Lovett's first two periods are some of the most dominant wrestling I've ever seen Gomez endure -- two big mat returns, no-fear, upper body tangles and crazy hand control. Ofc all props to Ridge, but Austin's grown into a wise wrestler switching up the throws for duck under singles -- and his classy sportsmanship at the end congratulating Lovett.
gomez tried a throw in the first 30 seconds. that's how lovett got his takedown. to your point about lovett's dominance; that's prob the earliest i've ever seen riding time secured.
@user-yn1sf9mq3z And what impressed me about that failed toss: Lovett's strength countered it; he didn't wriggle out after getting ragdolled. Lovett then muscled out an arm bar tilt for back points.
@chriswitek9455 Exactly. Even the ref told them both to keep working. All the called stalemates, mat returns and constant tripod hand fighting say that Gomez fought as actively as one can in the down.
Interestingly Gomez got those tactics reversed this match: Start first with those end of match duck unders and single legs, THEN try those mixers and tosses at the end.
@@michaelmaloskyjr I’m sure that was instantly his thought after he failed to score off it. That’s his bread and butter and I think he got a little too comfortable doing it.
And as for Gomez I was at Oregon state in the seventies just drifting around kind of a bum but I practiced with the team and if a guy stuck the legs in the taught to spring back and lanD on your back to get a defensive pin or another move grab to get rid of the legs grab the feet of your opponent and with your elbows dig into the calf’s of your opponent it’s impossible to hang on
"get 'em wrestling Angel" from the Michigan coaches, when Brock was the only one to attempt a takedown in the first. Also, I don't know if I have ever heard a coaching staff call out a ref as much as they did this whole dual. Really weird.
I honestly if I was a Michigan coach i would force levan to try at least 15 takedowns a match this kid is like a bomb he has so much power and he is wasting it the coaches at Michigan gotta have some guts and get him going
the transitive property of sports has been disproven thousands of times. this is another example. it's all about matchups, especially in a sport like wrestling.
@@CroMagJohnson that’s so true, especially for these three teams. Caleb Smith beat Michael DeAugustino who beat Drake Ayala who beat Caleb Smith, Brock Hardy beat Sergio Lemley who beat Real Woods who beat Brock Hardy, and Peyton Robb beat Will Lewan who beat Jared Franek who beat Peyton Robb.
So hardy backs up immediately at 30 seconds and theres no stall call despite him doing nothing? The ref called out of bounds before that despite still being in? That match should have gone to ot

there's no need for intermission when you can just go during a Lewan match. youre not going to miss anything
hahahaha. comment of the night!
Sergio Lemley gonna be a problem
So no stall call on Gomez while getting rode for 4 minutes with his head on the mat but a stall call on Lovett 🤔
Awful hard to do anything with boots in and arms trapped. Def wasn't for lack of trying. Backing up on your feet late will always get called

Lemley with the intentional eye jab @4:03
Lemley is dangerous
Will lewan...the most BORING ranked wrestler ever
Him and cam but will is worse
So boring. His game plan is just play defense and escape. He deserved to lose this match.
I love watching him and deaugustino lose
he really only started wrestling in the third period. Makes you wonder why he cant do that all three periods
I hate watching him wrestle
Wonder why Gomez didn’t even try to catch Ridge’s boots coming in. Needs not to go upper body so quickly. Good match.

Why does Nebraska have a 47 year old at 141?
Comedy
Cry more
😂
Who? Brock Buttons?
He red shirteddddddd.
Lemley will be at Penn State next year per the standard.
What a statement win.
Horrible stalemate call in the 1st at 157
Lovett is a lock for a natty champ this year
No ones a lock in division 1
only if he wins big 10s
i think caleb henson wrestled him well in vegas, and actually outwrestled him the last 2 periods.
We will see how Henson bounces back, should be a great finals match.
Will “ The Lunesta” Lewan
…. it’s funny if you’re smart ;)

Ya honestly levan has more potential than any wrestler on earth just think how good he would be if he was aggressive

Why was Gomez even ranked with only five matches????
Iowa destroyed Nebraska, Michigan destroyed Iowa, so naturally, Michigan should’ve destroyed Nebraska, right? I guess not 🤷♂️

Starting to think these refs have no idea what stalling means 🤔
Tell me about it 🤦♂️
If Levi doesn't start wrestling with a little more urgency and aggression either one of these guys could upset him.
Big 10 only showing 3 matches in one of the bigger duals of the year? So lazy

Worst officiating this season
Nah that meet between Iowa and Michigan has this beat
Yeah, they give Gomez the takedown on Lovett but Lewan had Robb in the same exact position with more control and they give no points.
Must be that sports betting is allowed. Refs got money on the match🤔
Announcers also are M d riders lol
Ah he just looks that old
