Go search for ITF Taekwondo matches, I think you will enjoy them more. We havent had any tournaments or such as of late due to covid 19.. BUNCH of great matches. They even allow punches and kicks to the face
@bwontheblocc coming from someone who has fought at a national and world level the higher the level of the tournament the more you will see foot fencing like this with little commitment to full combos. idk your level but id say expect 60-80% of people to fight in this style
I am a kickboxer, and starting my martial arts career with TKD really helped me a lot even for kickboxing. It gave me the flexibility and agility that many other kickboxers do not have.
it just depends on what youre training for. If youre training for point fighting, youll be good at point fighting. If youre training for beating someones ass in a fight, youre gonna train differently bruh@@ericyoutube77

You can't say that to anyone who's a black belt and has much experience in the ring if he's playing an international tournament, when you step inside the ring and see your opponent, a moment of anxiety and fear strikes you right there in the heart, you know you're not there fighting the opponent he is the one fighting

I’m a black belt in taekwondo and have taken more of an interest in BJJ now. I remember going all out doing a bunch of kicks on my friends in class during sparring. Olympic sparring has changed so much that now they do little front leg kicks to tap the opponent and get easy points. So disappointing.
Agreed. I think AETF taekwondo has changed a lot in a good way. Much more dynamic. Looking at the World Cup this weekend in Koper it looks like ITF is also getting more popular. I would like to either start there or BJJ like you
go sparr with one of these guys. I guarantee their kicks are not as weak as most people think. And if you fought with KPNP armor before, you would know how hard it is to score points there
@@user-si6nj1oq3u If I see some "greats" who are worthy of respect then I shall give them that respect. The stuff in this video is not great and is unworthy of respect.
I'm brown belt that sparred with a national champion. And he kicked me all over the place. He kicked very hard and is so fast i couldn't touch him not once. I'm guess he is at there LvL or a little below . So on camera it looks slow and looks like they are leg tapping and weak kicks. But trust me if you would go in the ring like i have. They will hurt you, make you look weak and slow . Then they would knock you out. Unless you was at there LvL. Unless you have gone and sparred with there LvL you really dont know how it is. If you ever get a chance to do it . Try it just once and see what happens ok
I agree. I used to think this fight was boring, but watching them deeper, specially Lee, I could notice he doesn't need to hurt his opponents to score, 'cause he's so clean and has a great kicking technique, that makes it look easy, "weak" and boring, but no, he's in another level, he goes just right to the point. Amazing. And I also practice TKD, but I decided not to sparring anymore, but still loving it.I' sure, if I had a sparring with him, I'd go directly to the hospital. lol
People talk about old taekwondo (more powerful) but against a fighter as precise, clean and fast as Lee the old style dont have a chance (with THIS score system). In the time that old taekwondo do a spectacular kick this guys will probably touch your face twice.
the thing is that its becoming like rapier like fighting style cause of the point system wich is really disapointing old tkd still had those point systems but it was so much better than this ; im not saying that these people are not good fighters but the thing is that the point system does not let them go all out
Ugggg. They are killing Taekwondo. So heart breaking. When did this happen? It’s not a fight anymore. It’s just silliness. Greed and arrogance did this.
I'm tired of hearing mean comments to really explain why tkd use foot sensors, they use foot sensor to make the players think about their tactics. In old school tkd, less the defense more the offense. What if you are both offensive fighters and both use old school. One must be dominant. In the new rules, WTF encourages players to have tactics to fight
TKD is a “complimentary style” Id say. As a “fighter” I wouldn’t “major” in this style, but for kicks, I’d add it to my repertoire. Boxing, kicking boxing jiu jitsu/wrestling should be prioritized before this, but it still has a place in training
He knew he wasnt getting point with the kick to the back. The guy in the red never let his right leg fly. This is not a good example of a tkd bout, this is more a love tap point ass kicking.
If y’all wanna see TKD being an actual martial art instead of a sport go watch ITF or TKD used in MMA or something. WTF’s Power Era is long over and obviously pales in comparison to its former self but there’s no point in complaining about something that’s gone
Jiu-jitsu is a brain game. Even WKF style sparring is a brain game. Taekwondo (WTF/Olympic) is anything but... You want it to be a "brain game", you add hands, throwing, sweeps, takedowns to the mix, then you have a brain game. You don't have to add grappling, because then now you have MMA. Taekwondo comes from Tang Soo Do which comes from Shotokan which comes from Okinawan karate which had both striking and grappling. Put Karate Combat champion, Olympic silver medalist and multi time WKF champion Rafael Agheyev and against any taekwondo champion he will smoke them. This stuff is checkers. Add the aforementioned attributes and then you have chess. Add grappling then it becomes"Go". I say this as a Korean stylist with over three decades of training. I come from the Chuck Norris style (American Tang Soo Do). Chuck was a kicker who got his arse handed to him in the beginning by Japanese stylists. He improved his hands and he and his students dominated the tournament circuit in the late 1960s and 70s. There's a reason why Olympic taekwondo only gets two minutes of coverage at 2 am and isn't shown on prime time or even midday. Not saying there's no intelligence to it, just that there are levels. Blend Korean kicks with Japanese hands and you have a thing of beauty.
This is nothing, and boring to watch. It is like a couple of white belts trying to compete for the first time. Sloppy techniques and no warrior spirit.
