Kobe played in arguably the toughest western conference era ever while lebron played in arguably the weakest when he was in the east. This is such an important factor that doesn’t get talked about enough. Lebron would have nowhere near all those finals appearances if he played in Kobe’s conference. People also don’t want to mention Kobe’s dominance in the western conference match ups during the Shaq Kobe 3peat, which is more impressive than what Shaq did in the finals. The 3 peat finals competition was significantly weaker than what they had to face in the preceding western conference rounds. These things never get mentioned in the media. The real ones know Kobe’s greatness.
It’s funny because I remember people use to say certain teams were gonna beat a Lebron team in the east and then when it didn’t happen they called the teams weak. They did that when the Lakers won in 2020 to for the Western conference 😂. People just can’t stand seeing Lebron win so they always move the goalposts. Kobe was great and so is he. Well, there are a few things we have to think about. First, not only should Lebron hAVE NOT joined the Warriors, Kd shouldn’t have either and nobody will respect those rings for that reason. 2nd, the ststement was that KD was a leader and decision maker in winning before, during and after joint the Warriors. Third, KD may have made that decision or at least thought it was ok because he watched Lebron form the team they did in Miami. It wasn’t older guys not in their prime like other guys in the past. Lastly, yes, Iggy won the finals MVP, but we are talking about LEAGUE MVP? As far as Finals MVP, that was a robbery! Steph should have been awardee. Yes Iggy averaged 16 points and made some big plays, but he was guarding Lebron, and Lebron was putting up amazing numbers! The problem with last part of your post is Lebron had 3 of top 10-15 players in NBA on his teams from 2011 to 2017 in a VERY, VERY weak east! The best team Lebron played in that 7 year stretch was Kyle Lowry (overachiever) and Derozan (choker and head case). In 2018, he lost Kyrie but had to go 7 games against Indiana with Oladipo as best player. Then had to go 7 games with Tatum rookie, and J. Brown in 2nd year. At least Lebron had Love and great role players. If LeBron is truly the self proclaimed "GOAT" he would've NEVER needed to stack his teams in a weak east. Well, to be fair, Kobe's foibles are also being airbrushed -- arguably far more aggressively than his triumphs. For example, in his last three seasons he shot 36.6%. Now, obviously the Achilles Injury cost him his greatness. But, the issue is that Kobe, unlike many other greats that had fallen off, continued to shoot and shoot and shoot while, frankly, shooting so poorly. In his last three seasons, he also averaged 17.7 FGAs per game. His career average is 19.5 FGAs per game. When Charles Barkley was in his prime -- and won MVP -- he averaged 18.1 FGAs per game. He also shot 52%. In KG's final three seasons -- the same period as Kobe's final three -- he was barely a role player. He didn't attempt to be what he couldn't be any longer: a star. He averaged 45.6% on 5.6 FGAs during that time. Kobe has possibly the most deluded and destructive late-career statistical profile ever seen: notable volume (that you'd expect for a star player) on horrendous effeciency (that placed him near the bottom of the league). Kobe's PER in his last three seasons was 13.8. Notably under the league average of 15.5. This is just one example of how Kobe escapes scrutiny. There are others, including how he was dependent on HOF big men to win even a single playoff series. That is: Kobe never won a playoff series without either Shaq or Gasol. Gasol also led the Lakers in regular season Win Shares every season that he played with Kobe. It's essentially unheard of for an MVP-level player to not lead his team in WS in 1) the year he wins MVP and 2) for half a decade or more of seasons, combined. There are other issues with Kobe. This isn't to say that he wasn't an all-time great, but at the same time he often escapes scrutiny on major failings.

You also never seen a team like golden state or Brooklyn stack up. U can talk about how much help he has all u want but what about the teams he is facing
Chuck is 1000% right. You ever watch a movie and at the end say "well if they just did that in the beginning they could have avoided all that trouble"? But do you know why they don't write the script that way? Because no one would watch a 5 minute movie where the protagonist wins right away. It's far more entertaining and memorable to watch their struggle and how they overcome it. No one wants to watch the hero take a shortcuts. Likewise, it's just not as entertaining to watch superteams play because, no matter what happens in the regular season, you can almost always tell that no one is beating them in a 7 game series of healthy and that's boring because it's too damned easy. It's reasons like that Jordan is still considered the GOAT. Yes, they got him help but the struggle of losing to the Pistons and working on his body and game because that's what HE could do to make the team better is a part of his legacy. Same goes for guys who never won one but played their asses off trying. Hell, CP3 has a greater legacy of you ask me. He didn't leave bad teams for good ones necessarily, he went to bad teams and literally made them better with his presence. LeBron? Blow up the team and get him better help. Chuck is 100000% right.
lol Chris is so funny. Nash got hurt in the beginning of that season, Pau got hurt mid way through, Dwight was never healthy and Kobe BLEW out his Achilles. And D’Antoni wasn’t the right guy for the job.
Lebron stacking his team has nothing to do with being the greatest. It's cheap and it does take away from your legacy but whether he stacked his team or not, he's nowhere near Jordan's level.
Most basketball players only have about a high school education while most media types all have advanced college degrees. LeBron is way better than Kobe. It's not even close except for people who make emotional arguments about "Mamba mentality" or other crap that can be measured.
I think what gets missed in this debate is that media and players aren't fans. Fans don't follow players they follow teams. Jordan is a legend in Chicago. Kobe is a legend in LA. Bird is a legend in Boston. Giannis already is a legend in Milwaukee and Steph in San Francisco. Where is LeBron gonna be revered like that? People respect him, but they will never love him. I get it, he had a bad situation in Cleveland, but why couldn't he build his legend in Miami? Fans wanna see great players build great dynasties and LeBron isn't bothered with that and IMHO it's gonna cost him.
You a fool for that take lmfao he came back to cleveland to win the chip there. After that he left again because that organization is incapable of bringing in good players. They will always be a bad franchise I mean look at them when he left it’s day and night. So he left again he fulfilled his promise. Did you know Kobe wanted to leave LA but instead they built a championship team around him so he doesn’t need to leave easy as that.

Chuck maybe annoying at times but he’s so right on this argument. LBJ is a future hall of famer and has done great things in this game. However, he took an easier path in his quest for rings by teaming up with other superstars. If he had never left Cleveland and played there his entire career, maybe the narrative would be different. Furthermore, losing to Dallas in 2011 in the way the Heat lost it doesn’t help LBJs case.
The last guy popped the bubble on all the media analysts Chris was Impressed and shocked and Rob was stunned and gut punched lol. Im not a Bron fan, but was he was dealt in Cleveland and did was glitch in history that’s how good he was. He deserves to be in the goat debate as does MJ.
It’s different if those teams drafted the players and they became stars that’s totally different. But if they are already superstars and then forms a team together then that’s creating a super team…
I’m with Charles...the only reason people put LeBron ahead of Kobe is because the media has sucked LBJ’s a$$ because they were terrified they’d lose access to him. LBJ is behind Kobe and MJ to me...how do you not win more than MJ and Kobe when you had so many more HOF prime teammates. Prime HOF teammates LeBron: Wade, Bosh, Kyrie, Love, Anthony Davis, Russell Westbrook MJ: Pippen, Rodman Kobe: Shaq, Pau Gasol LeBron has played with more prime HOF players than MJ and Kobe combined yet they still have more titles.
Dirk having a ring is what lowers LeBron for me. There is no time he was dominant long when your peers have rings as well some use to have the same amount.
if lebron didn't come up small in that 2011 finals we all would be having a different discussion. idc what anyone says, lebron went back to cleveland to help bring them a championship after spending the early years of his career there. if we gonna talk about lebron being on stacked teams to win championships, we might as well mention the warriors needing KD after they lost that finals. they were already stacked and won championships but also needed KD too. 🤨
@@TheMegatron673 bulls are my squad. I know about all of that. I was only making the point that people be trying to make the bron heat lost to the mavs appear bad on his resume but sweep under the rug the same year what the Mavs did to kobe and the Lakers earlier (2nd round I believe) and worse

Im not bothered by anybody who puts jordan above lebron even though i am more of a lebron fan that did live through and watched the jordan era. My problem is the narrative that lebron stacked the deck. He was drafted to the worst organization in basketball that failed miserably to surround him with enough talent in order for him to win a title. He put his destiny in his own hands so he wouldnt end up like charles barkley with no rings. Although young he beat a thunder team with 3 future hall of famers on it. A spurs team with 4 future hall of famers on it and a hall of fame coach. Then an all time great team in golden state. Would he have beaten any of those teams without making sure he had adequate help himself. Maybe miami wasnt the greatest but we are putting giannis on a pedestal for beating the hawks in the east finals and then suns in the finals. 2 teams that came out of nowhere and got on a roll. Do we really believe they wouldve beaten the nets if they were at full strength and furthermore would we think the Lakers would have a chance next year if they dont make the moves they did. The league is different now. Players force their way out all the time now. Im sure if patrick ewing, charles barkley and say reggie miller forced their way onto one team michael may have had to do some similar things but we will never know because the league was different then. Lebron shouldnt be punished because he has been ahead of this ever changing game.
Those 2008-10 Lakers were also stacked. Pau Gasol and Ron Artest were among the top players at their positions, plus solid veterans like DFish, Lamar Odom, and Trevor Ariza all played key roles on those teams. In fact, just about every one of Kobe's champion teams were "stacked". Yet LeBron gets smoke for playing on stacked teams? Double standard.
KYRIE AVG 30 4 4 IN THE 2017 FINALS & WAS MORE EFFICIENT THAN CURRY IN EVERY STATISTICAL CATEGORY SO PLEASE TELL ME HOW IT WAS UNFAIR. Btw love avg 16 11.

Because Lebron is a passive-aggressive phony that stacks his team. He is a supreme athlete, but he looks clumsy on the court. Let’s be honest. He cannot really shot. His handle is average. He is just big, fast, and supremely-athletic. His game is ugly. He is not the ‘basketball prototype’. Nothing about his game is smooth, pretty, artistic. You can’t compare a good gm and owner to terrible ones. Seriously why did the cavs with Dan Gilbert to for Lebron his first 8 years? Mo Williams? KD got to play Russ , Harden and Ibaka his years in OKC. TALENT! OKC with Sam Presti always made moves! So how can you ignore the fact this man played for one of the worst owners in sport?
So if a player gets drafted to a bad owner and an awfull Front Office the should accept that and suck for the rest of their career?
Sure if you consider the lakers having to clear bad contracts and trade away all their good young players and future draft picks the easy way.
You also can’t compare good management to bad ones. KD was drafted to a franchise with great management. Sam Presti drafted 3 MVP’s, Ibaka, and Steven Adams. Hell, Curry’s my favorite player, he got drafted into a place with great management that surrounded him with great talent and made plenty of moves to put them in competition.
LeBron was drafted to a team with terrible management and an owner as immature as Dan Gilbert. He gave them 8 years and the best guy they got him was Mo Williams. So he took his fate into his own hands.
@@goldenstatewarriors9418 What was the Bulls before MJ got drafted? LBJ as much as MJ were both valued as the best player in the team. They both can demand anything.
I love how mj three peated twice but nobody says anything about the bulls picking up hof caliber players and nothing said about how the team without him was one game away from the eastern conference finals

Kobe was a better defender but overall lebron was better
@@edrym4269 Yeah they would hold that over Lebron even if he won without Shaq
@@blackphillip564 yeah because it takes a Journalism Degree to know who is better at Basketball… shut up
Did he just say Lebron was a better defender than Kobe?
@UCeVqKKkYxgB-yeC2-K_1InA you're delusional for not understanding that take...LeBron has no love anywhere. He was right...read a book and learn something and stop tryna be Savanah James smh

Kobe is held to a way higher standard than Lebron
Lol
Lol gosh can y’all stop lying man. Ain’t nobody held to a higher standard than LeBron. You got dudes in these comments talking about Kobe is better and he literally worse numbers and playoff performances than LeBron.
Lol if he never left Cleveland and kept losing you same people would be talking about how he can’t win etc. Just straight up hypocrites.
MJ and Kobe are better
LeBron ain't passed Tim Duncan let alone Kobe
Just that point right there. Teams back then got high picks being great teams, that doesn’t happen today
Yeah people will ignore that part
The last guy popped the bubble on all the media analysts Chris was Impressed and shocked and Rob was stunned and gut punched lol. Im not a Bron fan, but was he was dealt in Cleveland and did was glitch in history that’s how good he was. He deserves to be in the goat debate as does MJ.
Bruh put a time tag
It’s different if those teams drafted the players and they became stars that’s totally different. But if they are already superstars and then forms a team together then that’s creating a super team…
I don’t think any player would have won on the Cavs the way were doing things.
System was made for mj . Kobe dismantled the narrative and the players .
Would you mind expanding on this I’m interested in what all you mean?
its so true
The Lebron-GOAT conversation was over in 2011. I`ve watched the finals probably 20 times since then, still haven`t found Lebron in all 4th quaters..
Prime HOF teammates
LeBron: Wade, Bosh, Kyrie, Love, Anthony Davis, Russell Westbrook
MJ: Pippen, Rodman
Kobe: Shaq, Pau Gasol
LeBron has played with more prime HOF players than MJ and Kobe combined yet they still have more titles.
Lebron the only superstar to be swept twice in finals
Dirk having a ring is what lowers LeBron for me. There is no time he was dominant long when your peers have rings as well some use to have the same amount.
if lebron didn't come up small in that 2011 finals we all would be having a different discussion. idc what anyone says, lebron went back to cleveland to help bring them a championship after spending the early years of his career there. if we gonna talk about lebron being on stacked teams to win championships, we might as well mention the warriors needing KD after they lost that finals. they were already stacked and won championships but also needed KD too. 🤨
So should Kobe be lower too? That same mavs team led by Dirk swept the lakers in same year
@@dkallday197 jordan's bulls been swept plenty of times before they actually won. one of the teams that swept them was the celtics.
@@dkallday197 oh i grew up watching jordan, pippen and rodman.
Lebron fans like doing mental gymnastics and make you think winning with more all stars (Lebron) is more impressive than winning with 1 your whole career (Jordan)
Three peated TWICE. . 6-0 in the finals. DPOY. 6 Finals MVP. 10 scoring titles. Steals leader. “Now go home and get your shine box”
Thanx Bro. Perfectly put. I applaud you
Kobe won 2 without Shaq so he will always be in my top 5!!!
BIG Facts!!!!
Those 2008-10 Lakers were also stacked. Pau Gasol and Ron Artest were among the top players at their positions, plus solid veterans like DFish, Lamar Odom, and Trevor Ariza all played key roles on those teams. Broussard Lebron is not a better all around defender then Kobe Bryant.
Rob is so jealous of and hates lebron’s disregard for him it’s so evident
Because Lebron is a passive-aggressive phony that stacks his team. He is a supreme athlete, but he looks clumsy on the court. Let’s be honest. He cannot really shot. His handle is average. He is just big, fast, and supremely-athletic. His game is ugly. He is not the ‘basketball prototype’. Nothing about his game is smooth, pretty, artistic. He is not that skilled…he is just a better athlete than everyone else..or he used to be, before he got a little older.

@@insidejah9293 he was drafted by Charlotte for the Lakers keep up.
@@bighomey4343 - EXACTLY...it was a draft day trade! He was traded...it's a technicality but it's important because of how people like Charles and Rob are blatantly leaving out significant details to paint false narratives... If Charlotte kept Kobe do you think he would have won 5 championships???? Knowing Kobe like we knew him, he would have asked for a trade out of Charlotte after losing repeatedly. He was fortunate to have been traded to the best possible situation for him! Same thing with Tim Duncan! He was fortunate that Spurs had a bad year and ended up getting him as the #1 draft pick! Sometimes it works out like that in life and it's Ok! But to try to say that Kobe had a harder struggle than Lebron is just a false narrative, because if he was kept by the team that drafted him he would have never won that many championships.

@Renard Martin another important fact
At LeBron's age and with the team he had last year, that couldn't hold out their own in the playoffs, what do you expect from him?
Should he fill his roster with a bunch average, non-committed teammates who are merely chasing the "bag"?🤔🤔🤔
Last year he had a rather youthful team, but they couldn't help him later in the season.
Everyone complained that the Lakers lacked shooters, now they are addressing it with what they have available to them, then everyone is saying it's a stacked team.
If he assembles a weak team in his 19th season, these same clueless "analysts" would roast him for choosing a poor team, now that he is surrounding himself with veterans and guys he can rely on, they still talk about it as a stacked team instead of accepting the fact the Lakers are doing well with the little resources at their disposal.
How can this guy please these haters?

Bron is nowhere near a better defender than Kobe. Being more versatile doesn’t mean you’re a better overall player. Bron had 60 pounds and 3 inches on Kobe. Bron only avg 2-3 more rebounds and assists than Kobe. How many rebounds do you think Kobe would avg if you put him Brons body? Bron was ball dominant and was a stat padder. Kobe played just as well off the ball than he did on the ball. He played in a system where it’s not meant for one person to avg a ton of assists. Kobe was better on both sides of the ball and had much better intangibles. I’m ok if you have Bron above Kobe, but Broussard always hated Kobe. His comments shows
Charles and other old heads fail to realize that Jordan actually had a competent GM who got pieces that helped him win. Through the draft they got Pippen, through free agency they got Rodman, they surrounded him with shooters/scorers in Kerr, Paxton and Kukoc etc etc. LeBron never had that in his first years with Cleveland so he left.
