Connor, you're alive! It's always great seeing a video uploaded by you or mike... I guess it's cos there's often long hiatuses between posts, so the anticipation builds :p Maybe I just need to get back to studying and stop checking youtube so much... either way, I'm happy now!
Still waiting for mine to arrive, I'm one of the international backers... Thanks for the vid, but it makes waiting that much harder, I am sooo looking forward to my printer!
That's a huge HBP! I have the Flashforge dual and it's HBP is about half that size. Let me know if you have any problems with ABS warping since your build environment is open. That was my biggest issue so I am ordering a clear acrylic enclosure kit to keep the build environment warm. Also, I use Kapton tape and Elmer's Purple glue stick which seem to give me the best results for adhesion. I have tried blue painters tape but does not work as well as Elmer's Purple. Need to experiment with PLA to see if I get better results. Great video btw!
Some have had problems with nozzle. They should use the E3D nozzle heads. E3D is coming out with their own 3D printer the BigBox looks like on Kickstarter and can change the heads and use any filament on the market. Has a pretty big build area too.
Both Marlin and Repetier firmware support auto bed leveling which should help you out with that big bed. I'm not sure how they would work with that size of a bed but I use it on my delta and it does something like 25 points over a 6.5" diameter piece and makes getting the first layer correct very easy.
william fleete You're not seeing things, I pretty much did disassemble and reassemble it a number of times. First, with the wrong rails, then I needed to insert the little plastic things that mate with the nut on the lead-screw, then I forgot the end-limit switch.
@OK2BCK- Just out of curiosity: why not? I cannot see a link between me being responsible (I'd be working with a friend who has a FFL) and experimenting, and anything bad. If you're hoping to "keep this out of the hands of the 'bad-guys'" or something similarly trite, too late. It's already out there. We might as well learn what we can.
Looks like a rather solid machine and I do like the build envelope of it. Enough room for quite a few interesting projects way beyond the printing little figurines or spacers. Any ideas in particular?
One of my more..... interesting... friends really wants to try making some AR-15 receivers, so that's probably going to happen. Anyone want videos of that?
I would certainly be interested in that. How durable would those be 3d printed? I heard some media "omg they gonna print guns" bullocks some time ago but I guess an upper receive has quite a lot of abuse to take?
Awesome video! Been looking for reviews about this machine for a while, i figured there were at least some minor quality issues considering the insanely low price. Would you consider this printer to be fixable by someone who is fairly inexperienced with electronics? (assuming the problems were the same as yours)
Congratulations on the 3D printer! I like the new workshop, looking forward to more.

Can't wait to see what you churn out in that.
Love your vids, hope to see more.

Thank you for posting this.
Love your work :)

Can you share the model of spool holder you are printing for the spool in the video.

(Not mine, just found it on thingiverse).
Connor Wolf Thank you, going to try it.... PLA or ABS ?
70C steppers are too hot.
JST XH connector, rating of 3A per pin - maybe a bit optimistic, even at 3A! www.jst-mfg.com/product/pdf/eng/eXH.pdf
Some Ebay JST XH conns from China aren't plated properly......really bad contacts. I bought a bag of 100 for a couple bucks......no real loss I guess.
Sounds like to many issues to me.
please don't print weapon parts with it
I'm sad to see you have been brain washed by our European friends on your pronunciation of aluminum.
It's half because I'm a contrarian bastard, and half because aluminium sound way better then aluminum.
Nope, he got it perfect.....:)

And I feel fine.
