Tsavorite is also found in Tanzania - in the Merelani Tanzanite mining area (lelatema antiform) as well as in gogogo Madagascar. It's a magnificent stone, and I completely agree that fine quality green Tsavorite Garent is very special indeed!! The beautiful stone that you are showing in this video is way too light in colour to be classified tsavorite though. comparing the clarity of a light 'tsavorite' like this would have to be compared to a lighter beryl such as aquamarine to be totally fair.

The great thing about tsavorite (and other garnets) is that they tend to not be treated at all. Now only a few weeks ago however, I got a message from someone who had given a tsavorite to a GIA-lab and they had stated that the colour had been enhanced...So, there can be treatments but they are really still very exceptional and virtually all are totally natural. (That stone I saw only a photo of did look a bit too good to be true, the colour didn't look natural to me and so that's always something to be aware of). If you go to a reputable dealer and ask the right questions, you should be fine though! The questions to ask: 1. "Is this stone natural as opposed to synthetic?" The answer should be 'natural'. 2. if they reply the stone is natural, you ask: "And has the stone been treated or undergone any enhancement?" The answer for a tsavorite should be 'the stone hasn't been treated or enhanced'. Lastly, if you intend to invest into a very nice stone, always ask for an international lab certificate, either GIA or SSEF for example. Good luck!
Nice stones. Garnets are my favorite stone and tsavorite is my favorite of the garnets. I have four that are that intense vivid green that rival emeralds. I have a few emeralds too but I would rather have my tsavorites in a ring than an emerald.

Agree that the bluish green of some emeralds is a warm, stunning hue! They are warmer than the slightly harder, diamond-feel of a sparkling tsavorite. Depends on what you like (or your mood ;)).

Hello Brian and thanks for your comment. I respectfully disagree; emeralds tend to be heavily included (most therefore have far less brilliance than tsavorites) and treated. Top quality emeralds can be absolutely beautiful though.
