How many cans of primer did it take to cover the boat awesome video I’m getting ready to do my boat very helpful
The boat looks amazing!
Hey I took love in ga doing a job boat down to the priming and sealing...I just wish my old paint came off this fast took me several months due to 6 layers of paint and 2 of bottom epoxy
How much would you say one of these John boats, freshly painted would sell for? I got a 12ft aluminum boat that I no longer need. I’m thinking of giving it a nice paint job and selling it.
Depending on how dented it is, probably $500-$1000
wow! that is crazy how good you made it look! If I wanted to paint my jon boat can I just sand all the old paint off and use some spraypaint from HomeDepot?
Thank you! If you’re going down to the aluminum, make sure to use self etching primer first...I’ve seen other people use spray paint and you may want to use the automotive stuff they have at HD if you’re going that route.
@@flipmyjonboat4485 thank you! I just got back from trying to take all 4 coats of old paint off the boat. It is a lot of work to do that can I just sand it down a little just to make it smooth and then spray paint it?
@@BrownBaitCo yes you can. They make certain paints for that application. Look around to see what's best for you.
@@bayoujaeger6299 thanks man!
How many cans of priner did you use for inside?
I used 4 cans of the self etching primer for the entire boat. Only needed 1.5 cans for the floor with the automotive primer. You’ll need at least two for the inside of your boat.
What’s the difference between the self etching and automotive primer?
@@johnthedon365 self etching primer is used on bare metal before paint; it adheres to the surface (etches) of the bare metal to give a smooth surface for paint & ensure maximum adhesion.
@@johnthedon365 and I see I didn’t answer the second part...an automotive primer is a high quality primer used before automotive applications before enamels, top coats, lacquers etc. I used the automotive on the floor bc I didn’t take it down to bare metal. If I had, I would’ve needed to use the self etching primer.
Can I use this primer direct on paint?
I would remove those horrible pieces from the stern
