No do quarry first you can do it by day 3 easily and by day 5 or 6 instead you’ll have all level 2-3 gates which is far better than wasting mats on a few lvl 1 gates. Plus on the first 3 days your villagers are strong enough to handle the helthings I promise this is more efficient. Also I highly recommend the warden as you can craft everything 30% less resource cost. You also get an extra rune slot and hp slot and also your weapons never break. Hope this helps!
It’s a solid idea, but for me personally I’m always running Seer for the huge survivability and damage, so I tend to just grab my gates first and then go on massacres until I get my Quarry. Either way around will get you all of them by day 6 regardless. Happy hunting :)
I agree with prioritising the quarry. The payoff is far greater. In fact, I would argue that it’s the make or break decision for any new players. It wasn’t until I focused on the quarry that the game became much easier
I tried to prioritize quarry but couldn't get the materials for it in time I think you are better off doing gates 1st cause you never no if you have immediate access to all that you need for quarry
@@ChuckFinelyForever my friends and I didn’t either. We thought our game was lagging because it felt like our characters were getting a random speed boost. Turns out we were just crossing over dirt paths 😂
Heres a couple tips quickly grab the Pick and Hatchet from breaking a couple trees and stone piles with your special attacks. Run around the Bright Forest and Land of Pools and kill and harvest everything you come across Werewolves/Wolves/Dokkalfar/Goblins/Linnorm. during the night phase keep and eye out for Fingernails to craft the Dark weapons and you can use the Linnorm Horns to craft the Lightning Axes as well as Dokkalfar Thorns to make the hersir Sword III and in these two areas you'll also be able to kill the Boars and Wolves and collect Silver for the Fur and other T2 Armors. as for spending your Iron/Stone/Wood Always do the Quarry out of the three then the Lumbermill. if its single player Focus getting the Gates up asap *I personally do the Quarry first to set myself up for the later days i also upgrade my Tinkerer to 4 Asap so i can collect resources at a higher rate. to make the T4 Tools you'll need to travel to the ash beach. after the Giant is spawned on the map i typically like to kill it or severely weaken it the night of the bloodmoon. then finish it after the bloodmoon is complete. i then proceed to use the following two days to try and locate the Bridge and explore the other Zones Beach/Desert since the night following a bloodmoon the Helthlings don't spawn. try your best to keep your towers and Gates leveled to which bloodmoon is happening *1=1 2=2 3=3* i typically dont level one set of Towers and Gate because thats the one ill guard primarily and only break off to support the other two gates while there is a gap in the spawns.
I was not aware of the horrors of winter. I literally just kept cycling between each gate opening it to clear and sometimes leaving one gate open and using myself as the wall. Ended on day 16 when I ran out of souls to repair and Odin came in.
I love this game a lot so far. I've been looking for something "new" and this is scratching that itch for me rn. I do wish there were more game modes and some that were geared towards single players bc as it stands... It's hard af to play solo and damn near impossible for me at this point. I have a lot to learn about it though.
Me too. For the last 1 week I am gripped. After playing "Control" last year and "Metro" in January ,no game was doing it for me. I am so excited to play this game.
ima be honest same here i actually really really like the game but solo play isnt great and thats why i cant play its a constant headache for solo sadly if you dont follow a super strict way and that takes the fun out of playing a new game yah know
Crafting ramps and such is useful but clunky as all hell. Sometime you find a shrine teleporter just on the other side of a small ridge. If you do not take the time to build a ramp and a platform across you have to go a long way around and waste a couple of minutes before reaching it. I definitely recommend ppl to start paying attention to that feature.
Small bones and Silver ores are also found in that area great for building powerful gear and weapon in early game. So summary of video, 1) Get a powerful weapon on first couple days in the (Light tinted green map) 2) Build a couple gates (+Destroying bridges) 3) Let enemy bosses finish their attack before jumping in fight.
1:34 : Seems more pertinent to go exploring the map (and searching for the bridge and the desert lair), destroying some barricades and OPENING CHESTS (it gives a ton of souls in solo, DON'T LOSE TIME BY CUTTING TREES), level up to unlock the vigil (and its passive skill to come back with the teleportation-stone), craft the quarry/sawmill (we can ignore the firsts two night attacks), then unlock the vigil skills decreasing the ammount of necessary ressources to unlock the village defenses... Also, why vigil? Because this class can get a skill that make equipement indestructible (so, less round trips and it saves some souls) and a skill to craft free platforms (useful to get fast the ruin-chests).
Nah Start with the village builder joint Make ur quarry and lumbeyard (can b done by day 2) Build up ur villagers Then build ur arrow towers Kill the jotun before day 4 (I'm usually done when I meet them cuz I've boosted my blacksmith to lvl3 already)
ive been playing two days. my gates are already built every time i start a new world. i choose the builder mod, whack the quarry up then hunt for halfling fingernailss and amythist for that killer purple sword on level 2 by day three. it seems a bit better than the hersier sword even when the extra elemental damage doesnt count and its sick against the night cretures and witches ect
My dumbass thought the starter kits where one time use becuase I never used them because I got the one achievement one and I think it’s sad that in todays gaming space that they would sell kits or somthing
Awesome vid ! Thx a lot for this. I have a small question tho : for crafting the Hersir sword 3 it tells me to do a quest for unlocking it right ? I tried the wolds event but nothing. Is it a quest from the board in the village ?
Yeah, each game is like a fresh wipe. But every game has a completely different map to explore. I got it last night after playing it all day at my cousins house, for $20 it’s a fun game
build a gate lvl 2 wait untill it gets really full with night monsters then one shot them all with the lightning axe. Lightning is their weakness. it one shots them pretty much if you have it on day 3-5 or prep the lightning axe before hand so you have special attacks prepped and one shot them all.
The game is very difficult at first, but most of the difficulty lies with not knowing specific game elements such as materials/crafting and how/where to get specific stuff. The game rewards you for spending your in-game time efficiently, and kinda punishes you for sitting in town doing nothing. Most negative reviews are probably for this reason, "not having enough time to do anything". Personally after playing 8 games, I feel like this game actually does give you enough time to do stuff, but figuring out how things work hinders your ability to spend it right on the first few runs.
i think its easier solo, ive only played to day 14 and played since the ps+ release this year but going into a game of randoms is unplayable. you really need a group of friends who know what they are doing.
i just say fuck gates untill day 5-6 and rush heisir sword III on day 1 before the first attack then i breeze through it and get quarry on day 2-3 then i jump pump all my resources into lumbermill / farm and make defense after. Surviving day 14-15 failed 3 times in a row though. i just keep running out of resources as the attacks.. NEVER END repairing my legendary weapons 4 times and the day end but the attacks doesn't + the 4th Jôtunn also attacks at the same time smh.. I don't even know how its possible to defend against it. i had 100 wrought iron/wood/cut stone ALL gates at lvl 2 all towers at lvl 3, and i still couldn't survive day 14+15 together i ran out of resources and the gates got flooded by the night creepers.
kill the first Jotunn and use Bifrost. Thats the spiky symbol (rainbow/pink) near your village. this will end your run and give you rewards (XP and golden horns based on how many Jotunn you killed). you gotta do it 10 times.
This is actually a bad guide if you know how to play the game. LOL @ building gates.....And small bones? No... Kill dragons day one at the pools for lightnight type weapons. Dragons can be killed with just ur fist their attack pattern is simplistic. Hit 2 times hold back go back in hit 3 times back up, rinse repeat.
Lol the witch is one of the easiest Jotunn, you should make a raider axe and the nornir axe instead of the swords.. quarry always first, always... it should be up around day 2 or 3 otherwise you'll be behind. And you should prioritise exploring the map, to find the bridge and all the sorceress instead of chomping around ur camp.
