- This is Silver Surfer who seems to have absorbed the power of the Fallen One, with the annihilation horde behind him and Mjolnir in hand vs King Thanos, 616 Thanos, Frank Castle Ghost Rider and a traumatized savage Hulk. I never thought I'd ever put all those words in the same sentence. Truly some Thanos fan fiction, but enjoyable nonetheless!!! I hope you like it guys! :)

king thanos was more powerful then surfer here, he brought young thanos from the past not to help him as he revealed at the end it was so that he could die at the hands of himself.

@@FatherFoxtrot actually surfer at base loses to thanos at base thanos beat the living hell out of him before, and thanos has stopped mjolnir in his tracks before. Also during the infinity gauntlet storyline thanos used one stone at a time and only used it power to a minimum to show of his own strength and power as well. So when the surfer went at full speed at thanos it was base form thanos wasn’t using the gauntlet at that time. So thanos wasn’t scared here. like I said it was a lie so that young thanos would stick around and the truth was told to us after this it was so that young thanos would kill old thanos to complete king thanos’s goal.
So much for Cosmic Awareness. The Surfer is not supposed to be able to be sneak attacked like that. He has Spider Sense on a universal scale.
I agree with you, but when it comes to other cosmic or Divine beings, Cosmic awareness isn’t all that. Not that anyone in this fight was a Divine being but you get what I’m saying.
Having cosmic awareness doesn't always mean they are NOT hittable. PLus that's Thanos with a million of years of experience in kicking ass. SS has always been Thanos' bitch
To be fair Thanos has tanked point-blank face-shots of cosmic power from the Surfer and been un-phased by it. The Surfer can casually destroy solar systems and can destroy a Galaxy if he wanted to go absolutely all-out. The power levels are kinda inconsistent throughout the time line though.
The problem is Thanos power levels are inconsistent as well as the Silver Surfers. Galactus supposed to have built the surfer to be unrivaled. what exactly Thanos powers that he's able to go toe-to-toe with Surfer. In fact he should be able to demolish Surfer since he was supposed to have fought to a standstill or beat Galactus
The Gamma Radiation emanating from Hulk had something to do with that.
So they low-ball surfer to make Thanos look powerful? Got it.
Edit: I'm not even a surfer fan, so I'm not being defensive. The writers really gave thanos an inexplicable power boost that is outside of his power levels.

No point in fans arguing back and forth about how "this portrayal is wrong", as these are fictional characters who's abilities change with the convenience of the story and what the author is trying to tell. There are no hard rules to Marvel canon. Everything is subject to retcon at the whims of new writers and editors.
If they ever were consistent they haven't been in a very long time. They are filled with overused tropes, and rampant power creep and power seep, and the ignoring of powers or resistances, both for Heroes and villains alike. This isn't new. The inconsistencies generally come when a hero has their power inflated to ridiculous degrees slowly over time.
They become immune to more things. In the case of the Hulk, over time, his base level of strength in a relatively calm state has gotten more and more inflated. His rate of strength and unlimited anger increase gotten so fast to the point where he can't have a good fight with any villain ever logically. He cannot even get killed as Banner or he'll instantly Hulk out, as you pointed out.
In the past his strength had to build slow enough for him to get a good fight out of iconic powerhouse villains, and there was a risk Hulk could get KO'd before he had the chance to exceed their power. These days, he's now powered by God himself. I mean, where do you go from there?
Now, to be fair to Hulk, he is not at all the only hero to get power inflation, Thor, Superman, Uberbat and so on. Eventually writers themselves cannot even keep up with the inflation, or they literally cannot ever put the hero in a situation where they are at risk, and it's next to impossible to write a villain as an overwhelming odd. The result? The writers stop giving a shit and just writes the Hero as vulnerable to something to sell the villain as a badass threat. Otherwise their only option is to come up with a generic new threat, but those generally don't land well with readers. People like to see classic and iconic villains like Thanos being badasses, not "Ultranxtius the ominverse curb stomper" who just appeared practically out of nowhere, only to ultimately lose anyway because that is the ultimate job of villains, to job. If the writer intends to use an iconic villain, then they need to give them the advantage somehow, otherwise there are no stakes for the hero.
This was supposed to be an ultra-experienced Silver Surfer with Thor powers and they wrote him fighting like he was Firelord losing to Spider-Man
Spiderman is the most underrated hero of the Marvel universe. He lost often with new heroes because since he's the most famous character in Marvel, he (his comics) has to lost to present this new heroes like the strongest and powerful. I hate this part of Marvel.

Look....This is the epitome of bad writing. they took a bunch of flashy characters, flashy concepts, and cliches, and hoped with everything in there it would pull itself together. An alternative timeline Thanos teaming up with regular Thanos, a Frank Castle Ghost Rider, a brief showing of the Hulk, and then finally a surprise attack killing an amped SS with the power of the Fallen One and Mjolnir.... Awful.

The only reason King Thanos brought past Thanos into his future is because he needed the past Thanos to kill him in order to be with death. Since he has such a big ego he did not want anyone else to kill him in a fight but him. But he was not even trying to win and allowed past Thanos to kill him. And about the whole silver surfer thing, if King Thanos could kill the celestials, decapitate galactus, and kill the living tribunal, what the hell is silver surfer supposed to do in the first place. What did Surfer do to become worthy?
At one point, one of the panels says that it's the very last thing in all of existence. Is this true? All of the entire multiverse?
How come Surfer was able to defeat these guys no prob with Mjolnir, but Thor himself was a piss ant by comparison when he was wielding it?
Lastly, where is The One Above All in this? Is he just sitting back watching everything he ever created be wiped out?

Gonna leave this here, just in case some people see it. In this comic, King Thanos received, like, an astronomical power boost. It's quite made clear in the story that he's far more powerful than present Thanos. I'd say it's why he managed to hold on and to kill the Fallen One Surfer.

A sneak attack on the Surfer? Okay then.
He can hear and feel the heartbeats of every life-form around him in over a lightyear. The Surfer has said this himself. Almost nobody should be able to sneak attack him. Just inconsistent writing I guess. I suppose writers have not read every other instance of a character appearing in comic books prior to writing a new story. Marvel and DC should both write up DO and DO NOT lists for the characters which list what they have accomplished, their capabilities and a brief history of them so writers creating new stories don't screw up.

The others have done well enough bagging on the in-story shortcomings. My issues are with mechanics.
When there's a lot of text, you really ought to provide sufficient time to *read* it all before transitioning to the next page. Also, about 30% of the text boxes are so small, the text is unreadable. (So sorry, I left my electron microscope in my other pants.)
Finally, dead air for the last several panels? One would imagine you'd have stuck in something vaguely...funereal, just to close it all out and drive home the point.
They made surfer this ridiculous unstoppable being capable of tanking Hulk punches and then had him punched to death. This should've been a wash for surfer
Cosmic Ghost Rider really shouldn't of even been close to being killed since Mjolnir has been time more over been shown to not be a heaven weapon when used against most ghost riders, and also since it's pretty much implied he is almost always holding back and never releasing his true power
How fortunate that the Ghost Rider "bad guys get el-zappo'd" power doesn't work on 2 copies of the universe's biggest murderous asshole.

I love these comics not because of who is more powerful, but because of the journey.. I love the journey to return to lady death, for love, that's the story, and even if he is a villain, he sure got what he was waiting for
You know what wouldve been better writing?
Norrin lands a lethal blow on the younger thanos By smacking half of his face off. Leaving a long enough opening for the old thanos to thrust his sword through silver surfers back. While young thanos dies he witnesses his older self with death. King thanos walks toward death to marry her weeping and while older thanos kisses her to consumate the marriage. Banner walks to norrins dead body and weeps and in a fit of rage picks up the hammer only to be found worthy. Hulk sets his gaze to the old titan glimmering and with more vigour than a young self, hulk starts to walk towards the titan saying under his breath "I'm no ones slave"................. Issue ends!
( the writers should not have hyped up norrin so much and thanos not have a bitter sweet ending. I know the comic is about thanos winning but dont punch yourself in the leg with norrin going out like a amateur.

Why can't you see Thanos is a bad guy that wins on every level there are bad guys with as much power as thanos but not as smart Thanos is smarter than any one in Marvel.

I thought that for a second. Like, he'd just Hulk out and Hulk, along with banner, would heal. But the sword Thanos is using Surtur's Twilight. It's destruction, basically. So think how Superman is weak against magic bc magic bends the rules of science(fiction) based character. So he's basically killed by the weapon that's wielded by the Fire Giant that brings about Ragnarok, the end of days. So it doesn't dismiss Hulk, just overrides that attribute of his character.
Actually, it's more like Silver Surfer Vs Thanos (x2).
Surfer can exist without a body size alteration soul manipulation etc. Now imagine all that with mjolnir and eons of training and experience

people who are don't believe that thanos wins this arent too bright. thanos killed galactics, who always scaled above his Harold, and was on par with odin. Thors hammer lost to odin, who tied the guy thanos one shot. add in the other thanos and ghost rider ( who also was embuied with the power cosmic) and its a stomp

Rider was a servant of Thanos and Hulk was his pet. Silver Surfer is the good guy even if he's employing some shady methods to try and stop Thanos.

Dren AaShuharu both of them were driven insane, Hulk ate most of his friends alive including captain America and ghost rider who is revealed later on to be frank castle claimed his insanity was caused by staying so many years with Thanos.
