Hi Malcolm can't believe you get nasty comments the whole thing is brilliant ,never thought their was heaven on earth but to your place is it .god bless and look after your self . Paul Walsh ,Ireland.
great video, I don't think you need to change a thing! these are perfect. We are all tired of being suffocated in the feigned enthusiasm from commercial gardening shows. When I am in a garden it is slow, tranquil, ageless. Commercial gardening shows take the reality of gardening and inject it with steroids and hyperactivity. Anyway, enough ranting. Love your videos! It never ceases to amaze me how japanese maples almost glow in autumn. Especially that second viridis you showed. Glowing a firey orange.
I actually look forward to your wee films every week (how sad am I? ;). No seriously, keep 'em coming...certainly beats the other dross available like Gardeners' QT (don't get me started) etc hands down! I like your messing about nonsense which is always underpinned with your great experience, love of plants and amazing skill at demystifying all things horticultural. The latter can't be good for business, but hey-ho, you are certainly passing on the knowledge in an unpretentious stripped-back manner. Good for you and thanks from us! Oh and, whatever you've been through health-wise recently I hope you are bouncing back swimmingly! Hope to make it to the nursery one day, if I do I will noise you up. Take care. :)
Another lovely video.... I'm across the pond here in New England. I think we may be similar growing zone. Keep up the informative videos; I've learned much from you. Especially about propagating new plants, saving seeds for next year's garden.
Thank you for your kind comment. I will edit the last one soon and then we will be offering advice on plants or techniques to anyone that wants it....only the idea is to show people practically how to do things and maybe demystify gardening a touch.....we have pruning of climbing roses, ramblers, and somebshrubs already requested, also some stuff about hydrangeas. It will be hopefully viewer led information......done in our own way of course, warts and all. Best wishes.....Malcolm
Once again Malcolm - brilliant video. I've learned more about plant choice, care and propagation from your videos than I ever did from the mainstream TV and monthly magazines. How has the recent brutal weather affected the nursery? Lawrence
Currently rewatching this series as I find then so useful and informative, tips on bulb planting brilliant, how did the crocus hill (tellytubby hill) come out this spring ? Hope it worked, if you find the time you'll have to show us next spring . Cheers, jack.
Well Malcolm, keep em comming, the videos that is.I keep going back over your old videos as a reference and still get a buzz off ye,,,this time i am looking for the variety of yellow kniphofia shown around the 21-22 min mark(i asked your advice last year bout Lysimachia Alexander, which i introduced to the garden with great success) Thanks Again, John (Waterford,Ireland)
Hi Malcolm Love your videos. What is the name of the tree in the churchyard, I cannot make out the first part .........something japonicum. Thanks so much Ray
Hello Ray, Thanks for your kind comments......have been a touch unwell but all fixed now so we will get to producing a few more items in the near future.....one coming up on bluebells soon. The tree is a Katsura, or to sound posh it is Cercidiphyllum japonicum....it is the tree the late Geoff Hamilton wanted to be buried under, and this specimen was given to me by the late Geoffrey Smith.....both superb and enthusiastic gardeners, the latter being my mentor over many years. It was by sheer coincidence I bought a house where he grew up.....but his encouragement was primarily what kept me in horticulture (as opposed to Horticultural research) and why I'm still a nurseryman........albeit a miserable, grumpy old twat these days. Thank you again for the kind comment....to be honest I get a few nasty ones which often make me feel like not bothering,,,,but that's life I guess. Best wishes.....Malcolm
Love your videos, please slow down when walking(panning and zooming )it blurs many of the plants you are showing. If you hi light a plant is there a way you could include a written name in or below the video. You are quite the character and we enjoy your "personal " touches.
Hello Dello and thank you for your very kind comments. One of my problems, and it's a perennial one, is time.....so I tend to rush things. But I take your point and am quite aware of it....and agree with you about applying a caption of plant names. I am planning to do more in depth plant profiles and techniques to hopefully demystify gardening a bit....After this series about running a nursery is over I shall apply more care and give more time to the editing, it is a very good point and I shall act on it. The videos were only started as something to occupy and amuse myself with while I waited for some bones to heal following an accident....it's never really been my thing but some people seem to enjoy them....god knows why, is I'll keep doing a few. Anyway, not wanting to be a boring old fart I shall say thanks once again and wish you good health. Best wishes......Malcolm

I love the unscripted raw nature of the videos. It's refreshing. Thanks for filming I found it really interesting.
