    Thanks for reviewing about the USB C connector, as that has been the biggest question for me with looking into a smartphone controller and how it works with case or outside. Not many reviewers bring this up.

    Having to take your phone out of the case seems like such a small thing, but it's honestly the reason I don't use most of these grips

      For me it's the act of taking the case off. If these had some way to extended the Type-C port outward or something so I could use my case, I would totally be fine with using one.

    Your can use the X2 Pro with a thin case. I use my Gamesir X2 Pro with a case on my Zenfone 5z without issue. Once the phone is properly installed, I just have to squeeze the sides of the controller in a bit to get a good connection.

  • @campbellwinslow6986

    I imagine it voids the warranty, but I have a gamesir x2 and I just removed the rubber on the side with the usbc male connector. Simply peeled it off. This made it work with or without even a thick case, (and I have a huge phone, the z-fold3). I was worried it’d be less secure but it actually fits way better.
    I will say, I have the non Xbox version and I’m jelly of the analog triggers. (Mine is upgraded with a full dpad, but still has clicky triggers) BUT mine has the USB is on the other side which is better for my phone. So they all seem to have pros/cons

    UPDATE: There is a new firmware update that popped up in my Gamesir app just a couple of hours after posting this. The issue has been addressed: "Fixed RT button won't go back to 0 value after triggered." Great work, Gamesir!
    Original comment: There is a problem with this controller, or at least the one I received. When using the R2 trigger rapidly in quick succession, the controller considers it to be held down rather than pressed and quickly released. For example, if you play Street Fighter Alpha 3 on the PS1 and use a configuration where R2 is used for heavy kicks, it is nearly impossible to go straight from a flying kick to a sweep with Ken / Ryu. He just crouches after the flying kick and the sweep never comes unless you completely release the R2 button and give it a moment before pressing it again. I don't have this problem with any other controller, and I own a lot of controllers.
    Using Gamesir's 'Gamepad Testing' feature within the app, I can see that the R2 trigger has a tiny, miniscule deadzone before input is registered, whereas the L2 trigger has a significantly larger deadzone before input is triggered. This explains why I have to lift my finger completely off the R2 trigger before pressing it again for a second input to register, while the L2 trigger only requires me to lift my finger up most of the way before pressing down again to trigger an input.
    Of course, this can be fixed by re-binding input to L1 and R1 for games that suffer from the defect, but using the controller with the default layout can cause problems in certain games which use R2 as a trigger - especially where rapid input might be needed (firing multiple shots from a pistol in quick succession etc.)

    @1:10 - This is incorrect, it works on my Note 20 with the Samsung flip case, despite that case having enough of a lip to extend past and wrap a little around the bottom of the phone. The rubber pushes in far enough with a light squeeze to connect the USB firmly, and I haven't had a single disconnect since I've been trying it. I know it's a rare kind of case but saying any case "no matter how thin" won't fit is misleading.
    Also, no other wraparound controller I have tried (and I own the kishi) works with the case on, so singling out the GameSir when it's at least a little better than average isn't really fair. Fitting with any case would require a lot of extra space to allow for both the depth of the case, as well as an extendable USB-C jack, since if it was too long it wouldn't fit well on normal devices and could potentially damage the port on your phone by bottoming out and placing pressure against the port (which causes torsion on the solder joints on most ports). Edit: or do what the Gamevice Flex is doing and have multiple adapters, which effectively changes the depth of the jack.

  • @ACanadianDude

    This is why I like my older first generation Google Pixel XL. The included case has a cutout in the bottom for the speaker grill, but that also makes it fit with my GameSir X1 controller. Cases that only thinly cover the bottom corners but leave the USB-C exposed will still fit.

  • @tommy6742
    @tommy6742 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You need to cut off the rubber grips along the usb c side to be able to slide the usb c plug into the port of you phone, this is how I got the controller to plug into my S10E with a spigen phone case.

    I've been longing for something like an ayn odin. I'm also paranoid about my main phone battery being unable to power the phone when I need it. So, I bought the gamesir x2 pro with a used phone - an s10e with a thin case. It's on the smaller side, but fits in the GSX2P just fine. the s10e goes for about 110-150 used. It's not the most compact fusion, but it works great. I've never experienced high end adreno, and have been quite pleased.
    Concerning the case, this would stop me from using it on my main phone too. It does fit with thin silicone cases - but that's potentially hit or miss.
    So going forward, my upgrades would just be the phone used. Lets see if the GSX2P controller lasts though :D

    You comments about the fumbling around with taking the controller out of it's case as well as your own phone; are the reason why I have returned so many of these controllers and don't bother using my phone as a gaming device. At the asking price for these controllers; I just stick to a specified gaming device. I don't want to damage my phone or the controller out in the wild; to play a quick game. Luckily the gamevice flex seems to address this and may be the one I get.

    • @mikedonalds
      @mikedonalds 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I hear you. I even bought a dedicated phone that I could use with my Kishi, X2 or X2 Pro, and I still barely use it because the phone feels way too exposed when I leave it lying around face up while attached to the controller. I think two decades of being careful with phones is a really difficult habit to break out of. I end up going for my Retroid Pocket 3 instead.

  • @dabom88

    There are USB Extenders on Amazon that I found that look like they might fit over the USB C Port on the Gamesir. Maybe that could be tried out to see if the extenders would allow it to fit over the case?

    • @lucascarracedo7421
      @lucascarracedo7421 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah but then you'd have to extend the controller even more, which is already too wide with most phones. They need to address this issue at some point, every controller manufacturer has this problem. They could have a deeper phone grip with some stop you can adjust yourself while the usbc connector has a wider gap between itself and the back.

    I was thinking about this controller.
    Ended up getting the RAZER KUSHI 2.
    Good controller. has clicky buttons. very fast pressing.
    But doesn't want to work with cod mobile. Does this one work with cod mobile. That game is free.
    I see the gamesir app has overlays. is it hard to set up? I
    I tried the mantas pro method. Pain in the @## to set up via the beta computer less way. There is a android phone method but idk. Got both to run after fighting. i don't want to do it if it doesn't want to do it all the time. The computer hook up works as should. Only problem with mantas pro is if you restart the phone for any reason let's say it's starts lagging then you gotta connect everything again.
    panda pro gamepad app almost the same. Just less ways to get it working. But has a adapter that's hard to get. IDK maybe the adapter would be better if your never near a computer. Ill order one one day.
    There is a trick actually to get the kushi 2 to work with cod. Gotta connect a xbox controller via bluetooth then the gamesir works. Maybe it's look for a official controller. putting overlays works as well but your playing with touch screen players.

    How many other controllers of this type do have a long enough USB-C connector to be used with a case? As for things having too many moving parts in terms of having to remove a case from a phone (all of 2 seconds) then I think that this says more about the person than the controller. Yes it would be nice to be able to keep a case on but it is definitely a minor inconvenience. A for use of the raw*** word, that was excruciatingly embarrassing and cringeworthy. This is definitely the best Gamesir controller of this type, although I do think that it should have come earlier.

    So close, with the case thing. I removed the rubber bumper from my Kishi v1 and am able to actually fit my phone with the case no problem. I guess I'll be sticking with that a while longer. I know Gamevice released their Flex controller that intentionally allows for cases to fit. But, the D-pad looks to be the same shittyh one as with the Kishi v1...c'mon Gamesir, one more go!
