  • YOU WILL NEED A DAGGER or knife type weapon to do this. Only knives, daggers and Rondels have he "Puncture" Ability used to bypass armour. Knives are cheaply available almost everywhere in early game.
Guide/Tips video for begginers to explain the mechanics around 'daggering down' or 'going all Julius Ceasar' on enemies for their armour.

Being a new player to BB vids like these are god sent. I knew about daggering for armor but i didn't understand how to make it work. I'm about day 20 and i fought an undead army on the road. 5 zombie soldiers and 2 geists. I equiped everyone with daggers and knives except for archers. The soldiers died without much problems but i lost the battle because the geists kept making my dudes run away. I reloaded the pre battle save file after 2 of my bros died from geist melee haha.

What I love is that if you have enough Melee Attack, Daggers are SUPER great at taking down High Armor Targets... since you skip that entire '2nd Health Pool' that Armor provides.
You either have to be high enough to still hit despite the Shield... or better yet have a Long Axe on your Back Line to 'remove' those shields kindly so you can Dagger Down.
For a good portion of the game, all I'm running is Daggers and Long Axes, with Back Up Weapons as needed for things like Undead. And it's PERFECTLY worth for me to Spec into Dagger, to get THREE uses of Puncture in a Round.

Yeah dagger specialization is awesome. The southern dagger variant, the Qatal is awesome too. It doesn't have puncture but you get extra damage on targets that are stunned etc. I like having a specialist "killer", others stun the targets and strip armour if needed then the Qatal bro executes them. Reminds me executioner can be good on a dagger bro, as you do lots of health damage and inflict injuries on first strike a lot.
Qatal bro Works really well when supported by tanky 2 Handed macemen (there's a good 2HD mace spec for low skill bros, that might work in with your team later. I think it is just spec melee attack, defence and health. Go heavy armour but disregard stam and just use their 15 stam regen per turn for a single 2HD mace hit.
I know a bit off your company concept but just throwing out some ideas if you are ever looking for variety.

@@MercytheMad A big thing with Daggers, since the Armor gets bypassed, is the creation of Wounds. Sure, it's random... but you get a Hand or Arm, or something that limits Fatigue (on non-undead) and it can really help you out.
With that in mind, I think I may start adding that Level 1 Perk that makes the amount of HP needed to inflict a Wound to be less, although I wouldn't lead with it at Level 1. Seems to be a good addition once I can survive and hit regularly.
I'm not a fan of the Qatal, because then I still have to go through the Armor. I mean for a 'Power Dagger' it's awesome, but I'd have to do the math to see if it's better than other things. And I still need a Mace to Stun someone for me. Still need Axes to remove Shields for me.
I was messing around with an All Flail Comp, try to focus Jugglers for extra Head Shot potential. Crush the Helmets but if you get lucky you can Head Kill with no Armor Damage, and disregard Shields.
Obviously the BEST is a variety of builds that work together, and that's also where the Quatal can really shine. But I like trying odd things out, and right now I'm torn between Daggers with some back line Long Ax support, and Flails all around.
I'll literally not have any ranged in a lot of this comps.

I was thinking talking about making specialist "killers" whose job it is to do the final blow (not stacking up injuries to debuff the enemies, but just get one injuriy to speed up killing them in the same turn) Whether you are Quataling someone with busted armour or just puncturing, Executioner gives them extra damage if they have taken an injury.
Just something I was doing with my gladiators. I had two macemen and a Quatal guy and the Quatal guy would get literally every kill. the others just strip armour, daze and stun.
Maybe I misunderstood you, but flails automatically hit the head if you use the special attack, so you shouldn't need jugglers.

I'm currently doing an All Indebted with mostly Daggers. I have a Long Axe in the back, with my Bannerman (which is huge, since Resolve is NOT a strong point of Indebted).
I full committed, and now have fired my 3 Starting Bros.
The benefit is that I pay NOTHING at all in Wages. Literally 0. Of course, this ALSO means I'm working solely with Indebted. HOWEVER, this allows me to really focus on hiring every single one available (only really 3 Southern Cities), and looking for those Diamonds in the Rough. So in this Play Through I'll have more turn over replacing LIVING members, and constantly keep more than 12 so I can always be developing talent.
It's a bit tougher since the Starting Stats are lower, but you can still get things like Iron Lungs, and you can get 3 Stars in a good spot (for me that's Melee Attack, Stamina or Melee Defense).
Really, the biggest negative is Resolve, but once my 'Main Stats' are up more I can pull off one to work Resolves to around 40 or so. Or just stay away from Geists and the like, and make sure I get kills early to keep Morale high.

      @TheClimbTo1 That's awesome!
I hadn't thought of using the indebted as the main force in a non-manhunters team. It's cool that they aren't limited to level 7 in a normal background company.
Have you played around much with the Manhunters background? I tried to get a manhunters tam going a couple of times but I kept getting smashed th-cam.com/video/MItJBIRAvyk/w-d-xo.html

@@MercytheMad I don't like it because it limits the levels of the Indebted you can get.
I prefer to just cycle my Starting Bros out over time (need to build up a few solid Indebted to like Level 3/4 to survive before cutting them loose).

Yeah that makes sense. Great thing about battle brothers is there is so many ways to play. Even beyond the different origins, you have found a way to subvert that to make your own origin! "Stabby-Freed-Slave-assassination-Co-op"?

Haha. Nice. Now I'm just imagining you having all your shortfcuts down, using auto-hotkey for macros etc for ultra speed and efficeincy...
