Great video! After doing hours and hours of research on pellet grills. The Z Grill seemed to be the best priced and a quality product. Well, I've been using my Z Grill for months now with no disappointment. My food comes out perfect. It makes me a better cook.
Had my z grills 1000E for 5 months. The ash clean out feature is really cool, making cleaning up the ashes extremely easy. To clean out the Rec Tec I still need to use an awkward Shop Vac.
Great vid, it was a balanced assessment of the smoker, I am considering buying myself one for Christmas, I'm in Auckland New Zealand . so it doesn't get very cold , We had a very cold winter one year and I could swear I saw a snow flake fall outta the sky lol
Sounds like you have a very different winter than what we get up here in the Midwest US. It's in the 20's F today, and I'm about to go outside and shoot a video on an outdoor pizza oven. I think I live in the wrong area for this channel, lol.
@@TheBarbecueLab Jesus H, Ive been around a while and never experienced that sort of cold, I purchased a Z smoker griller yesterday and have a half brisket in it as I type . Only feeding 3, its around 77f and 80% humidity outside. I know where id rather be, lol Good luck with that and stay cool, That's probably a given, Cheers
Having watched both this review and your review of the Pit Boss 1150 Navigator, would love to know which one you'd pick? Both are pretty much the same price in Australia, and looking at getting one this weekend.
If I were you, I think I'd look at the feature set differences between the two to make my decision. Do you want the cabinet below the cooker like the ZGrills offers? Do you like the larger cooking chamber that the Pit Boss has? Does the ZGrills having multiple levels of shelves that are customizable and changeable speak to you? How about the pellet hopper capacity? How do you feel about the Pit Boss having an app you can work with when you're not right in front of the grill? I think those answers could help fuel your decision since those are what I see as the major differences between the two units. When it comes down to how they cook, they're both very similar. Pellet smokers are essentially a hopper, controller, auger, fire pot and cooking chamber with legs. These two don't have widely differing tech in any of those categories, so it really comes down to the feature set in my opinion.

They all have their pluses and minuses, so it really all comes down to what best suits you and your cooking style. We have a review on the Traeger Ironwood 885 coming on Friday, and I think that will be a helpful comparison.
The Z Grill 1000E is a horrible design... The lid does not conform to the barrel... The lid has bigger gaps than the Grand canyon running along the sides...Another flaw in the design is the removable Ash pan from the back...you lose a ton of heat and smoke because of the gaps on the side of the lid and you also lose a ton of heat and smoke because of the removable Ash pan that is not sealed off... I used to be a distributor for Z grills and they are impossible to work with and their customer service totally sucks ,there is a huge language barrier!

The Z Grills does not have a pellet dump on this model.
