The RTH beeping on stuff like this is said to be Uber reliable. Some guys fly blind way into the distance as long as it's not too windy and you engage RTH, it is 100% return back.

I have had wedge tail eagles lock their claws into my planes. Foam slope soarers. You will likely get hit by a juvenile bird. Magpie perhaps?
