    📝 Overview 📝
Want to earn passive income or do you need cash but don’t want to sell your crypto? Well, there is a way to do all that by using a crypto lending platform.
In this video, I’ll tell you everything you need to know about them and help choose the right platform for you!
❓ What Are Crypto Lending Platforms ❓
These platforms provide two key services:
► They allow you to supply crypto to earn interest.
► To deposit crypto to get instant loans.
But how do these loans work? In a nutshell, you offer up crypto as collateral and get a percentage of that collateral in either fiat or stablecoins. If the price of crypto moves against you, in fiat terms, then your crypto could get sold to cover the outstanding loan.
There are no credit checks at all and they are usually instantly approved. Another key reason people go for this type of lending is to get cash to spend in the real world today, whilst retaining ownership of their crypto.
    5️⃣ Blockfi 5️⃣
This lending platform operates out of New York city and was founded in 2017.
You can get rates as high a 6% for supplying Bitcoin and 8.6% for stablecoins.
Security is also a priority here and the platform is about as secure as the Gemini exchange - that’s because Gemini is its primary custodian. I do need to tell you that Blockfi recently did fall prey to a SIM-swap hack attack and some confidential information was leaked as a result.
If you want to get a crypto loan, you can do just that at Blockfi by providing BTC, ETH or LTC as collateral. The standard loan-to-value ratio here is 50% and the minimum loan amount is a whopping $10,000.
    4️⃣ Nexo 4️⃣
Nexo is actually an offshoot of a company called Credissimo which has been in action since 2007. Since 2018, Nexo has processed over $1.5 billion for over 550k users. That means this is a damn popular crypto lending platform.
Interest rates are as high as 8% for assets like Ether, USDC, Paxos, TrueUSD, Dai, Euros and GBP. On top of that killer rate, you can get an additional rate bump to 10% if you hold enough Nexo tokens in your wallet.
In terms of security, funds are insured for up to $100 million via Bitgo. However, you must remember that the platform is centralized and needs KYC.
For those wanting to get a loan, you can do just that for amounts between $500 and $2 million and you’ll pay around 5.9% APR to make that happen.
    3️⃣ Crypto.com 3️⃣
I’ve already gone over Crypto.com in another video so I recommend you check that out!
    2️⃣ Celsius 2️⃣
These guys have been in business since 2017 and boast over 133,000 users with over $850 million in assets. The platform has also facilitated over $8 billion in loan originations.
Interest rates here are as high as 11.9% if you accept interest payment in CEL token and interest can be earned in a plethora of different currency stablecoins.
As a centralized platform, Celsius has all the security shortcomings of the other platforms mentioned in this video. That being said, user funds are insured for up to $100 million via Bitgo again and Celsius has committed to using its own balance sheet.
There are no minimum deposit amounts on this platform. That makes it perfect for anyone dipping their toes into the crypto lending waters.
If you want to get a crypto loan, there is a lot of flexibility when it comes to LTV, collateral types and loan terms. Oh yes, the minimum loan is only $1,000.
    1️⃣ Aave 1️⃣
Watch the video to find out why I have made Aave my number one pick!

There is one thing you overlooked on BlockFi in contrast to others. It is their compound interest for which they pay not only interest on the original amount but also for aggregated amount. So overtime the passive income will be parabolic not linear after certain point if you hold your fund long enough.

With Stablecoin interest (usdt, cusd, DAI, etc) the risk is low as you're essentially hoping fiat, but interest rates are 10-18%. Personally I invest in 'riskier' assets. I believe greater than 18% p/a off the growth of BTC(+6% interest), or upcoming coins like DOT, ADA and BNB is likely. Try a 70:30 portfolio to offset your risk :)

Can you please, help me answer this question Guy? You make some of the best most simply explained videos on cryptocurrency I've found. I wanna know what the appeal of MakerDAO is now? I had the MKR token too & it tanked on me, I bought at $500 & it was down so low, so long, when it finally rallied with BTC pump I missed an opp to sell at $590 finally & just got sick of waiting & wanted BTC,so got out at $513 only to see it now hitting $569, go figure, I don't understand why? the Maker DAO system, since the controversial flash crash & liquidation, seems a waste of time. You make a whopping %0.00 interest if you save DAI, so what on Earth is the incentive to use the system? Compound Tanked on me too & I see not much more to interest anyone to using it either. I can make %4-%10 interest on saving Crypto & Stablecoins in NEXO & I thank you for your review on that & yes, I know it's custodial, but considering it's insured for up to $100M then why worry, it's a legit company with massive insurance, like FDIC & I can borrow a huge percentage if need be. So far it's the highest interest rate on most I've found, but I use www.Loanscan.io to find highest & I am signed up or signing up to others, I got www.Crypto.com app too etc. & I plan to stake there & I got Exodus Wallet & Monarch wallet about to setup & use. Why would anyone be interested in %0 on MakerDAO or compound (at least I see interest rates on compound, but not as high as I have with nexo, USDC for example is currently only Supply APY of %1.57, compared to my %8, who cares?) Can you do a video on this sort of comparison? Interest rates & playing the interest game is my new game & then loaning out if need be to buy other investments that increase.

Hello Guy, I have a question. While it's pretty clear that the risks associated with centralized lending platforms are related to not owning your keys, I don't understand what are the smart contracts risks associated with faulty coding in Aave. What is the risk if we stay owners of our crypto? Is it just loosing the rewards or is also the invested token stash at risk? If yes in what way?

Hi- awesome video but I have to take issue with your characterization of Celsius w/regard to where they offer loans. I've staked BTC on their platform for about 3 mons now but extremely frustrated with their lack of transparency with regard to where the can lend. I have resident in both the UK and USA and they've told me they *do not lend* to the UK (they use a non-interest bearing vehicle that's essentially a leade back of 100% of your coin), they've also told me they don't lend in California, New York nor Nevada. They have not and will not post a list of the countries where they do loan- where do you get that one for this video because its misleading. If one wants to find out where the do lend, you have to write to a special email address. I've challenged them on it before and they give criptic answers like, "It is not suspicious. It is due to regulatory reasons as we want to make sure it is not considered as solicitation."
So they're not as transparent as it seems to be they should be.

@guy I’m trying to understand the point of borrowing on a DEFI platform if your LTV of your collateral is only 50/60%? In addition to this you will need 100% collateral before you qualify to take out a “loan”. Currently CEFI is offering better terms. ( Using Nexo platform as an example)

Technically speaking I agree that AAVE is the best option as the crypto never goes out of your control and there is no security risk to your data. Normally your reviews are very comprehensive and they include all pros & cons. I am surprised how you missed out the fact that AAVE is completely useless for retail investors currently due to the crazy ETH processing fees. To deposit $50-$100 of DAI it will cost you $4-$5 in ETH fee. You will have to pay processing fee again when you withdraw your coins. This means a small investor can never make a profit from AAVE till the ETH gas fee stays high.

I choose Celsius for a couple reasons; they have more coins at higher rates. All in all I'm yielding $500 a month in passive income! That's soon to go up as currently we are down about 50%. Potentially, when the market is back up, I could be yielding $1000 a month. Passive income is the best!

The guaranteed interest on these things just make them so attractive.. I wish there was a system where I could use it like a typical bank account, and they'd auto convert my money into a stable coin that earns interest until I spend it.
Then I could just direct deposit into it, use it like a bank without thinking too much and make some incredible interest rates that destroy all my "high yeild" 1%apy fiat accounts

Hi Guy, thanks a lot for your enlightening videos and your huge research work! One question regarding the huge rise of Bitcoin right now: do you think this incredible increase of BTC value is a threat to the centralized lending platforms you mentioned here? My thoughts are: if these platforms are selling Bitcoin to pay out the lending amounts and the price sky-rockets before the loans are paid back, it would be very difficult for the sites to buy back Bitcoin and pay the interest to the investors! What do you think about that?

    • @sandralebron1930

    Wait so...
Let’s say I wanted to cash out of btc bcuz I think it hit top.
Let’s say I borrowed against 100$ worth of btc.
Would my collateral have to be twice the loan or the same price?
Let’s say btc were to tank 30% right after I took out the loan, would it cost me 30% less to unlock my collateral?
Also, does the interest rate slowly increase the value at which I have to pay back to unlock my loan; ex: 100$ down = 106$ end of year I would have to pay to unlock (assuming price of Btc remains the same)???

I'm researching this myself too and at this point I have serious concerns in regarding Nexo.
They are advertising as "Regulated Financial Institute" Yet apart from "Please rest assured that Nexo is compliant" they won't provide their regulatory body registration number (Cysec, FCA I mean here) even after few emails back and forth. They refuse to provide a simple Yes/No answer to my question "Can I lose my assets while parked at Nexo, earning interest"At one of the emails to generate credibility the guy wrote: "Nexo’s managing partner, Antoni Trenchev, is frequently invited by leading media outlets such as Bloomberg (link) and CNBC" - I simply replied with Bernie Madoff was on Bloomberg and SNBC all the time...

watch the free London Real (youtube channel & website) video with the the Nexo co-founder Antoni Trenchev, who explains how the Gov.Fin. Regulation authorities are dragging forever all the crypto platform permits. Majority of the permits are on temporary basis, re-issued every year - still a permit for crypto regulation, just would not be announced officially.

I was deep in CEL but now I’m even deeper since the token 8x’d since March 12. ALEX Mashinsky, the CEO and co-founder was also the creator of VOIP which gives free voice calls to billions of users. Celsius is his 8th startup who’s mission it is to unbank people from the traditional banks who literally steal from you, by keeping all the interest for themselves and their shareholders. Celsius on the other hand gives depositors 80% of what they earn back to the community as interest! No one else in the industry comes even close to what Celsius is doing
