Major props for nearly taking a restraint to the face for our entertainment! I had always noticed this coaster being near the bottom of the Mitch Hawker polls, but had never understood why. Your review about sums it up. It's crazy how the one at Sea World that opened up just one year later looks so much better.
It seems like an underwhelming ride. Those restraints look so much more complicated than they needed to be. I'm glad that Intamin learned their lesson there.
I’m not a fan - terrible restraints which are cramp inducing and positively distressing if stapled. If they replaced the trains with Intamin’s modern straddle coaster sets and pumped up the speed a smidge, it would be a decent little coaster.
I went recently to DW, just doing all our parks again this year on my year off before I do a big trip OS again next year, and I have some thoughts. I think Motocoaster, as bad as it is, can be salvaged: 1) New train from Intamin with the new seating position 2) If they are going to leave it outside, add a couple tunnels, a little theming and repaint the entire track as it just looks AWFUL. 3)Have the tyres rotate slightly faster for the launch, just a little, so it's a tad more thrilling and won't feel like it's going to valley all the time 4) the real way to make it actually good, enclose it completely with some racing type neon FX (with the new trains of course). or of course 5) Just demolish the bloody thing and replace it with something much better. Actually, I am certain there are small parks that would snap this up. Just don't offer it to Gumbuya, please don't.
A 3 is fair enough. Believe it or not I managed to ride this even at 6ft4 but man was it uncomfy. I will say when I rode it in 2009, the one and only time, it wasn't rough at least.
When i rode it in 2011 i though it was mainly bad because it's meant to be a motorbike themed coaster but it just doesn't hug the ground at all so there's no "motobike" experience to be had, and the Mick Doohan theme is barely there. At least have a pre-ride queue video with him in it or something. I think with the right level of theming and situated much lower to the ground, this could have been a great ride. But it was just plonked in.
This is the weakest ride in Australia. If we have to suffer such a boring layout, at least make it go fast! At least there's an easy decision for park management when they are deciding what to rip out next.
Honestly Dreamworld should also sell this to Gumbuya World, as it would be a better ride there. They did a good job refurbishing and retheming Buzzsaw which looks so much better with Green paint. And I'd think they do better with this too.
I agree. Dry landscaping. Maybe they were looking for motor bike vibe, but hills etc. missing. Motor bike configuration is a "strange bird" WDW is experiencing that on Tron. Arrow had motor bikes then switched to soap box racers. Hydraulic motors don't have same torque or UMMMPPFFF! Like motor or LIMS/LSMs. No matter how great the manufacturer, they can still miss the mark. Thanks for review.
Maloney's Coasters considered Motocoaster to be the worst coaster he has ever ridden, he said that the restraints are awful, the designs are stupid, and the track is shuffling along the track, he even considered this coaster as his arch-nemesis, I'm serious.
Sea World is pretty close and has a somewhat similar ride to this but this looks a bit tamer. If it's completely forceless then it would be ok but usually these are fun even without being intense at all.
The UK only has one motorcycle coaster velocity at flamingo land and i think it may be a clone of this. I enjoy it maybe because im short and loved it as a kid i was a bit confused by the restraints the first time they are not really good for tall or large riders i believe velocity is actually faster at 54 mph
This is my least favourite coaster of all time, its restraint system is the major problem, it completely cripples the operations and makes it an uncomfortable often painful ride. The layout is rough and uneventful and there are really no redeeming qualities. I give it a 1.2 out of 10 and I hope Dreamworld replaces it soon after Jungle Rush opens.
Honestly... If they removed this attraction for a Gurstlaur infinity coaster, I feel like that would be a far better investment than a garbage coaster that uses up too much good flat land.
@@CanobieCoaster That would also be perfect, but I worry they will stray away from water attractions due to the possible lack of popularity it might have after the accident, even though the do desperately need one.
I can't say that it's the worst, simply because DarkKoaster exists for whatever reason, I haven't been on any of these, but the fact that BGW is adding a coaster that they don't need and has no reason to be built (they don't need a 4th multi-launch coaster) automatically makes it better than DarkKoaster by default. Then again I'd rather they have built a powered coaster than a launch coaster purely because of it not having a launch.

I've never had a problem with leg crushing. The ride just hurts my ass and I don't know why.

Updated trains/restraints would go a long way with this ride. It would improve comfort and capacity.

I would love a Power Splash using the old plot of Tower of Terror, especially since they no longer have any water rides.

This ride is so bad. Sea World's Jet Rescue is so much better!
Wish I could have gotten on Jet Rescue, but it was closed the day I visited.
