Freddie's voice is a real mystery. They have already written their name in the history of music. Their music will be performed and mixed in a hundred years, just like Mozart and Beetoven. Freddie left his legacy to us. for joy.
Years ago I requested people react to this song - so glad to see it! Nothing better than Freddie at his piano. Imagine being in the audience having heard WHITE QUEEN or FLICK OF THE WRIST and then this! Not having heard it on an album or on the radio before. QUEEN and FREDDIE set a high bar for all those that follow.
Yes there is an album version. It is good. But nothing like the live in Hyde park version. This was raw an uncut. He never ever sang it again like this, with such vulnerability. It truly is a masterpiece and one of a kind.
Great reaction!! The piano part of this song is written in the Japanese pentatonic scale, not our European major scale. So, yes, Freddie shows here his incredible composer and musician skills. Imagine, the Hyde Park concert 1976 was a free open air show with 150.000 visitors, not only Queen fans. And Freddie was so brave to perform this mellow song with all these falsettos. He was a class of his own.
every girl and some of the guys are wishing he was singing this to them. It just makes you fall in love with him with all that passion in his voice. We miss you Freddie. RIP
He was a baddie ❤️🔥 his voice in itself is like a beautiful instrument a unique one and his piano skills we’re off the roof every time I listen to this song gives me goosebumps he sings that so well and mind you it is live that’s him singing right there no tweaking of his voice with any computerized hacks he is still the best the legend absolutely love him ‼️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Freddie at his best!! Oh, who am I kidding, Freddie was the best anytime anyplace!! One of my all time favorite performances, and the recorded version although different is equally incredible. I would love to suggest Queen, Save Me at the 1981 Montreal concert. I love that concert! Great reaction, thanks!
“You take my breath away” is one of my favorite songs.... simply magnificent performance... just Freddie and the piano..., with the complicity of the night... with a crowd listening in silence .., Freddie sings full of heart... full of emotions... what a voice..!!! Made me goosebumps... Thanks a lot for your reaction, when he’s singing... your face was astonished, like mine when I heard this version for the first time. Studio version have more harmonies... and it’s absolutely beautiful too... but this version with just the piano, it’s amazing!!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰
I also prefer this version. It is so "simple" and pure, Freddie is pouring out his broken heart to us, all his love, all his feelings, even his posture shows his feelings. You just want to go and jug Freddie and tell him everything will be ok. The studio version is also beautiful.with wonderful harmonies, but loses the intimate feel of the live one.
Diane Fowler ... oh yes dear Diana 🥰🥰... you can put in words my feeling..,! Sometime I don’t find the rights words... I’m always learning... and now I have a new and unique word : pouring out. And you’re right again... the intimacy of the live version is not the same in studio version. And it’s a contradiction, if you think about, because this intimacy was achieved in the middle of a silent crowd..!!! Freddie was unique.!! 🥰🥰 Big hugs and kisses to you dear Diana, from Chile 🇨🇱
White Queen at Hammersmith tends to have copyright problems. It's wonderful and fascinating, but the reactor has to interrupt to avoid restrictions from youtube.
@@flyingcloud6776 If he uses the video from Queen's Official channel, he shouldn't have problems; I've watched many MANY of TH-cam reactors' videos for this one. : )
This song gives me chills, it's still got rock influence, but the main verse-man his voice just transforms into full on Disney prince. Such an underrated song.
Have you ever heard anything so haunting? The emotion he could wring out of the piano paired with his magic voice was insane! Loved watching your face as the music affected you. It almost brings me to tears when I see someone introduced to a Queen song for the first time. There's a special elation I experience when I see their musical creations touch a new convert. It cements the truth that Queen and of course, Freddie WILL live forever.
The Live version gives me goosebumps... Because it's pure and full of Freddie's emotions... He sings it so passionately beautiful, like he really misses his beau that moment and cries out for him!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Yes, there is an album version, and it is very pretty, with wonderful harmonies and more instrumentation, but this live version is far more beautiful in its exquisite simplicity!
The very essence of pure emotion and pure beauty. Incredible indeed, Now listen to the studio version and what they did to it. Master songwriters and musicians
The master at work...and this is how you control over 160,000 people and leave them speechless, if I had to pick a favourite live performance, this is in my top two, the other one being White Queen live at the Odeon.
Awesome reaction. Genuine astonishment. And the feeling never goes away. This piano line haunts me.....extra-ordinary composition with relatively few notes but artfully chosen.
Yes, there is a studio recorded version of this with the Queen signature harmonies that will make your hair stand on end. It’s amazing, but for me, this live version with its simplicity is so beautiful. Just Freddie and his piano, he didn’t need all the bells and whistles, pyrotechnics and special effects that a lot of artists use these days. Just sublime talent. I am really enjoying your reactions, and because you give some intelligent analysis at the end, I’ve subscribed, nice to join you. Can I make a couple of suggestions? Everything at Wembley was amazing, but my favourite is Now I’m Here, and if you haven’t already done it, Love of my Life. Prepare to be amazed
You want to hear Freddie's composition skills, the studio version is loaded with harmonies and they are all Freddie's voice done on multiple tracks, mind blowing
Listen to the version on the record and compare. The genius behind Queen is their ability to improvise. They were ALWAYS voted the #1 live band. They steal the show .
Freddie was great on the piano though he felt that he was only adequate and later opted to not play piano and hire someone to do that so he could just sing and be the frontman. If you want to hear Freddie's piano skills, react to White Queen live at Odeon, Hammersmith. He and Brian do an instrumental chase for over a minute that is just outstanding. There is an album version of this song which is more Queen-esque with incredible harmonies though this live version still is my favorite verson of this song.
You should give the studio version a listen. VERY different...and ALL Freddie. The piano winds up being much more complex on the studio version, but oh so exquisite.
There is an album version and it is also amazing. I prefer the live version because it just feels so intimate and ethereal. The album track is much more polished...the harmonies are fantastic!
I was there! And they were amazing, I don't remember any of the other acts apart from Kiki Dee performing 'Don't Go Breaking My Heart' her collab with Elton John, but I was only there for Queen and Freddy Mercury, I was lucky enough to see them a few times and they always delivered. And this is one of my favourites, thanks for watching :)
Great reaction. I've enjoyed all your reaction. In 1976 Queen decided to give a free concert in Hyde Park to show appreciation for their fans. ~150,000 people were in attendance. It was a rowdy crowd as you can tell from the initial noise which grew silent in awe. Freddie had just recently written this song and if you look closely you will see two sides of Freddie that are normally not on display. His vulnerable side in presenting his newly written 'baby' to a group of people who might or might not like it. And, once he fell into the song, you will get glimpses of the soul of the man that was Freddie that he rarely exposed to the world. I am so glad you loved it. Thank you!! This is a beautiful beautiful song and the record is good but the live version is outstanding and out of this world!!! Queen gave two or three free concerts in London & I know of at least 2 in Hyde Park. Wow! This was back before they were really making money after leaving Trident production group and joining forces with John Reed for 2 years. From 1977 on Queen manage all of their business and Jim Beach was their so-called manager, but mostly attorney. John Deacon was the business brains of the bunch and he handled all of the financial Monetary Part. John is the bass player and was the youngest and last member to join the group in 1971.
