Thanks for the vid man. Got a 2010 Jeep Cherokee got to fix. I appreciate the diy community helping people save a buck. Very clear instruction. Glad you got the lettuce out 😅
Thank you for sharing this, I had no idea how to get the console out and have been putting this job off for too long. I appreciate you struggling with it so your viewers won't have to ❤👏🙌💯
Great video thanks for posting this. Went to park the other day to find my parking brake in my 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee come all the way up too. This video contained exactly what I needed to know. New cable on the way and interior partly dismantled. ha
Thanks for the video. I didn't have the emergency brake cable problem. I had a problem with the switch attached to the handle that turns on the (Brake) light in the dash. I was searching for hours trying to find out how to remove the floor console. Your video helped me with that. Thanks again.
Hey man awesome vid! Been lookin for a video about this type of Jeep's E brake mechanisms. The problem I'm dealing with is the button on the handle fails to engage the lock. I think it might be the spring or the button itself, but it should be an easy fix for me. Thanks again!
There's a mechanism inside that handle that breaks off and won't let the button work. You might want to hit ebay or a dismantling yard and find a whole new handle. Unfortunately, they don't produce them anymore.
Thanks for the video. First time it happens to me amd it was beyond helpful. But my e-brake still doesn't work when I pull the handle. I noticed the flat coil on yours moves with the whole thing but mine doesn't. Any idea why?
Either way, if the cable is connected, and nothing is happening, your actual handle may have broken. Unfortunately, they are not making new ones. You will have to search for a good used one off any WK GC or Commander.
I would check the split under the back seat. Make sure everything is ok there, then go check the right rear wheel brake shoes. There could be a problem with the mechanism behind the disc.
Definitely you're lying or misleading in some points, just to mention 3 examples: 1) when you finally link the lever's cable, what the video clearly shows is a completely loosen mechanism, certainly it's not in the adequate position and/or tension . 2) The "last but not least" part of your video is basically bullshit, a senseless and straight lie/misleading. 3) Hey, it's not quite possible just to "pull off" "take off", etc. the cover of the handbrake lever. After all, not everything is applause and ovation, I must say it, but what is mentioned in observation 2 and 3, far from helping (to other) but you can help spoil the mechanism.
OK. First off, I have no reason to lie or mislead anyone. I went through all this in real time working with what I had. When I made and posted this video, I didn't know my handle itself was broken. I thought it was just the cable. I ended up replacing the whole thing a week later. That is why the mechanism was loose. My handle completely destroyed itself after the vid was posted. I had to redo the whole thing, and I did notice different behavior of the new handle during installation. Secondly, my plastic cover slid off easily just like I showed it doing. That must have been a function of it being old. The new handle I replaced it with would not allow me to take off the cover at all, so I can see why you would see a problem with the old cover sliding right off. I guess my fault here is not posting an updated video showing complete handle replacement. Regardless of my half-broken handle, the general steps toward replacing the cable are valid and do work, not to mention all the other steps I took just to access the broken cable. It was a REAL-TIME video. I did not practice, I couldn't find a single video showing me how to do it, and I had no knowledge of the condition of my parts beforehand. I had NEVER opened up an E-brake handle in my life, and I think I did pretty good going in blind.... just to be called a liar.. NICE.
Bro... you take this car repair stuff pretty seriously huh? Liar? Can't he just be wrong or mistaken. I'm guessing you have some tough stuff going on in your life right now.

Great! You are exactly who I made the video for.. Just be very glad your handle isn't broken. That is going to be a trip to the junkyard..

I'm so glad to hear that.. glad I could shed some light on the subject for you.. I did that same search, so I completely understand.
U didn’t wind the spring on the handle.
That explains why it isnt so springy... GOOD EYES

Man mine just snapped at 13 years old too😂
Just as long as your handle is ok.. There are no new ones..
1:35 How you did that? Just pulling out? Not screws or other fixing device?
It just slid off. no screws just tension
Thanks man
Thank you for the video buddy, I bought my 07 JGC SRT8 with the same problem. I’m able to fix it now 🙌🏽🫶🏽
Were you able to find a new part?
Thanks for the video. First time it happens to me amd it was beyond helpful. But my e-brake still doesn't work when I pull the handle. I noticed the flat coil on yours moves with the whole thing but mine doesn't. Any idea why?
Does the handle fall back down or does it not pull the cable?
Either way, if the cable is connected, and nothing is happening, your actual handle may have broken. Unfortunately, they are not making new ones. You will have to search for a good used one off any WK GC or Commander.
Hey brother this just happens to me after 13 years lol where did you buy the cable ?
Amazon.. the link is in the description.
Hi my cable on the passenger side keeps retracting even though the lever is not engaged. Any idea why this might happened?

@@mCube.Network thank you will check this
I think you mean 2005 to 2010
You're right.. I was thinking of only SRT8's.

Didn’t wind the spring on the handle. U can see the hook of the spring forward of the handle above the cable lock in
