better as its own thing and isn't trying to be like other shows, so while they might be expensive, I am going with the models as I feel they are the most profitable. Perfect for the 5 minute run, and have 3 episodes that would be 10 minutes (classed as mini-specials) As for characters, I would start off with a small cast only for it to expand as years go on. I will be a bit controversial and start off with the Steam Team (from S8-21) and let this roster slowly die out as the cast expands... and yes I am including Emily. Sorry bro... lol The cast will be back in-character, like you said: Edward being wise, kind and brave, Henry not being a hypochondriac and scaredy cat, Gordon no longer used as a butt-of-the-joke which is what BWBA did. I'm going with the narrator as well, but I'd actually add a male and female voice for all the characters.
Great analysis, but I would do a few things differently: - Still push for more female characters in the show, just make them well-rounded characters that make for good stories - Keep characters' voices instead of having narration for everything
@@SodorProductions right, but that's still a pretty small fraction of the cast. Ofc you could play with my head canon that engines get their personality from whoever designs them, and most builders were male...
Mattel with their resources could have a CGI and classic model series running simultaneously. I think CGI should have narrator + individual voices to avoid the uncannieness in Season 12.
The "bring back Thomas back how it was in the 90s & 2000s/Classic & Brenner eras" crowd honestly needs to grow tf up LMAO There is literally a fandom sub-culture out there dedicated to model-making, writing stories, adapting said stories as well as making a Thomas canon from the ground up & the fact that these mfs still constantly dig themselves into a corner hoping that the franchise would return to its "former glory" is pretty comical if you ask me
Also, Marketing! Go Hard on the Marketing! Another main reason that the bwba movie failed was because the film wasn't marketed well, advertise it, have youtubers look at their products, have Sir Topham Hatt appear on BBC News, have a Nintendo direct sort of showcase, do whatever is necessary to make sure people know that Thomas was back!
I feel the best thing to do with Bachmann with the you want this character, you get this character thing the what if like, every 4-6 months they put a poll up on all their social media and ask who people want between a few characters and the most voted wins and the other two get put back into the running in later times
I am not triggered by any of this. I am sharing my honest opinion of what I think would be good for the wooden railway brand and many others. I honestly believe for the wooden railway it would be nice if we stayed with the 2022 wooden railway, but recreate those old style of sets. Having lots of fun and creative sets for the kids who would get the toys. Having more and more characters for the brand. Even having an idea I used to have as magnetic faces for the hard core collectors. Having the best of both worlds for adults and children. And possibly doing how Bandai did the Godzilla line. Having the s.h ma for collectors figures for the adult godzilla fans, and the mms for the kids. And for the stuff such as statues, why not have actual places in sodor? Like statues of scenes with dioramas of crashes and scenes. Maybe even those statues they have in the actual show. Like the lion of sodor or that statue from the HIT seasons. And possibly they could have human character figures. I know my expectations are high. But honestly I would like if these would happen. It could re-introduce the brand as a fun brand for new children and the returning adults.
Thomas fans try not to criticise us for having issues with All Engines Go in 2024 challenge: IMPOSSIBLE! Also people still bitch about BWBA so what’s your point?
In my opinion, I think it's time to let the brand rest for a while. All the magic that made Seasons 1-5 and Seasons 17-21 great is all gone. The brand needs time to be dormant for a while before they can try again. If they reboot the brand and bring in people who actually care, than that would be a miracle. But it's far too soon now. I'm 23 years old and I grew up with both Seasons 1-5 and Seasons 17-21. We had a good thing but it's over now and most of us have moved on. I want Thomas to return at some point in the future but it's far too soon. If All Engines Go does end next year, than I don't want to see another Thomas reboot for at least six years. The brand needs to rest for a while.
Okay. I'm sorry, but I have to point some things out. This vjseo seems to be based on what was good about the past and trying to bring it back. I understand nostalgia as I am nostalgic myself and I fully remember the days where I would play with my ERTL and wood, Tomy and Take Along trains for houra if I could. I rmemeber all the cool stuff that the wooden range had, including the clickety clack track. That was awesome! But is Mattel goingnto juat reasurect the past just like that? Probably not the same way we would like if they did. Want to know why we had the crappy barely painted Wood engines at one point? It was because everything was becoming more expensive due to the economy. So lowering the prices of toy trains isn't going tonhappen just like that without making cuts somewhere, which will affect the quality of the toys. As for the show, yes All Engines Go is different, but it is for a new generation of children. I agree it's not to my taste and I prefer the old school Thomas to the current one. I admit I was a hater like everyone else at one point, but I eventually came to accept the existence of All Engines Go and even collected a few of the trains. I haven't watched the series itself, so I can't really say whether I like it or not. It just dosen't appeal to me. As for Magic Railroad, yes it's a jumbled mess, but you have to understand those of us who grew up in the states will have a fondness for the Shining Time side of the Thomas world as well as the Sodor side. If I made a Thomas film series, magic would be present but only appear in the Shining Time films, like fantasy in Marvel being saved for Thor and Dr Strange while Iron Man and Captain America had more grounded films. Bottom line, I understand nostalgia, and bringing things similar to what we had as kids would be great, but I don't think they can be the exact same unfortunately. You would have to come up with something new. What I would do is keep All Engines Go, but also have a series on Netflix or something for older fans to watch, like a more realistic series that has the tone of Tugs or Season 5 or something along those lines.
This video was basically a fun wishlist. I never say they will do this, you know. Just like all my videos. I love TATMR. I think having two types of a series, will only lead for Mattel to care about one over time. Whichever gives more $$$ basically. Food for thought.
listen, we get it. AEG isnt as good as what we did have, and we want the old stuff back, like tomy, old wooden railway, etc. but we can't change what we do have. like my mother has said, "well then, be happy that you had the good stuff to begin with, and stop complaining."
Fun fact: We’re allowed to suggest how to fix how it is now. No one wants to have their childhoods back, we’re just trying to give today’s generation what they truly deserve.
The only major thing I'd alter from your proposition is the casting choices. I wouldn't stop at Season 6 for applicable characters (and I personally don't like Spencer). You said that a passionate writer can write stories for days with a particular character or group, but that can just as effectively apply to later debuts, like Emily, Arthur, & Murdoch, and even CGI originals, like Victor, Luke, & Stephen. The big takeaway should have been to just scrap the Steam Team concept and make it an ensemble cast series again with a rotating focus depending on how ideas come about for stories, whether original or Railway Series adapted.
I miss the era during The Great Discovery and Hero of the Rails' releases (Summer 2008 - Late 2009) when there was an aisle or two of a 5H17 ton of toys and merchandise on your local Target, Walmart, Toys R Us, etc.
SODOR SLOW MAI BOI THOMAS DOWN HE GONNA CRASH!!! PETER SAM NOOOO- HENRY NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 also love that Rhenas and Skarloey Argued😂😂😂😂😂❤❤😂😂
Personally I would settle for them going back to cgi and using doing things like adding a little more realism or maybe they could redo the classic episodes but it cgi at least that would be better than what the show devolved into. Or better yet create episodes that use real life inspirations and also maybe cover Sodor in the modern day with things like Tornado being the first main line steam locomotive built since the 1960’s or Flying Scotsman being 100 years old
18:54 while yes, model railway is expensive, this range of ttte products in particular is considerably more basic and kinda cheap in comparison with other more complex models in level of detail, mechanisms, and features. Yet this range is expensive for what it is, so not only get off the eye's mechanisms, but also make the prize reasonable, or give it a more quality mechanisms, give more weight with diecast parts more complex features like separate fitted hand rails, make it more accurate details of the original models etc.
@@joshuaW5621 BadManored's opinions on the franchise and reinterpretations are decidedly controversial among the fandom, but he understands that not everyone will accept his work. This guy speaks as if his opinions are fact and like his demands to bring back ERTL Thomas, canning individual voice actors in favor of just a narrator when the show had evolved past that, and shrinking the cast when so many of these post-Season 6 characters were never bad so much as they were wasted potential that could've been expanded upon (see Rosie, Paxton, etc)
Honestly, I would like it if they made 1984 accurate gauge one models of all the characters and for the 50th anniversary of the show, have the pilot models made for the milestone of the show. They would have to put working eye mechanisms and have interchangeable faces. It would be a nice model line for older fans of the tv series.
I would add Real locomotives I would add More aviation characters name the show to "Thomas and friends: Dream Island Of Sodor" I would make it both CGI and model series, most episodes are model series I would make a Thomas and friends Crossover with Roblox, Pixar Cars, and Tugs and I won't write out any characters that people love I would do these if I have the chance to take over mattel
I love these ideas they're awesome However I feel like if a modern thomas fan worked at Mattel they would make Mattel go bankrupt in 1 day lol if you get what I mean
Excellent video, man! I agree with a lot of things you’ve said in this video! However, I still think the newer Wooden Railway line is an improvement over Thomas Wood. And I still think BWBA is overall meh 😑, but not as good as seasons 17-21.
If it were up to me, I’d make the engines’ crew and railway workers less like the engine’s consciouses and support and make them a little more comical but still competent. Like they can have funny moments while working such as pratfalls or telling jokes like they did in the books, or even work together to teach their engines lessons.
Man... if only. On the one hand I feel inclined to say that a lot of the things you ask for are "unrealistic" ... but the thing is you're really not asking for anything that we haven't already gotten in some form in the past. Very sad that the series has fallen so far that it almost feels impossible to recreate what once was. I actually think that we should have more characters in the TVS than just S1-6; I also think we should have gotten every RWS character in the TVS. I understand that they couldn't make the Arlesdale engines in model form because they didn't have the technology at the time, but in a CGI show there is no excuse to not show all of Wilbert and Chris' characters at least once. It's a shame we never got to see the Culdee Fell railway on screen in any form. It's so wild to me that there's a whole railway ON SODOR that NOBODY ever mentions in the show. It's also so sad that we never got to see Bear, there's probably so many fans who don't even know who Bear is. The BIGGEST thing I agree with you on is that we need basic rolling stock and destinations in merchandise lines. Even as a kid it was so baffling to me that I could get fucking "gold prospector cars" or "aquarium cars" but I couldn't buy basic box cars, salt vans, green express coaches, brake vans, etc. It was weirdly difficult to create consists that actually look like the tv series in wooden railway. Also big agree that we need better merch distribution. One store you didn't mention is Barnes and Noble. Tbh idk why TWR was so huge in B&N back in the day, but it was. I probably would never have gotten into TWR as a little kid, or at least not to the degree that I did, if my dad hadn't taken me to B&N all the time and let me play at the display table with a whole massive wall of models available right there. I think removing the eye mechs in Bachmann engines is a good idea since it'd save money and I've heard that the extra gearing can actually wear out the whole mechanism/motor faster. I also think there should be static face packs available with all of the expressions from the model and CGI series so people can just choose what they want. The only thing I really disagree with is narration vs character VAs. I love all the old narrators but if the show is CGI animated it doesn't make sense for the engines to not have moving mouths that talk for themselves. Do you really want a CGI show with Alec Baldwin as the voice of god saying "Henry said xyz" while Henry just stares blankly like in the model series? Idk that's the one thing where I just don't understand your logic here.
I don't think the TWR 2022 line is that bad, yes the prices are stupid and the wheels are pretty thick, but I like them honestly, it's much better than thomas wood >:(. Although, I do agree that they didn't make enough items, they should've made more. And plus, they're still sold at stores, but just random ones like Barnes and noble for some reason. I understand your opinions tho
I like most the things you’ve proposed, but I have just 1 question: who will be the main female character if Emily is gone, as much as people don’t want to admit it, shows these days need prominent female characters, it’s basically socially required
I feel like we should take like a 5-10 year long break with the Thomas the Tank Engine franchise (that includes toys, seasons, movies/TV specials) and then come back witn a season 25 of the original show reverted back to the Brenner era levels of writing and being the continuation of where it left out. Also wanting ERTL to come back in 2024-25 is delusional, ERTL is now but dead, and now got replaced 3 times with Take Along, then Take N Play, and now Trackmaster Push Along. Sorry bud

So much exposition over 40 year old children's brand based on a series of family literatures.

I swear all these ‘What I’d do with Thomas’ videos always end up the same.
Agreed istg They repeat the same s*it like a bloody Pokémon
“This is where the fun begins!”
I believe that’s going to be a recurring joke for a while…
Great video on how Mattel should make Thomas & friends great again. If Mattel really cared about the fans then they should listen to us.
These days (although I’m ok with it), they always appeal to the younger audiences so much that people from the earlier days, whether it be the 80s, 90s or 00’s, get screwed over because what they love is now ruined :(
The Brenner era was a good CGI era for Thomas since it did briefly have good writing and stories for a while before BWBA happened.
My level of delusional:
I think it’s ridiculous to try and make Thomas what it used to be but we could definitely go back to 2015 era CGI.
Yea, we can just watch it again, right??
At least this guy isn't the one person that made a bombing threat
this video is just
''cancel all engines go and make everything like the 90s again but cgi''
Not entirely.
So basically seasons 17-21
And Thomas fell off after 2017, since Andrew Brenner, the guy who saved the franchise, left
@@PurpleGuy661 actually he left during season 23.

I agree with him, plus trains are trains, not like humans, I kinda want the original back, I hope Mattel will listen, if they don't, they keep going to make it worse
>how do you have the energy to do that
>writes a 20 minute video about a children's tv show
A lot of this seems like wish fulfillment.
Those two Carlin clips at the beginning were HILARIOUS.
They were. 😂

I would agree that the characters should have individual voices, to me it workes better having voice actors I a show like Thomas that is animated
I think Ryan should stay, as a reminder to Thomas that he could be replaced if he does not straighten up, we can also see Ryan Thomas dynamics like Thomas being angry with Ryan like at Sodor s legends
I agreed up until the idea of cancelling wooden railway 2022. Just change the wheels and faces, then they are perfect

A tip for Mattel to save Take n play is make them similar to the 2012/2013 versions but with better paint
Yes, early 2010s Take N Play all the way.
Yeah I do agree with lot of things you said,
I respect your opinion as long as you don't go your opinion is wrong and people are stupid for liking something you don't like.
I would say that the show needed a main female character though.
Yes it does but I feel that the idea of adding female characters that are there just for diversity and had not been established in the show was a poor choice like Emily while some may not like her at least we did get to know her and she wasn’t immediately added to the main cast
The greatest benefit of this 19 minute video, is realising Turbot actually was a member of the paw patrol
Hi
Hi
Here is what I would do
1.) Keep All Engines Go! as an alternate universe TV show to Thomas & Friends, like how Kamp Koral: SpongeBob's Under Years is an alternate universe TV show to SpongeBob SquarePants.
As Victor Tanzig once said: Are you familiar with the term "cancel culture"?
Bachmann should totally update their Thomas and Friends locomotives.
Agree now if Mattel goes after the fan content or stories then I say we all riot
@ryancampbell4119 Sounds good to me.
I actually agree. Edward does not need to be a main character.
I'm pretty sure they announced wooden railways cancelation earlier this year anyway....so that can be checked off
17:10 Ertl is to inconsistent and having the tenders attached is just silly.
I feel like a better idea is to have more characters in the background. Like Murdock, Molly, Hiro, ects. Hell, add some Fandom characters to the mix.
Not even one minute in, and I'm dying of laughter. Great editing!

Yes or magnetic faces!
Yes. 100% yes!!

i dont think having a singular narrator would be very good. imo the different voices add so much depth to the episodes.
I wasn’t even around for Tomy but I still have a good collection of them and hate the new stuff. Was born in 2012 btw
I don't even have any Tomy stuff lol
Man what i could have wish to have back was like this: Model series back on it's peak same with merch also the railway series being back on sales and the good old Thomas games being back on their peak era that's what i wish for but i know it will be impossible
Sadly yes.
@SodorProductions Yeah.
If you remove the eye mechanism (I've said this in the Percy review video), here's what you do to not only please the fans, but also make bank:
Make the faces magnetically adhere to the smokeboxes and then have a single 'standard' or 'neutral' face accompany the model.
WHO SAID THAT ABOUT MY CHILDREN
as a paw patrol fan and thomas fan i find it hell funny you called all engine go a paw patrol ripoff and you know what your not wrong and i find that funny
what surprises me is how the Bachmann Thomas line has still not yet been hit hard by the AEG transformation, and I hope it stays that way. Not to mention removing the eye mech not only would make models cheaper, but also run more reliably.
Yes!
Bachmann said they’ve no plans to switch to AEG and hopefully it stays that way.
@@AutZentus Also Wendy's and Dairy Queen had Kids' Meal toys based on the show. I remember the pirate ship that could squirt water.
Perfect for the 5 minute run, and have 3 episodes that would be 10 minutes (classed as mini-specials)
As for characters, I would start off with a small cast only for it to expand as years go on.
Bachmann of all companies is probably the only one that captures the essence of it
Imma say bachmann is one of the last Thomas merch companies in 2024 that know what the fuck their doing
Your idea is greater than ever. Who could replace that?

Hell yeah bro.
i feel like there’s no saving thomas at this point but miracles can happen
@BritishThomasGuy I feel Thomas' quality can only improve if another company acquires the license.
Great analysis, but I would do a few things differently:
- Still push for more female characters in the show, just make them well-rounded characters that make for good stories
- Keep characters' voices instead of having narration for everything

There is literally a fandom sub-culture out there dedicated to model-making, writing stories, adapting said stories as well as making a Thomas canon from the ground up & the fact that these mfs still constantly dig themselves into a corner hoping that the franchise would return to its "former glory" is pretty comical if you ask me
Also, Marketing!
I like how I click on the video and the first thing I hear is George Carlin saying F word you to me
I feel the best thing to do with Bachmann with the you want this character, you get this character thing the what if like, every 4-6 months they put a poll up on all their social media and ask who people want between a few characters and the most voted wins and the other two get put back into the running in later times

I would bring Plarail into the US as the engines are detailed.

@ bloody hell lad it’s been 6 years since bwba GET OVER IT!
@@Gregory_ferrandis yeah, tell that to the people who are still being salty over it and what they did with Edward and Henry.

@@johnthechoochooaddict796 technically the same crew were still involved as well.
@ I know but something about Seasons 6 and 7 felt off.
Food for thought.
tl;dw: "everything old is good and everything new is bad and if you disagree you weren't alive to see it"
YEP. 🤣🤣🤣
listen, we get it.
@@joshuaW5621 thats fair, it just feels like this is all caused by anger from the fandom, mainly for their childhood being "taken from them"
Finally! This is the type of video I’ve wanted someone to make for a while
The only major thing I'd alter from your proposition is the casting choices.
Yea the steam team was very bad for the show and its flow, agreed brother.
0:23 isn't this the guy who voiced the modle seires for the US?

Yes! Stores were full of the blue Thomas boxes!
@@SodorProductions with red, yellow or brown striping depending on the brand!
That makes it even worse for people like me who are into model trains in general.
I can’t believe how reasonable BadManoredProductions sounds compared to this guy.
What’s that supposed to mean?
@@joshuaW5621 BadManored's opinions on the franchise and reinterpretations are decidedly controversial among the fandom, but he understands that not everyone will accept his work. This guy speaks as if his opinions are fact and like his demands to bring back ERTL Thomas, canning individual voice actors in favor of just a narrator when the show had evolved past that, and shrinking the cast when so many of these post-Season 6 characters were never bad so much as they were wasted potential that could've been expanded upon (see Rosie, Paxton, etc)
@ he’s not demanding, he just said these were his ideas for what he would do. If you don’t like his ideas then just say it.
When Ringo Starr's image appeared, I thought he was going to say "If people want Ringo Starr, you give them Ringo Starr.
You make me smile again
Yay.

I agree with you 100% and I subscribed to your channel just now.

Brilliant video ☺☺😎😊🤩😁
Honestly, I would like it if they made 1984 accurate gauge one models of all the characters and for the 50th anniversary of the show, have the pilot models made for the milestone of the show. They would have to put working eye mechanisms and have interchangeable faces. It would be a nice model line for older fans of the tv series.
We Need to fix Thomas The Tank Engine & Friends TV SHOWS
I miss old wooden Thomas 😭 and old track master
I would add Real locomotives
I would add More aviation characters
name the show to "Thomas and friends: Dream Island Of Sodor"
I would make it both CGI and model series, most episodes are model series
I would make a Thomas and friends Crossover with Roblox, Pixar Cars, and Tugs
and I won't write out any characters that people love
I would do these if I have the chance to take over mattel
I love these ideas they're awesome However I feel like if a modern thomas fan worked at Mattel they would make Mattel go bankrupt in 1 day lol if you get what I mean
Excellent video, man! I agree with a lot of things you’ve said in this video! However, I still think the newer Wooden Railway line is an improvement over Thomas Wood. And I still think BWBA is overall meh 😑, but not as good as seasons 17-21.
I miss when Hornby used to produce the characters😢😢😢
I wish i was born in the era of tomy and GOOD wooden railway
2:19 I found them mostly at Barnes and Noble overstocked....
Overstocked because no one buys them. That's not a major store either, at all.
@SodorProductions I agree nobody buys them but also Barnes and Noble is literally the biggest name in the south
Ya so did I
Wooden Railway, Take Along, Tomica World, Bachmann and Ertl are the superior Thomas toy lines! Lets bring those back!
Fair. Thank you. 🩷
@@SodorProductions no problem👍
I like most the things you’ve proposed, but I have just 1 question: who will be the main female character if Emily is gone, as much as people don’t want to admit it, shows these days need prominent female characters, it’s basically socially required
I think you mistyped main female character?
@ yes
I feel like we should take like a 5-10 year long break with the Thomas the Tank Engine franchise (that includes toys, seasons, movies/TV specials) and then come back witn a season 25 of the original show reverted back to the Brenner era levels of writing and being the continuation of where it left out. Also wanting ERTL to come back in 2024-25 is delusional, ERTL is now but dead, and now got replaced 3 times with Take Along, then Take N Play, and now Trackmaster Push Along. Sorry bud
