This video takes place in Vietnam. I had a stranger plan my adventure in depth. I saw Exotic culture, ate interesting foods and made friends. It was a wonderful opportunity.

Given the horrors we wreaked on Vietnam during the war I am always amazed and pleased how friendly and kind the Vietnamese people are to Americans now. They should be mad, but they arent. What a lovely people they are.

That is because they defeated us. I watched the Ken Burns documentary on the Vietnam war . Their victory over the U.S. and colonialism is a source of monumental pride, not lingering resentment.
Because they liberated themselves, they don't have the historical sore spot that Korea has towards Imperial Japan (e.g., Yasukuni Shrine). America had the sore spot and for decades we tried to suppress their economy out of spite. I'm very glad to see Vietnam's economy -- they have one of the fastest growing economies in the world.

@@user-iy6rm6pm4jwe are Vietnamese, we have a motto of punishing the evils and treating humans well. Wars have gone, if we hadn’t fought, how could we maintain our country now? By the way , welcome to Vietnam. 🎉

Thank you so much for this video. My experience in Vietnam was decidedly different. (1969, 'nuf said). I thought the countryside, mostly mountain, briefly seaside along highway one, was incredibly beautiful. I'm so glad you shared your experience with the people, food, and culture.

I had friends that returned from Vietnam in 1969/1970, they couldn't believe a country so beautiful would be having a conflict.
Every Vietnam war movie I watched did not show the beautiful beaches or countryside. If they did, I guess it wouldn't be a good war movie.

Ethan, your video makes me want to go visit so bad!! I'm talking to my son right now to see if this is a place where he'd be interested in going. Your videos and commentary are perfect, and it looks very exciting. I follow quite a few youtubers, but since I found you are by far my favorite. Not ONLY because you're as cute as a button lol, but you're more down to Earth than some of the others. This is for sure a location that my son and I would like to visit. Please keep doing what you're doing. You are a beautiful young man, and we appreciate all that you do. Love you, from beautiful Tulsa, OK.

Went to Vietnam last September. I had bad experience with every Grab and Taxi.Ripped off dropped at wrong places Grab cancelling saying I was not at pick up just rip off scammers. Then decided to book cars through the hotel and was so much better. Found the people fantastic and always willing to help made me feel welcome. The Traffic i was told walk briskly do not run do not stop do not go back. I made it. The water dragon yes I am polish heritage and for that to be gas would I let a little wee out. Wish I spent more time in Hoi An and definitely regret not going to a tailor and getting some clothes. I chose to go to Japan and Korea (yes south) Bali and Malaysia for the next few months. Then Thailand and Vietnam from September. Great video again so down to earth and real, the language promo a bonus. Thank you🙏👍

I visited Vietnam 5 years ago and was worried about the food beforehand so I was delighted to find some of the best tasting food I've ever eaten and freshest by far anywhere ...literally every meal was prepared after a visit to the open air markets. The french baguette sandwiches are one of the best things I found as well as Pho. I also ate close to 35-40 different fruits I never knew existed only one did I frown upon heavily being Durian which smells like rotten fermenting garbage, and is overpoweringly sickeningly sweet. The best fruit I had while there was hands down the mangosteen...i find myself still craving it over 5 years later. I was astonished by the low cost of everything but especially the food and accommodations. The Vietnamese are by far the friendliest genuine people I have met. The sandy beaches of Mui Ne with palm trees to the waterline reminded me of Waikiki only with a 1960's pricetag. I returned home with some of the finest and best jasmine tea in the world. First class on a beer budget best describes my experience. Not to mention a whole new wardrobe of custom made hand tailored shirts and pants. Go if you can!

I went to the Philippines 25 years ago, and they too use lots of horn honking. I also noticed the right of way was usually given to the most aggressive horn honker. Additionally, no one stops when the light turns red. The other side that has the green just waits until there is enough space to block off the oncoming traffic. Surprisingly, I didn't see any crashes while I was there.

another great travel video. yes, Vietnam has become another destination for expats and HCMC looks awesome. I believe that there are some other vacation spots along the coast and hopefully you can make it on over to those other places. also, you may notice some French heritage with its prior history with France and I think some people there can speak French. The last thing is the overall influence of the Chinese culture as over the centuries from time to time people from China would leave China due to certain regimes and they would immigrate to other nations such as Vietnam, Thailand, Philippines, Japan and Korea to name a few. There is tons of history in this part of the world and I will confess that I am very very attracted to the guys who are from this part of the world. Cannot wait for more videos like this and from other oriental nations. Thank you Ethan.

It was a bit more rainy for me, but same sites, same hospitality, same food, same beaches, same cheap food, same amazing beach, same excitement of Vietnam. Before this, I thought Philippines was the most welcoming people, but after my trip to Vietnam, I felt like those two nationalities were equality duking out for most genuinely smiley, tourist welcoming ,and major sight seeing attraction countries.

Hi Ethan. As someone who is considering an unstructured trip to southeast Asia, I found this video of yours fascinating. I loved the way you integrated your online expert into your decision-making and then went to the recommended place or area. Also, your activities, camera-work and commentary were really interesting, helpful, and down-to-earth. The one thing I would have preferred is if you had provided more info on costs of items (the suit, food items, etc.) I realize that too much talk of price might weigh down the video, but personally I would enjoy more of it than you did here. Anyway, thanks so much and best wishes in Vietnam.

Nice viedeo as always Ethan. Your question, why everyone wears a jacket on his motorbike is easy to answer: It is to protect the skin of the forearms from the sun, to avoid sunburn. No matter how hot it is, asian people don't expose their skin to sunlight. They don't want to get tanned either. Meanwhile I do the same, whenever I ride a motobike in SE asia. On long trips even with gloves for the same reason.
