- I've had the Gaems Vanguard for close to 4 years now. In this video I talk about my personal experience with this unit and whether it's still worth it. If you haven't seen this unit in action, I go over a quick history of the company and the products they have made. In addition I also go over some quick specs and a few gripes that I've found. How did you power it while on the go?
You don't have a lot of subscribers because you have too much common sense and ingenuity for kids today. You appeal more to adults like myself that haven't quite grown up yet but still comprehend the important things in life. I wish you well and this was a good video.

I’ve had a Vanguard for 3-4 years now and I’ve absolutely loved it... One thing about the monitor is the lag time, it has ZERO lag! Very fast response times, picture even at 720 still looks just fine ...
I hear ya. At 720p I feel like it's an absolute beast still. I did just order the new Guardian however and I'm excited to take this new piece of machinery on the road.

I think it would be well worth it. If you are gone that much, this is definitely worth the investment.

I know this video is 5 years old but this is an awesome explanation on the WHOLE vanguard unit.
Now being 2024, im kind of in-between getting this (used of course because Walmart/Amazon still have this listed for $279-300+ new.. which is nuts for a product released a decade ago now lol)
But between this and just a portable monitor which I could get new for $80, FHD 1080 native, IPS screen.
But theres something about the whole aesthetic of having everything in one little suitcase package, lol. To just throw on the end of my bed or use on my couch while my gf watches a show there or something.
I, like you, have never been a video guy. So I can't really tell much of a difference from a 720p upscaled to 1080 from a 1080p native screen either.
We'll see which one I go for but I really did enjoy this video and hope to see more from you one day, i know its been a while.

I started with the G155 Sentry. Then upgraded to the Vanguard. Love this thing
I did the same thing. The Vanguard is still super solid.
This could easily replace remote play if I could actually afford it however.

I am in the military and I have one, I take it with me everywhere I travel including when I go to the field. It's a life saver.
I recently got a job that's gonna take me away from home 13 days at a time so something like this will be perfect for me since i'd be sharing a hotel room and don't wanna take up the hotel tv from the other guy, probably just use it till I can afford a gaming laptop to get the best of both worlds while away.
It's perfect for that exact scenario. I absolutely love this thing.
ReaperOfBurgers I'd suggest the Legion Gaming Laptop. It's cheap and affordable compared to other gaming laptops and quite strong

I was working in the Alberta Oil industry. Staying in Work Camps. I would take my PS4 with me in one of these.. loved it. Good for a few hours of play here and there.. I also have a 6 foot cheap extension cord that easily goes in the case.
That extension cord is a great idea. The newest releases from GAEMS are pretty awesome. I got the newest one and it doesn't disappoint. Other than the price point haha

This Video i have watched regarding the GAEMS Vanguard is the best i have ever seen, i purchased one of these bad boys about 2 years ago, it is outdated, but it has been a life saver. I’m always checking GAEMS website for a new version of this unit, 1080p should be the standard and maybe upscaled to 4K . I really hope they do release a new model

Telesplash Gaming i just checked the website, the new sentinel looks much better, its a 17.3 inch, wish it was bigger, would of purchased that one, but i guess i will wait for the new vanguard, I hope its 19 inches or bigger

MexiChriS just look it up online, even at the GameStop store online, it says there will be newer product of this in December that you can pre-order
SIIL3NTxKIILL3R thanks man. I did not know that. Although GameStop release dates aren’t always accurate. They do typically put up dates just as placeholders as I’ve preordered a lot from them + work for them. So sucks waiting on things.

I've had mine since January. Very handy being a truck driver who stays often in hotels. It recently dropped off my dresser because of the way I had it sitting. I picked it up fearing the worse. To my surprise my Xbox one was unharmed and screen was also intact. Very durable. Oddly enough the only thing that broke was the exact same clamp as yours. But now I know how to fix it. 👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿

I made sure it worked they connect a X box 360 to it. But it's didn't come with the remote control or the little bags. So I don't need the remote? Right?

Nice video man. I'm still only using the PS3 which is funky because you have to turn it sideways with the USB Keys Falling underneath the lip of the front therefore require about a 3foot hdmi. Great tool on the road though used it a lot before the pandemic. Now more of a second screen.

I am planning to buy one because is portable monitor and for some reason when i play my Ps3 on the TV my eyes hurts but when i am on my PC monitor i don´t have this problem, you said with this Gaems monitor you eyes does not hurt because the screen is different so i hope i don´t have any problems in my eyes too, thanks for the video.

I will buy that October the 26th 2018 today is the 18th and I am definitely going to buy the 19 in I travel a lot and this would be perfect for me with my Xbox One or PlayStation 4 or even my Xbox 360 which I have a ton of games this is awesome I am looking forward to getting this, thanks for the video.

Ya. It's definitely a solid little system. I've played a lot of games on it.
Wish they resume selling this in Asia.. GAEMS stopped selling it due to lack of demand of it.. it would go well with a mini itx pc but a recent successful crowdfunding campaign product called the vinpok split offers a similar price but has built-in speaker, mini HDMI port (not proprietary port), a type c port for devices including Samsung dex, Nintendo switch and another type c port for power
That's really interesting. I'll have to look up the vinpok split. It would be fun to see what other countries offer for gaming around the world.

Yo!!!! I just purchased this product!!! And it's simply amazing!!! My unit was manufactured dec 2020 a few updates. The remote was not included, its optional. I really don't need it anyways. Also the lcd power cord has a brick on the end to plug into the wall, you have to twist on the prongs for outlet. Also my cushion pad had a white sticker outlining the way to secure you xbox series s, and a sticker on the box saying it supports series. Overall this dope!!! Only thing with slim ps4 is the disc possibility hitting the unit. Prolly can raise up the ps4 a little but hey no biggie Im already considering the guardian cause my 4year old loves this. This might be a away for me to justify $600 LOL.
Haha. I'm glad they have kept improving it after all these years. I finally gave mine away after I upgraded to the Guardian. It was collecting dust and time for someone else to use it. I bought my son the Sentinel and he takes it EVERYWHERE!!!! I don't care if it's a little spendy, these cases have made gaming on the go so damn easy!!!! Exactly happened to me I was going to s hotel and I was carrying the same case and the strap came out but I was holding the case by the hand as well as it's in my shoulder so thank God it didn't fell of and my latched openes but it didn't break and after that day I never put that belt back on it I just carry it by the hand and I put small locks on the side by the clamps cause it could open up while you carrying it
Yep. I ditched the strap and only use the handle. I learned my lesson the hard way
Good case tho help me out alot when I didn't want to drag a big TV with me everywhere I'm going for a video game tournament

I've also had one of these since 2016, and it's worked out very well for me. I noticed in this video you mention several times that it's "720p upscaled to 1080p," but I think you have it backwards: it's a 720p screen that will DOWNscale 1080p content to 720p. This is fairly intuitive when you think about it: when you hook a 1080p source to this display, it shows a 720p image, so there is definitely some downscaling going on.
Very interesting. My screen keeps saying 1080p. But that's definitely interesting.
@@TelesplashGaming The screen shows whatever the resolution of the source is, but it's still a 720p display regardless. So if you have a 480p source, it will display "480p" but upscale to 720p, and if you have a 1080p source, it will display "1080p" but downscale to 720p.
Starwars Battlefront 1 ps4 or basic ps4s are always the starting point. I still have my SB1 ps4 and I still love the look of it and the controller

In short words if you have a Portable wifi then it's worth it for the Xbox one and up and PS4 and up
But for Xbox 360 and play station 3 it's more than just worth it

Hi I’m considering purchasing this exact product within the next month I am sold on the idea except for 1 thing on a different channel that did this product review, he showed how it stands with the pullout support thing on the bottom
The thing I’m worried about is I’m gonna be using this at a table,In a car on the ground in a chair,couch I want this thing to be able to stand on multiple different surfaces for example on my lap with a blanket will that work?

I've used this thing for years and I used it on a desk, coffee table, my lap and anything else you can think of. It just works. Plain and simple. A nice sturdy table or TV tray would be handy, but you'll make it work.

I currently play on a matte screen 27 inch monitor do you think I can get used to the 19 inch screen on the vanguard (I think it said 19 in the vid I might be wrong)
@@mralt7798 I think you'll get used to it. It's definitely smaller, but when you are on the go, all you think about is how awesome it is.

Telesplash Gaming thanks, I was just wondering about something. Are two power outlets required( one for vanguard and another for the console)?
Or just one( console connected to vanguard and vanguard connected to outlet)?
Leon Williams Yes, you do need 2 open outlets. One for the vanguard and one for the console. At 6:17 of the video I show a really basic outlet I bought for less than 5 dollars. It turns one outlet into 3, I use it all the time. Some hotels only have one outlet open by the tv, so this little splitter is a lifesaver.

A quick question if you don't mind. You mention you can play it while traveling. Can you plug it into your car? Will a 15 volt 150 watt power outage work?
You can, but unfortunately it won't. It has to be a pretty heavy duty power adapter.

Black Friday is today y'all and Gamestop has the gaems vanguard for $199 but the gaems sentinel comes out on the 1st of December. Its suppose to be better.
I'm gonna do a preview Monday of the Sentinel. I dont have a model, but I emailed gaems and they gave me some good info
I'm subscribe now so I look forward to it but I going to go ahead and get the vanguard system while it's on sale.
@@DIYGUY_TY I think you should. The sentinel is better, but smaller and has external pouches for your cords and controller. That alone makes travel harder because you have to pack everything separate

Just watched your video today and the same thing happened with mine. Used the strap and it came off. It was the other side but the screen and system is fine. Got some scratches, had it for 2 weeks
Sorry to hear that Logan. I'm not a big fan of the strap, so I took mine off and I've been better off without it. Other than that, it's been pretty awesome.

It's a good proce for sure. For gaming on the road, this thing is just perfect. It looks good and it keeps your system safe. I used mine for years.
Will it work for a connection on Sony 5? I recently bought it and I really hope that at least the electricity will be compatible because going in there won't be able to
It will work with the PS5 as a screen. Unfortunately, the PS5 probably won't fit inside of it though.

My friend broke off one of the plastic locks on the side of it (the thing that opens the box) is there a way to fix that? It's the plastic that's broken
I went to wal mart and bought a brass lock and screwed it on myself.

Unfortunately you can't trade physical for digital at this time.
This is why a fee years back I started buying only strictly digital off the Xbox store . There are also added benefits if you have multiple consoles you can have it on both consoles with no extra cost .

Hey TitiOrtiz. I love the MMA fighter Tito by the way haha. Ok, I also was interested in the Sentinel, but after talking to GAEMS directly and seeing it, I chose to hold off and here's why. It doesn't have room for the cords or controllers in the case itself because it is much smaller and sleeker than the Vanguard. For me, I travel and don't want to have a separate case or bag to place the pouch holding the cords and controllers in. The vanguard is a grab and go system and the Sentinel isn't quite like that. The sentinel has a better screen, but it's also smaller as well, so there's trade off. I am waiting for the Guardian Pro XP which looks to be an absolute monster. It might be spendy, but I'll be getting it to replace my vanguard. If you are using the Sentinel as a 2nd screen in your home and don't care about the pouch, I believe it's a better option than the vanguard. But, for me, it's vanguard for now until the guardian comes out. Thank you so much for watching the channel.

It does indeed get hot from a ps4 but I noticed the Xbox one s is convenient for it because the vent and fan blows upwards so it hits nothing

My screen won't turn on. I put on the plug and the blue lights just flicker and wont turn on

Idk which one it is I got it in 2012 that thing has been through the rigger but the one thing I hate about it is the brightness is maxed out but in darker games it's horrible
Ya, the brightness is definitely not it's strong point. But dang, it can take a beating.
