- During the Midnight Launch of the Sony PS4, I was frequently asked if and HOW the PS4 would work with the GAEMS Vanguard, so I decided to do a super casual, straight to the point installation guide. This was my first time installing the PS4 myself as well, so as you can see, it is extremely easy. to get your own Vanguard PGE, visit

I'm in Afghanistan and with my job I move a lot within the country. So I got this Vanguard with a PS4, it's perfect, no sand gets in and it makes traveling a breeze. I got my duffel bag, my handgun and my Vanguard case... All I need. :-) And yes it's just as easy as your video.

+Brandon Nagbe you need an inverter preferably 500w...and then it will. but remember to keep the engine running or it will drain the car bat... or get a back up computer battery... i have one, and love it...i use it at my propane dispensing business during the dead times.. another option ios along power cord & power bar and you plug in lol. ive doane that in the truck as well :D

Actually, it really is that easy. I haven't removed it since, been playing up a storm. The Vanguard and console will both needed an outlet plug. There is no portable energy source at this time.
+Jennifer tan Great, it's gonna be a rigorous quest for a power source on this one. Not to mention the inevitable battle against other outlet users when you do find one. Oh, and the pesky owner of said power outlet who might start giving you the stink eye if they feel you've overstayed your welcome.

I've been debating on picking one of these up, but I was concerned about overheating my ps4.
My PS4, now named DARTH 4, is happy in its new home. I took it with me for Thanksgiving dinner, totally WORTH IT! Played Knack with my little sister, dad watched Game Of Thrones on it, while everyone else watched dat football! Never have I had an over heating issue with any console, including my next gens.

Does the outlet plug work on airplanes? Like you know those outlets on the seats in front and on yours.
I have no TESTED answer to this, but in theory depending on the outlets on the plane it should. I have ran laptops just fine. The problem is you need TWO outlets, so you are gonna have to convince someone not to use theirs

Hi...a few questions if you don't mind. OR could you do another more indepth video? 1.) How much extra storage is there? It doest look like you have enogh room for a headset. 2.) How heavy you think this is? Im looking at getting this for a transatlantic flight. I don't want to play it on the flight but I do need to transport my ps4 to England for two weeks and searching for options. Im scared (im a small person) that maybe its gonna be heavy while trying to run for connections at the airports. I'm assuming this would count as a laptop bag, so I would have this along with my carry-on thats why Im asking about weight. Ever flown with yours?
what is the diffrence between vanguard and sentry?
The vanguard has a 19" TV, remote, strap-on and um..not sure what else, but the other one I think is 15"? And it doesn't come with the remote or strap-on, but you can buy them separately

Can u use the vanguard portably, like with no outlets... for example cold I play while im on the plane
No, ThatGTAExpert, you would need 2 outlets. One for your GAEMS Vanguard, and one for your console.
A 19" 760p monitor for 350 dollars plus some speakers and a case, that's all it is. You can get a 24c to 27" 4k monitor for 300 to 400 dollars. That's literally almost 4 times the resolution plus 5 to 8 inches. A monitor of this size and quality would cost about 60 dollars if it were made by a decent company.
I made my own and its rugged awesome and safe. I may try n sell it for $200 and if it does well I got me a lil business. Thing is it took some tinkering to mount monitor and put in power strip as well as run power cord out as well as strapping PS3 down. The elbow work will make cost increase too

Hey there, what are your picture settings on your Vanguard? No matter what I do for mine, the picture looks washed out and has a strong warm hue. For instance, usually when I set the color temperature to cool, it gives a nice blue tone. But on my Vanguard, it's an ugly green. Thanks a ton.
I'm at native 1080 and I never touch the color settings :(

Th g155 is 720 this one is 19 inch full HD
89forsakin the g155 is 1080p . It only goes 720p when running 360 or PS3 games native.

Zero. Zero Over heating Issues. The EVA Foam underneath keeps the console installed cool, the straps do NOT cover any of the ventilation slots on the consoles next gen included, the screen does not heat, and the power blocks do not either. This goes from NUMEROUS "testing" (which is really me just playing ALL DAY LONG!)

My ps4 has been in its vanguard and used daily for a year now. Nothing has overheated. As long as you are in a well ventilated area, and the console is centered, it will NOT overheat
Does it have the space to plug in the PS4 camera as well for streaming etc?
Every couple of months I run into an issue with the input where everything is plugged correctly but my console's output isn't showing up, usually it gets fixed by restarting both systems it seems like a potential problem.
Seems like a bad cable or pitched cable love.

hi jennifer, sorry im such a newb. is there a port, or a way to connect an ethernet cable to to your system while inside the case. Or if i want to play online, do I have to resort only to wifi. Thanks in advanced.
basically I travel between 4 houses a week, and I want an easy way to connect and play when Im at each house.

Response time as far as FPS? 60-70. and yes, the PS4 works with the G155 series :)

+Bedaiwi Ahmed Yes. All our products work between 100v and 240v. We do this because we like to believe in Gaming Without Borders and some countries have less stable power grids dropping to 100 and spiking into 240. Xbox is NOT capable of handling this fluctuation so game with care, PS3 and PS4 will work better internationally with power deviations.

The original mat works fine for the ps4. It's the xbox one that needs the new mat.

the Vanguard comes with its own very short HDMI cable, so you dont have cords everywhere
I imagine you can still watch DVD's and such on their? I am asking because I'm getting into trucking. I am considering the possibility of bringing my PS4 in case I have some down time. So I'm considering getting one of these things.
You can absolutely watch dvds, bluray, Netflix, hulu, anything really
That is awesome. This seems like a better thing than trying to plug and unplug it whenever I'm out of the truck. In this case I could just carry it all in one go and store away when I'm driving. Now I just need to make some money so I can get one of these. :) thanks for the tip and reply.

The GAEMS PGE Vanguard can upscale to 1080p, but is native 720. Perfect for crystal clear campaigns, and 720 really is perfect for streaming from your PGE!

if the whole point of the thing is just a portable screen...wouldn't the Hori portable ps4 screen be a better choice.....the whole point of being portable is that you can take it anywhere you want without needing an outlet...but if it still needs an outlet...the obvious choice would be a TV with decent size and resolution.....but in this video I thought since the portable screen was strapped permanently to the bag maybe it had its own power source albeit a limited gaming time....now that would be a major revolution....well I guess that's too much to hope for....if it were true then they wouldn't have invented the PS Vita
+Sebastian Michaelis Hori doesn't solve this problem, either. Their monitor is console specific and the console requires a power outlet. Period. We support all consoles with HDMI with our M155 that is USB powered like the Hori (however ours does not have the obvious lag you get with the Hori) and our Vanguard and Sentry give you space to hold necessary gear as well (Hori is just a clip on screen).

To an actual plug. Both the Vanguard, and the PS4, or any console inside, will need its own power source :)

Tawfiq Alluhaybi blow BOTH hdmi ports with compressed air. Sony released a statement saying some units were sent with debris in the HDMI port, which causes disruption. compressed air from Staples, or any store really, should fix it no problem!

the best way to use it in the car, is to get a power converter. it plugs into a cigarette outlet, and has regular wall outlets on the brick.

oof, no worries. best way to get them in, is to feed a corner into the slot, and use tweezers our pliers to pull the strap through the rest of the way :)

yes, your xbox one will fit perfectly with the addition of extended straps available through GAEMS.
It seems everything I look at says nothing about this having a battery pack. So you have to plug it in? (I just found out about this today and asked a Gamestop employee and he said it does have a battery pack. But we all know how they lie.)
it absolutely has NO battery pack. You need an outlet for the console, and one for the Vanguard separately.

I bought the Sentry version, and theres a work around with the PS3 Super Slim, the straps kinda block the disk door but its still good.

There will be no difference in hardware between the Vanguards now, and the new ones in Black. If color matters, then wait. I personally like the midnight blue. Matches my phone!

What's the difference between the Gaems Vanguard and the Gaems Sentry?

Does it fit snuggly on your tray or did you peg it to the back even if the front doesnt fit perfectly? I have a G155 and it isn't a snug fit. Pegging to the front makes it overshoot at the back, so the GAEMS doesn't close. Pegging the rear end to the PS3 Slim/Xbox 360S side of the tray makes the front overshoot but I get to close the GAEMS.
It actually fits quite snuggly. The XB1 is a little larger and needs the new pad being developed now to fit PERFECTLY, but the PS4 has no problems. I would never peg any console inside the Vanguard. If installed correctly, there is no need. make sure you are UNPLUGGING everything before closing, that might be what is causing your overshot problems :)

It comes with a warning on the screen to not store the PS4 though.. How has traveling been with a PS4 inside??
travelling has never been an issue. don't crud the case with Toro much, make sure your console us tightly secured, and you're golden. I've gone to 8 countries last year alone with it, no problems.

What insert are you using?
The insert I am using is the standard EVA foam that comes with the Vanguard. As soon as the next Gen inserts are here, I will of course switch it out to the new one.
