As much as I loved Ashe's soothing vocals, I'm glad Dan's back in the band. His calm vocals mixed with his aggressive screams make him a perfect fit in my opinion.
I couldn't agree more, Ashe was just too soft for me. To be totally blunt and honest too pussy for the type of band teaseract is. It was nice to hear 1 voice rather that 8 layers of high pitch harmonies.
@@RandomlnternetGuy My thoughts exactly (yeah, I know this is a super late response). Ashe isn't terrible but as I said in my Altered State review, "Where Dan's voice soars, it feels like Ashe tries to but just can't summon the power Dan can."

@@RandomlnternetGuy Haha that's a good way to put it! But yeah, Ashe, from a technical perspective, is good but he's definitely not my style. Altered State is the only TesseracT album I don't enjoy aside from one or two tracks and part of that has to do with his vocal style.
Altered State remains a fantastic and unique listening experience partially due to Ashe's presence. I would agree that the full range Dan brings to the table definitely suits Tesseract more though. Considering the chunky grooves and ethereal cleans, there needs to be a good mixture of vocal styles as well.
I see Elrond is a great bass player!

***** Dan Tompkins is back on vocals. He was the vocalist on the album "One". They just recently added him back in the line up.

I loved Ashe's contribution on "Altered State" it was a masterpiece. He was a fantastic vocalist but it's good to see Dan return as well,although I was used to Ashe's voice.

The mix sounds off because they only use the mix for the stage, there is no leveler before the audio feed goes to the video recorder so thats why it sounds whierd! :)

Just saw these guys last Friday on the Megadeth tour. Had never heard of them. My friend and I were blown away! I wish I could go back in time and see the show again.

Nice acquisition of the audience big screen feed ;-) REALLY need to see this band live this year.
Seen a few people talking about the fact that Dan's vocals were off at a couple of points, 1) He most likely hadn't sung the songs in 3 years and only had a few hours to rehearse them again 2) Performing outside at a festival is very different to performing inside, in my experience people rarely do as well outside as they do inside and 3) His vocals were barely off in maybe 2 places, cut the man some slack for crying out loud.
+Adhitthana It's also the last song of the set right? He's getting toward the end of where a singer's endurance can usually handle so no reason to overly criticize him.

DandelionVolta Same I think Dan's performance was fantastic, however a lot of people were bitching about his voice being off in one or two places.
I've played outside a few times, most don't realise how hard it is, despite all the cabs/monitors sometimes the sound drops out and you can't hear a thing and your relying on memory and what's in your head.
Dan just blew me away. Incredible individual talents in this band and even better as a group.

To be honest, I completely went off this band with the previous vocalist. Just couldn't get into his voice and the contorting of tessaracts style.I am super glad Dan is back because it kind of signifies the return of the tesseract I like!

It always annoyed me that you could substitute damn near any good female vocalist onto Altered State and noone would tell the difference. It's like..damnit, Ashe, youre a man...at least try to pretend you actually are one. Ashe just tried to sound like Amy Lee on Altered State with those vocal patterns...lol
InvisibleTeeth I feel like it's worth noting that my sister thought it was Christina Aguilera when she heard me listening to Proxy once. That said, it's ridiculous to say that he shouldn't sound "girly" or should at least try to pretend he's not. Masculinity is fucking stupid at the best of times, but masculinity about vocals is just fucking pathetic.

I was in the crowd. They were definitely not dead despite the fact it was 11AM when this set started. Such an awesome set.

I may be alone in this, but I find the mix in this one of the best live mixes I've hear in awhile! I really dig how we're able to really hear the vocalist at the front. The other instruments seem to blend nicely with each other as well.

Fuck the crowd, if I were there I would be out of my mind, supposing I wasn't already passed out. I seriously can't get over Daniel's voice, it makes my heart beat twice faster everytime I hear him, but still, can not help thinking how I will never be able to sing so amazingly. Can't think of another vocalist so talented as him.
