The problem is his movies do not have a grey area With the characters either the character is a jerk, which he doesnt explain what makes them that way, or if they're going to redeem themselves, that is the problem. His characters are all one-sided, and 1 dimensional he Needs to hire writers to fill in the blanks , and I think it's starting to get to him if he has to fire back at everybody, not liking his films.
If you were paying attention Dallas told us why he was the way he was. Yes his characters are somewhat one-dimensional but I doubt his audience would appreciate complex characters besides his movies are plot driven and not character driven.

I've been saying something similar for years now--Tyler Perry writes everything like one of his plays (loud, bombastic, & melodramatic with paper-thin stories/plots) and shows that he never went to any film school or has any idea how to be a competent director or screenwriter everytime he releases a project.

Those people deserve to have those stories told but told with the best writing, best acting, production, etc. There is no way to have quality writing if you’re writing ALL the scripts. I'm not a Tyler fan, but I noticed that there are people who were critical of the movie before even watching it. So I feel like they watched with the intention of not enjoying and trashing. I feel like people who don't appreciate his movies should just avoid them and leave others to enjoy. I personally avoided this one cause Mia culpa was such a let down.

I felt the movie was good. I was confused as to why everyone so mad. We had a lot movies in the 90s that where also similar to each other. The Wood , The Best Men , Four Brothers they were similar. The Five Heartbeats and Temptations was similar one was fictional one based on real events . Nothing wrong with it. Leave that Black man alone

Here’s the facts. Tyler Perry doesn’t want to pay writers. When he did have them they wanted to unionize and he did t like that so he fired them.

We all ain't gonna get along just because we are black. Agree. What TP defended and what a lot of us are saying are two different things. I don’t take issue with him writing the stories that he says the Almighty is telling him to write…fine. I can’t judge that. But what a lot of us are saying is do a better job with the actual writing. Some of his concepts are really good. The writing starts out ok (sometimes) but then somewhere in the story, it just fizzles. Fast. The fact that it’s the same story over and over is another subject and the main reason I stopped watching. But again, if that’s what he feels “led” to do fine, I just won’t watch no biggie. The Madea movies make the lack of quality bearable, even funny. I’ve enjoyed a lot of those movies.

I must admit I only watched it because of Double Toasted bad movie review-They actually made me a TYLER PERRY FAN but I must admit you have to be a fan of SOAP OPERAS and I AM-A rare MALE who likes them but I can't help it because some of the first shows I remember watching were "The Young and the Restless" and "The Bold and the Beautiful." I remember watching those shows with my grandparents before I even started grade-school so I have a soft-spot for them and say what you want about Tyler Perry but A LOT of Black actors WORK and will continue to WORK because of him so you have to give him credit for that. 🎥
