I really appreciate your transparency and honesty about this and your willingness to tell and teach the truth about this. There's many that are mislead in the industry. It really sucks for someone when they make a decision to make a change based on what they may have been told only to find out they got lied to and taken advantage of and now they still have to pay bills and support families etc. You can only go so long without making money in this or anything.

Great video. I wish you were around when I first started. I lasted 2 years as a company driver and got so fed up (worked for a couple of horrible companies). I gave it up and started working local for a construction company til I managed to get employed with the city in which I live as a heavy equipment operator. I am a supervisor now and have a good pension plan and benefits and make slightly more than the company driver in this example. So things worked out for me in the end. But, had I had your advice back when I started, I may have still been driving as an owner operator or lease operator. Keep up the great work.

I think my company 2018 T800 is getting around 5.3mpg. When they bought it I’m sure they just walked in and said give me that pretty white one LOL
Depending on which trailer I’m pinned to I’m 43000-53000 LBS empty and it’s specked out all wrong in my opinion.
It’s not the worst I’ve ever had, but definitely not the best.
Heavy hauling is terrible for mileage.

Go to your accountant and your lawyer find out how much it cost to setup a corporation. Probably more than you think it is and then talk to your accountant about Corporate tax rates and your personnel tax rates to find out just how much really ends in your pocket. Don't forget that those repair bills can easily climb to a third of that gross for if you have a bad year and then some years the cost of fuel will be much higher. The reason that the company offers these programs is because it benefits them financially.

Thank you so much for all of the great info. I’ve been in school for three years and planned to go on to get my PhD but that seems to be slowly slipping from my grasp. I am strongly considering going back to being an owner operator. I was previously an owner operator and made some pretty big mistakes that could’ve bankrupted me, although I was fortunate enough to sell before that happened. Just in the past couple weeks watching your channel I learned what my mistakes were and what I will do to correct it in the future if I go back to the trucking industry! Thank you for ask the work you put in! Who knows, maybe I’ll work for you when you open a facility on the west coast!

I watch all of your videos I can since finding you on TH-cam! Thank you for everything you do on trucking. I was a driver for 44 years in the USA and in parts of CANADA. Have been thinking about leasing and putting a driver on the truck . Been trying to find a company that essentially would operate the truck and maintain, pay the driver send each month settlement to me after everything so I could build a small fleet. I can’t drive anymore but I can’t find a company that does that any longer. There use to be a couple of outfits that did it that way. I’m still looking for them but haven’t found the category they are under in trucking. Still here!🚛🇺🇸😎

  • @sllogistics4754
    @sllogistics4754 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

I'm constantly trying to explain to drivers that if they would just simply move 2 or 3 of my loads every week they would gross $200,000 to $300,000 annually. It's only a 500 mile trip, or 1000 miles round if you deadheaded back empty. Does any flatbed carrier care to make sense of this? Why would you not want guaranteed loads?
    Here is the math:
    Moving 2 loads per week
    $2000/load x 2 = $4000/wk
    $4000 x 52 weeks in a year = $208,000
    Gross: $200,000/yr
    Moving 3 loads per week
    $2000/load x 3 = $6000/wk
    $6000 x 52 weeks in a year = $312,000
    Gross: $300,000/yr
    Distance: 500 miles
(5 miles per gallon at $3.40 per gallon fuel price)
    Fuel costs: $350/Trip
