For me Opeth Should've stop at Watershed I don't even hate new Opeth but I think their OK albums at best for me i liked the new album but it doesn't reach the same highs along aside with Blackwater Park, Deliverance, Still Life Damnation, Ghost Reverise and My Arms Your Hearse like I never thought it would be AOTY for me because it's continuing that something that what I don't love about new Opeth in my opinion.
New album is is a multi layered Masterpiece. It's eery, atmospheric and in equal parts beautiful. It fits the story perfectly and it really does reward repeated listens, getting better every time. Dare I say it, but there's even a Mr Bungle vibe to some of the tracks and vocals, which is a compliment.Definately my AOTY.
Pale Communion is one of the best flowing Opeth albums, period. Marrow of the Earth is one of the most beautiful and introspective tunes ever. Allting Tar Slut is the best doom song ever. Love seeing My Arms and Deliverance so high - both are absolute monsters. Also, the remixed and remastered Sorcerees is coming out anytime (according to Fredrik). Stefan Boman remixed it and it's supposed to be amazing and it sounds "killer" according to Fredrik.
For me: 1. Still Life 10/10 2. Ghost Reveries 10/10 3. Deliverance 10/10 4. Blackwater Park 9/10 5. The Last Will and Testament 8,5/10 6. Watershed 8/10 7. Damnation 8/10 8. Pale Communion 7,5/10 9. Morningrise 7,5/10 10. My Arms, Your Hearse 7,5/10 11. In Cauda Venenum 7/10 12. Sorceress 7/10 13. Orchid 7/10 14. Heritage 6/10
Opeth was my favourite band for YEARS, no question about it. I tried so hard to get into Heritage but I hated it, and not a fan of any of the albums after Watershed. So I'd half written them off. Then the new album came out and has blown me away. It's like having a best friend back after fifteen years. I'm currently listening through the discography again, could I rank them- no chance.
Man I love Damnation too, Im so happy to see someone put this in S tier. I absolutely disagree about Pale Communion, I think its an amazing album. So many great songs on there to my ears. I agree about Sorceress, its their worst for sure. It has very dull production and aside from title track, its very meh.

They're about equal when in the same tier. The Last Will and Testament has grown on me a lot as well. The 9/10 albums are anything between 9-9.5. They are close to 10, but they have one or two songs that I would rate 7-8 (in terms of enjoyment), which brings them to 9/10, though they probably are 10/10 in general terms. I have the 10/10 albums and Damnation on vinyl. Probably getting the other 9/10 albums soon, but Deliverance is rare and expensive for now. One day, I'll probably have all of their albums on vinyl, but there's many other albums that I want as well.
In cauda is the truest opeth album of the prog and jus amazing. I haven't watched this at all yet, jus wanted to say that. Because that album fly by people that didn't listen to it enough to know it. It's too tier opeth, which is why he moved in, he perfected the prog era with it. It's epic n dark
My very simple tier list: S) Blackwater Park A) Still Life through Ghost Reveries B) Everything else. If I had to pick a least favorite it would be Watershed as it just felt phoned in. "I'm bored making death metal but not yet ready to commit to Prog Rock" and just such a quality drop following Ghost Reveries.
The weirdest thing I think Mikael ever said was "We didn't master Sorceress because i can't understand what mastering is" Of course he knows what was he on about haha, It ended up sounding very muddy an worbly at times right?
@@araso9859 I know! I recall Mikael saying that re: mastering and I think he was taking the piss. Fredrik spilled the beans in an interview recently. I'm super excited, I love that album but always hated the production, especially the drum tone.

How dare you not think my favorite Opeth album is not your favorite Opeth album?? Seriously, aren't you glad music is always subjective and never objective?
Top 3: My Arms, Your Hearse, Deliverance and Watershed. Bottom 3: Heritage, Sorceress, Ghost Reveries (yes! pretentious drivel). The new one is smack in the middle of it all. Average for Opeth, but a 3.5/5 so still pretty good.
Opeth fan since forever, 1997 I guess, but I still don't like My Arms, Your Hearse. Never did, never will, I'm afraid. For me it's the weakest of the metal albums
My Version Perfection: Damnation, Pale Communion, In Cauda Venenum Fantastic: MAYH, Watershed, Blackwater Park, The Last Will And Testament Good: Ghost Reveries, Sorceress Okay: Deliverance, Heritage Meh: Still Life, Morningrise, Orchid
My dudeman Questy will rank Opeth another 5 times in the next 10-15 years 😂
You’re god damn right 🫵
Definitely agree with the tier list at the end

Opeth posting ⁉️ lesssssgoooo
Anyone else notice how Mikael has dropped a fair few celtic frost "HEEEEYY!"'s in the new album?🤔 UUGGHHHH HEEEY!!!💪
It reminds me of clash royal for some reason 😅
@@opticstar2012 reminds me of Subway Surfers and i haven't played it since 5 years😭
I wish i knew what the above references are about but haven't a clue😂

I was at that show, one of the best shows I have been to.

All albums are A tier for me
My very simple tier list:
S) Blackwater Park
A) Still Life through Ghost Reveries
B) Everything else.
If I had to pick a least favorite it would be Watershed as it just felt phoned in. "I'm bored making death metal but not yet ready to commit to Prog Rock" and just such a quality drop following Ghost Reveries.
Terrible opinion. Watershed > Blackwater Park
Second! Always wanted to write that 😂
This is one ranking I’ve never attempted. Honestly, your joke of putting everything in S Tier is probably close by my actual opinion.
LOL plot twiast they all S tier love it!
What band would you recommend for me? My top favs are 1. Tool 2. Meshuggah 3. Gojira
My Varg Metal man do you like Within Temptation ?
My hot take: their early stuff is death-doom. Fight me 😂

Blackwater Park is S+, above them all....
Still Life and Ghost Reveries >>>>>>>>
Best band ever. And Cardiacs.
I don't like the new one. There isn't one memorable moment on it. In Cauda was FULL of them. I'm disappointed honestly.
All albums S tier, except for sorceress for me too actually.
Do you like the side project of Mikael Akerfeldt and Steve Wilson called Storm Corrosion? 2012 album
Loved it
You scored heritage too high.
Ghost Reveries at the bottom?? Bloody hell. This is thee most single worst Opeth opinion I've ever heard.
Questy, one day we will be together: My Arms, Your Arse! 😂
Still life is so insanely overrated imo
Opeth fan since forever, 1997 I guess, but I still don't like My Arms, Your Hearse. Never did, never will, I'm afraid. For me it's the weakest of the metal albums
Damn I think it's an amazing album 😲
It’s okay, we’re all wrong from time to time
Very interesting. I’ve always thought it has a really beautiful mood to it that drags you in but to each their own
I didnt like it before because of the production but I powered through that and I like it very much now, I play it front to back regularly
@ have you heard the abbey road remaster? The new mixes of orchid and morning rise are also way better than the originals imo. Can’t go back now
My Version
Perfection: Damnation, Pale Communion, In Cauda Venenum
Fantastic: MAYH, Watershed, Blackwater Park, The Last Will And Testament
Good: Ghost Reveries, Sorceress
Okay: Deliverance, Heritage
Meh: Still Life, Morningrise, Orchid
If you had still life higher i would agree 100%. Love your spicy takes!
@zschokks5583 "Still Life" just doesn't click for me. But it is better than the first two albums anyway.
