MONTAGUE ISLAND SEALS: The Ultimate SCUBA and SNORKEL Destination

Over the June long weekend, I joined the UNSW Underwater club on a scuba diving adventure to Montague island; home to one of Australia's largest fur seal colonies. The island is accessed from the boat ramp in Narooma. The seals are very curious and interactive to dive with. It is well known that the seals become more interested in you when you do not have scuba gear on so we also tried some snorkeling to see the difference in behaviour. I personally did not notice much change. The seals seemed to be very energetic and interested by us regardless of how we immersed ourselves in their world.
