from his effortless wordplay, the great and deep use of samples, the multilayered way of making album across all his personas of characters, there will never be one like him. R.I.P MF DOOM.
The fun thing about MF DOOM is that if you're waiting for the hook, you'll be waiting forever. He's there to drop off a sick rhyme, and leave you a confused mess. And you'll love it.
The first song on the album is called “Beef Rap”, this song is like 4th or 5th on the album. This song is one of my favorites from DOOM, but my all time favorite song from him is “Crosshairs” from “The Mouse and The Mask” album that he collaborated with DangerMouse. The combination of the two makes the artist, DangerDoom.
MF DOOM IS INFINITE AND ETERNAL❗️❗️❗️ Seriously, thank you for this… We all know MF DOOM has a cult following like the artists named previously… His flow or lack there of is superb, it keeps you engaged… There should be college curriculum written about his sampling techniques… He’s one of the guys that made Hip-Hop absolutely better for all… LONG LIVE GLORIOUS SUPERVILLIANY❗️❗️❗️
Tyler’s first album samples that part of the Cortex song you guys said was perfect for sampling. Surely in homage of / influenced by DOOM. Keep up the great videos!
I have a hard time saying Madvilliany is my favorite DOOM album because its just as much Madlib's as it is DOOM's. This song is also produced by Madlib. Love anything either one of them has touched.
One thing your missing where a lot of the samples are from in the track is the fact that the album version has a 2 minute outro skit which has been cut from the official video it's where the UN meating sample is used, DOOM is notorious for doing skits using cartoon and TV samples especially from the fantastic 4 cartoon On a side note since you mentioned the gorillaz they did a song with DOOM called November has come it's definitely worth a listen
MF DOOM became/ Dr Doom when his brother was killed and he hated the industry thus Victor Von Doom/ vigilante who was against the industry which he makes a mockery of brothas selling out to the rap game.
I'm not gonna lie, I had trouble getting into this tune. There's just a lot going on and so much story/back-story that I feel like I need to do a lot of research before listening again. I like the look into the samples section - that's a great addition to your reaction videos.
DOOM is extremely complex. His persona is what you need to understand. He is actually DOOM personified. If you watch DOOM cartoons as I did, he is a genius. How does he intertwine himself and DOOM. He is the epitome of artistry and takes you for a ride. An open mind and knack for intellectual qualities for lyrics in the highest form is what's needed before you get into him and his personas
Old school rapper like a lot of Black families had moms or pops with a deep record collection that would be going all night on the weekends. When you grow up to this music it is not as hard to find a beat and couple that with Black families who had musical and professional backgrounds.
I’m 95% sure Madlib produced this and not DOOM, But with that being said DOOM was definitely one of the most underrated producers ever, he also has a song with Gorillas called November has come. If you want pure DOOM beats his special herbs volumes is some of the biggest gems in Hip Hop. Really enjoyed this video lads keep it up
@@BandHouseStudios you are correct it's one of like 3 songs on the album not produced by DOOM, madlib's rapper ego is even in the video the yellow dude is quasimoto aka madlib
@@BandHouseStudios madlib and MF DOOM have an entire album together called madvillany it's considered by many to be the best album in DOOM'S discography
Can you do this format with the song Night Of The Living Baseheads by Public Enemy? It's from 1988, that time was pretty much the peak of sampling in Hip Hop.
@@BandHouseStudios cool, if you wanna catch all samples make sure you don't watch the music video. It's amazing and I recommend seeing it afterwards, but it got it's own storyline and is kinda distracting from the music.
love these doom reactions, i would listen to can i watch from the artist viktor vaugh (one of DOOMS alter egos) details the story of a relationship with guest artist apani b.
I think you guys would really like one of my favorite song creators his name is Brock Berrigan his music is very interesting his samples are very unique. You can pick any of his albums but I really like Point Pleasant, The Scenic Route, and his latest album Kindred Spirits. Hope you can at-least check him out.
You should give Danny Browns masterpiece Atrocity Exhibition a listen. I've never heard a project that has lyrics and music that reflect the artists condition like these do. It can be hard to listen to as its disorientating and Danny is so open and vulnerable that I don't know how to feel when its over. Makes me realize I'm watching a person self destruct but he's funny so I laugh. Overall it's just a super well done album. If you're interested in samples and sampling there is nothing better than the 1989 Dust Brothers/Beastie Boys produced album Paul's Boutique. It's thought to have 300+ samples. Each song samples between 10 and 25 unique artists. It's a high water mark for sampling and pop culture references. Considering it was recorded to tape its an impressive album.
yall getting deep... this is what they would call NY ..HIP HOP... .../.. you see there is a difference between RAP and HIP HOP... the beats and lyrics..... NO THIS TRACK IS NOT A freestyle

Straight-forward setups and punchlines are a little too simplistic for DOOMs style of lyricism. He preferred to say more using less words, reminiscent of modernist poetry.

Also RIP to his brother and son

Create digging for samples is another artform in itself, with MF Doom you get it all

I think the best descriptor I heard relating to MF DOOM, was that 'he's your favourite rappers favourite rapper'.
Yeah!

3:40, same, love the honesty - chuckled.

You should watch a video called "Sample Breakdown: J. Dilla - Don’t Cry" by Tracklib, it has some of the best sampling of any song
