WOW. Can we talk about the cinematography? SO GOOD. The angles, the filter, the perfect mix of footage - animal, scenery, them. And how are adorable are they walking everywhere holding hands? Well done. Thanks for the video.
Whenever I go to other states in Australia with bigger cities and towns, I'm always reminded of why I love living in Adelaide. However, from time to time you become numb to the magic it has to offer as you sync into your everyday life. I've lived in Adelaide for almost 16 years now, and watching this video definitely breathes fresh air into how grateful I am to live here. From the perspective of someone who is foreign to Adelaide, truly reignites that magic. Amazing cinematorgraphy, amazing soundtrack that immerses us viewers into the moments and love the genuine love of trying something new.
Adelaide/South Australia might be a little more toned down and not as flashy as Sydney or Melbourne, but there's still more I've not covered and I'll be back to do what I set out to do!
Bro you missed out on sooooo many beaches within 20 minutes of each other, look up Maslin, sellicks, Myponga, Vuctor Harbour etc next time you are here! Add Cleland wildlife park if you actually want to touch and feed kangaroos and koalas and other animals, Mount lofty summit for views of Adelaide/trekking, Hahndorf (German village) And if you have a couple of extra days check out mount gambier!
Please let me know when you come back. I'm happy to play tour guide and show you some absolutely amazing places. I can take you somewhere so you can hold a koala 😊 I love being a tour guide for new visitors.
I live in Adelaide now ... cities I have lived for extended periods include Vancouver, BC, Melbourne and HEAPS in between , even near Houston Tx, and have always been happy, even loved them, but it is Adelaide's low-key, dependable high quality living that I love best. The scenery away from Adelaide is magnificent, but does involve longer distance travelling. Thank you for your enthusiastic, joyful response. Am so sorry Kangaroo Island let you down ... again ... a family place for me. Try Port LIncoln and sharks underwater next time. :) j
I live in Adelaide and I thought you did a great job encapsulating the feel of the city and the countryside. Everything looks different in summer, and I think although not as busy winter/spring is a nice time to come here.
Close to adelaide city, drive 30mins to Glenelg (coastal suburb), do one of the Temptation Sailing dolphin cruises, and you’ll see heaps of dolphins. Three marine biologists to spot the pods, they then stop the catamaran, and guide you thru what you’re watching, answer questions. The tours are only run during the months of the better weather, and at best times for seeing dolphins (early morning). Best three hours, loved it. Then walk to the Orange Spot Bakery on Anzac Highway for lunch. There are also “swimming with sealife” experiences, out of Port Lincoln, on Eyre Peninsula. There are things to do at the d’arenburg cube, that don’t involve wine eg art, food. So many lovely beaches along the coast (your drive from Cape Jarvis back to adelaide). I suspect the reason enclosed buses are used at Monarto Zoo, is because in the height of summer, eg when it’s in the 40’s (Celsius), visitors would be glad of the Airconditioning inside the bus. We did the Meer Kat experience there, totally recommend, cuteness. Love your content and how you edit. Really enjoyed your travel blog. Esp the seal Lions!
From an Adelaidean, thank you for visiting our corner of the world and sharing your experience through such an immersive and cinematic video. In awe of your skills and the craft you've developed. You picked some great spots to visit, and not to mention the food adventures too - the blue crab pasta at Fugazzi is a personal favourite, and as a fellow oyster lover, seeing you enjoy Coffin Bay oysters was as absolute joy. Love both your personalities and how you complement one another. Can't wait for you to visit us again and discover more South Australian gems!
I'm glad you enjoyed our neck of the woods. First came here 20 years ago from S'pore, fell in love with the place and been here since. :) So much to take in that we tend to get caught up in our day to day and take it so for granted. e.g. catching the aurora on the mountain top recently. Love your video!
From Adelaide. Great video, excellent editing and cinematography. You and your wife are very likeable people. Thanks for showcasing our beautiful city.
I've lived in the Adelaide suburbs my whole life and haven't experienced over half the things you have in this video! Very grateful to live in such a warm city. I've been to Sydney and Melbourne and they're just not the same in their charm.
I have been fortunate enough to travelled to quite a few places, in both hemispheres, yet one of my favourite holiday destinations is still Kangaroo Island. As a South Australian I’ve visited K.I. 15-20 times over the past 30+ years and highly recommend it - for the stunning scenery, wonderful wildlife, talented artists and artisans, delectable food and wine, friendly locals and peaceful surroundings.
As a man born and bred in Adelaide, please allow me to say sorry about the costs. 😞 Things in Australia are getting unfairly expensive... but I hope the food, the views, the clean air, the people and the beaches... and the hills... (yeah, all that) ... made it worth it! 🙂
i've lived in SA my whole life, i love seeing people come here, i normally see videos of people going to Victoria or New South Wales, Queensland, etc, i never see many of NT, WA and SA
i'm from adelaide and this video is beautiful!! you showcased South Australia so well with your cinematography and storytelling. amazing work, hope you get to finally scuba dive with seals and dolphins the next time you're around :)
I'm heading over to Adelaide for work and after watching your video; maybe i'll do some touristy things too! Love your sense of humour and cadence! (Auspicious, Purple botanic garden and steroid zoo??) Still cracking over those! God bless you both!
Discovered you for the first time! We live on the Fleurieu Peninsula not too far from McLaren Vale. Singapore is one of my husbands and i favourite countries and we love supporting Singaporians!! So heartbroken for you when your seal encounter was cancelled. I hope you can come back. Adelaide and the Peninsula has so so so much to offer. Look forward to watching more from you and your beautiful wife. Nicole x
If you want authentic cuisine, nature and chill vibes - it’s a standout! Not to mention the amazing architecture and wine. Adelaide = a perfect blend of Europe and Oz. Unlike any other city ❤
A great stay of my home state. I am very surprised i didn't see a trip with you going to the whispering wall also on your stay over here, none the less looks like you picked a good time to come and visit and have been able to enjoy SA for what its good for.
Great to see you had an enjoyable holiday in Adelaide. It is always illuminating to see how other people look at us. Thank you and come again ! Are you game enough to " tackle " Sydney?
Wonderful video. So sorry about the sea lions. If you ever go back to South Australia, go to Port Lincoln and swim with the sea lions there in the summer time. One of the best things I have ever done. There is also a beautiful national park to visit and Coffin Bay where there is an oyster farm you would love.
great video, and glad you enjoyed the island i call home so much! dissapointing about the dolphins but hey - brightside, you get to come again! and maybe next time you can work it for whale season and hopefully spot a few of them while they swing past KI :D
So glad you had a wonderful in my home state, and now home city. KI (Kangaroo Island) is a world treasure in my book, you did a fantastic job sharing your experiences. ❤❤
Hey Shawn, just wanna say it again- me and my partner have always enjoyed your videos, always so cinematic and enjoyable to watch! Hope you enjoyed your trip. Oz oz oz oi oi oi! 😊
As someone who lives only 15 minutes from the best oysters in the world and mates with a buisness owner in the industry i can say that i am very privileged.
Yes I live in Adelaide, and love it here, but there is something most people forget or ignore. We are lucky that there are really no dud cities in Australia. Not when compared to what I've seen in other parts of the world. From temperate Hobart to the tropical places like Cairns and Darwin, and all the variations in between, all are great places to live and enjoy life.
Glad you enjoyed our little town! We say the best thing you can do with Adelaide is not tell anyone about it, or everyone will come. Haha. Great video you guys, thoroughly enjoyed it. Cheers.
Australian forests always ‘recover’ quickly from fires. Many eucalypts actively encourage burning. What was unprecedented about these fires was that it was EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE; the ‘recovery’ isn’t particularly remarkable. The trees have come back, but a lot of animals died because they couldn’t run to somewhere else. About a 3rd of the total wild koala population in Australia was wiped out, for example. There’s been no recovery in that sense…
I’ve visited the other cities like Sydney, Melbourne, Perth but I found Adelaide has the best local Australian food. I remember especially a random breakfast place at Gleneg, and every thing was so good.
This video just got recommended to me by the algorithm. I live in Adelaide, and your depiction of the city is absolutely spot on, so thank you for such an excellent video! (P.s. That accent at Monarto Zoo sounds more South African than Aussie 🤣)
my partner and I stayed at this same Airbnb when we went to KI a while back, how funny! One of the owners actually works at Seal Bay, we went to Seal Bay before we arrived at the Airbnb, then when we met them we realised we had met before! Small world (small island!). Such a great spot and the owners are so lovely.
Woww what a small world! Didn’t get to meet the owners unfortunately as they were away, but they were really helpful and I could feel the genuine energy around the neighbourhood
what a great review of South Australia and Kangaroo Island. Its been over 30 years since ive been to S.A. and Ive never been to Kangaroo Island. Besides the outrageous costs on the island, and that ferry cost.. OMG it certainly has come back after those terrible fires. Saying that.. you can take a car on a ferry from Sorrento to gorgeous Queenscliffe for only $79 or just $34 return per adult. Ive subscribed, so I hope your going to go on more road trips or visit places
Of all the travel blogs about SA on youtube, yours is the best. Well done. (By the way, if I was diving with the seals, I would keep an extra eye out for that large fish called a shark!)
OMGthe seals! THey're adorABle! Their fluffy and cute face does want to make you snuggle with them! ALso your whole video is amazing, the video editing and music, the quality, the animals and scenes you captured (those dolphins!)... Just wow! And yeah nature huh? Amazing
As a local South Australian, we like to keep it that way. We have our secrets that we tell no one because we are the best state in Australia. If we tell people our secrets, it will spoil it for us locals. We want it that way..Would you share with strangers ....NO!!!
Hey, very nice video inspired us with my partner a-lot an we are heading there in this month, could you tell me the renting company name if you remembe ? thank you
Bairds bay near streaky bay is another spot where you can swim with the seals and dolphins, did it with my 10 year old son, a memory for life. if your up that way check out the back room in the petrol station in streaky bay it has a life sized model of the largest white pointer hanging from the ceiling.
I’ve lived in Adelaide for a few years, and yeah.. I still haven’t been to Kangaroo Island. Couldn’t justify the expense for the ferry. But your video has kinda given me a kick to reconsider :)
Just subscribed because I love your videos! Can I ask what month you went to Germany? We are going mid October and can’t wait, definitely hitting the Black Forest🥰
Newby to your channel. That was a fun and fresh travel video, and the dolphin footage at the end - chef’s kiss! Come back to swim with the Great White Sharks next time! And check out Flinders Ranges too. (I shouldn’t try to sell South Australia, I might get kicked out of Victoria) 👍
Everything in this vid is pretty standard to Aussies. Those prices for the restaurant for pasta are a bit "exie", but then again, ultra fancy place/celeb chef/been on tv etc etc. Normal Aussie restaurant at the moment is 30 to 45 mains, 20 to 35 for pasta mains etc etc. Most people here might go to a place like that "because they saw it on tv"; then go back to the places they normally go............... The ferry to KI. Ferries are expensive, most people will fly somewhere, hire a car there. I have been to Tassie (from Melb) a few times on the ferry, it was cheaper to hire a car when you got there. Even cheaper to fly and then hire a car. I am in Perth, and used to go to Rottnest island all the time when I was a kid, but haven't been there for 20 years, as the ferry is so expensive. "Kangaroo Island is HUGE!!!" - everything is relative. We look at Australia, and no, by comparison, not very big. Being from Perth, but worked all over Oz, I have driven Perth to Melb or Sydney return a dozen times, and you drive all day and STILL not outside of Western Australia, so distances in Australia are vast. Kangaroos are good and bad. As above, I have driven across Oz a dozen times, never hit a roo. 6 months ago, a 60 kg roo came out of nowhere 1 km from my outer suburb house, I hit it at 80 kmh, wrote off my car. None in the city (obviously) but can get them in suburbs that are next to bushland. Chinese friends of mine went to KI, loved it. It really sucked that they cancelled the seal swim. I have done that here at Seal island, you used to be able to do it here, but don't know about now. Here it isn't organised, you just go there (or used to). You aren't allowed on or within so far of the island, (sanctuary), but you are (or were then) allowed to stop a certain distance away, and when I went there, some seals came out and swam around us. Great to see people experiencing what we "just call home". Things are relatively expensive here, because we have a high standard of living/high wages. Cheers. 🙂
if you ever come back to Adelaide hit us up and we can take you to some awesome animal parks where you can get up close and personal with all kinds of native fauna
Im an Adelaidian. I agree with the others, best travel video I’ve seen. Editing, footage and vibe. Nailed it.

Not as flashy as Melbourne? Melbourne is an old pile of junk lmao. Adelaide & surrounds is one of the nicest locations in Australia.
As an alternative, you can also swim with dolphins at Port Adelaide.

Kangaroo island needs to be on the national highway network. That way the ferry will be subsidised, just the Spirit of Tasmania.

😂👍🏻 looking forward to be back!
Cheers. 🙂

Nice Video 🤩. What is the name of the institution that provides swimming services with dolphins there? I want to go to that island next month.
You can check out either Kangaroo island marine adventures or Ocean Safari
It is a city that has had an abundance of migration from England. Come if you must, but be prepared for the experience!
