I’m watching this video 10 days after it aired, and I’m finally packing my 18 dresses to Mari today. So fun to see all of the creative makes and love sewn onto each one. I was a quilter for many years and have tons of fabric that I’ve been using for these dresses the past 3 years. It’s a great way to use up your stash and feel so good about it. Thank you, Mari, for all you do!❤️
I'm so glad I found this project! Wonderful opportunity to give back to those in need. I'm a grandma of 6 in Nashville, TN and am so happy to do something for girls who may not have the same environment my granddaughters enjoy! I've got 4 tee shirt dresses underway and will send them soon. God bless the women who are sewing for these precious girls!
Haven't put any heart pockets on yet, but seeing the one you first picked up, I knew I was definitely going to do that, then I also had the idea for tulip and flower shaped pockets. I like the waist tie idea, oh, the trims, they're aDORable!

Yay! Thanks for making dresses!!! I’ll add them to the count. Next year I’ll most likely move to preprinted cards. I didn’t anticipate the hours I’d spend writing cards 😂. (180 orders) It’s less of a personal touch, but way more efficient. A great problem to have! Thank you so much!

However, while playing the taped video I've been taking extensive notes on the dress designs, pocket variations, various trims used, fabric prints, etc. for making dresses for next year and into the future! Mari: If you want a copy of my notes, let me know. Just had to put my chores aside to enjoy this unboxing video. LOVE IT!!!!! ❤
I made 3 dresses & I do believe in the cause. I think though that cutesy stuff is being added to the dresses because we love cute things but isn’t the main concern that the girls have a dress with a pocket & not have a “cute” dress with a flower, etc. which takes up more time that could be used to possibly work on another dress. The girls need a practical dress & not jazzed up as I see people sewing them like they are making them to wear in everyday America for their granddaughters. My 2 cents worth as I realize people will be upset but I’m just being practical. The more dresses we can make the better. I made larger dresses for 8-12 yo. Thank you Mari!
Thank you so much for making dresses for the girls, especially the bigger girls who sometimes get overlooked. I invite everyone to give in a way that their heart leads them, whether that’s making as many beautiful dresses as they possibly can, or making one dress with all the bells and whistles. Personally, I think either approach is wonderful and is a beautiful gift to the girls to show them that they are loved and deserve dignity and respect. You are not the only person who prefers to make many dresses in lieu of fewer jazzed up dresses, and your opinion matters so thank you so much for commenting and helping these girls with your gift. 🥰

Great seeing all the beautiful dresses and creativity and embellishments. I am stealing so many ideas. I thought about also making scrunchies with my leftover fabric and putting them in the pockets like the lady putting socks in the pockets. What a great idea. I also will add cap sleeves to many of my dresses. Thanks for the tutorial.

Hi all: I have 10 dresses. I need to sew on the labels(only have 9 labels) so one of the dresses will need to have a label sewn on by someone when they arrive) I will be getting them off to Mari as soon as I am done with the labels. Bless you all! ( I am in Wisconsin)🥰

Daphne in California- Thanks for showing my dresses. Hopefully the big girls can use them. I include t-shirts when modesty could be an issue, especially if they want to wear their sundress to church. I often use a lining for the same reason.
I run a non-profit sewing studio in Chantilly, VA. We are committing to making 10 dresses for 2024. Lots of girls from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will be helping with this project. Such a wonderful way for my students to learn how to sew.

@@MariSews Most are sizes 6-10Y Also not all have labels as it took a bit to get them because I just found out about this. I also didn’t know to put labels on both sides of the reversible dresses.

Daphne- I like making the peasant dress, but the sundresses take less fabric. I have made several t-shirt dresses as well.
I think I get so many sundresses because people can use the scrappy bits quite easily. And their still beautiful
