That lens is incredible.. the TC is Great also because it’s native elements it’s not like a TC you add that could degrade image quality ..that was engineered to keep it sharp and clean at both focal lengths ..I tried it out in time square or all places. Really beautiful stuff
Great Video! I have the same lens as well, I replaced the lens Feet with the RRS Foot, (LCF-22), and purchased the C-PL460 Filter, if you use a Peak Design Camera Strap, adding anchors to the lens is a must. I've added additional items such as the Kase Filters and magnetic Lens Cap, unfortunately, I really haven't had the chance to take the Lens on an outing yet, but will be taken it to Alaska on my next vacation.
I shot British GT at Silverstone on my trusty 300mm f/2.8 this weekend and my old D500 with nearly 300k clicks on it. I am still blown away by what that combo can do. I wasn't accredited for the race and would have felt a bit weird bringing my 500mm f/4G, but I certainly wasn't disappointed with the results. That said, I'd love to give the new 400mm f/2.8 Z a try. I'd just be absolutely sick if I damaged the front element or something like that
The new Detroit track is not as easy to get around as Belle Isle but good sight lines! I’m about to make the move on that 400mm before football season starts! 😭
The way we buy the lens changed a lot. Last time in Stone Age, we went to the shop along with our camera, buying a 50/1.4. @ $140. We tested 3, and bought one. Now, a $14,000 lens, we buy it from a phone.
I’m wondering how’s the balance of the camera-lens ensemble. I happened to shoot with the old 400 2.8 (15-20 years ago) and it was a much heavier lens than the modern ones, really difficult to use handheld (just for panning). I noticed that it was easier to use mounted on the big heavier pro body than on a prosumer one. It was really better balanced, since the front lens is huge and heavy and it had no enough “counterbalance” so to speak. I suspect these lenses are designed with the new pro mirrorless in mind...
Re: sponsorship: I’d open up a membership feature via TH-cam when you can to get folks to support the channel and vlogs. Cheers! Hopefully I’ll see you at Watkins this year?

Can’t wait to play with it.
I thought you shot Canon. Glad to see a Nikon lens in your hands though! Love my Z8.
I can’t wait to see the photos coming out of this lens.
Did you got the Z9 and Z8?
How do you like to Z8?
Hey! 😊 you have my lens, LOL 😂
I'm looking forward to viewing photos taken with this lens...
My favorite part of this whole video is the DBZ shirt that you chose to rock 🤘🥳
Thanks 😂
I've enjoyed your work for a long time, especially Formula 1 and IMSA. Thanks for the great photos!
Thank you!!
Absolute GOAT lens. Congratulations!! Hope you're loving it.
Can’t wait to see the images you make with that
I enjoy seeing your trackside exploits, I might never get to that level but it does make me want to shoot better. Have fun breaking in the new glass!

Great vlog. Waiting for my Z 400mm f2.8 and z600mm f4 lenses to arrive. Using F mount versions on my Z9 cameras

I’m excited to go.

I can recommend lens coats for big glass really does limit body wear and protects the finish
The photos are gonna be so fire, cannot wait to see the work you put out with it.
What an unreal bit of glass! Excited to see the shots that you get with that beast
That's what I figured it would be. Still amazes me nobody makes a 500f/4 mirrorless yet.
But now you don’t need it with a 400 with a built in TC.
@@jameypricephoto True, I’ll be hanging onto to 500 for a long time. With the technology they could make a 500 featherweight in the Z mount.
Looking forward to seeing some pictures!
Me too!
I feel your favorite part of that lens is going to be the weight, especially when lugging it up and down Mulsanne
I loved the unboxing video! Hopefully we can see more in the future ❤
I hope so too!
Nice video mate, looks like some nice glass there. 😮❤
its so beautiful! I cannot wait to see some photos!
Please do a Fast frames episode on the 'through the trees shot' you took at the nurburgring 24hrs race I think? Its incredible.
Can't wait for the pictures from this setup. It has to be fun to shoot with. :D
Me too. Can’t wait.
So happy for you it’s a beast of a lens looking to get my first telephoto soon…😆
Dream lens!
Congratulations Jamey, please do a point of view from Miami GP
Unfortunately f1 has crazy restrictions on videography :(
Expensive, but it's a tool that will pay for itself. Very nice, not jealous at all! 😉🤣👍🍻
I have the same 500, the weight reduction will be nice hauling it around.

Absolutely love mine
that shirt is awesome!!!
It's so sexy lens, wish the most beautiful images get out from this lens.😊
hey Jamey you ever look into HM1 Monopod Tilt Head ? look it up when you have time
Did you go to Z8 or Z9?
Does Green Park count was wildlife photography?
that shirt is incredible
I had to have it when I saw it 😂
@@jameypricephoto Based on an anime called "Capeta"! Great video, too bad I can't justify a 400mm 2.8 for wedding photography LOL!
Impressive piece of glass. Only the packaging for a 14k piece of kit is somewhat minimal/
That’s Leica M prices for lenses. For $14K you think Nikon would have better packaging.
Places like... California. Sadly, ...you're not wrong. 😥
😅😂
Daft question. Are you using the supplied lens cap when carrying this lens in a backpack, when flying?
@@chrisvalford no. But I carry it in a “felt lined” case. So the front element is protected anyway.
Re: sponsorship: I’d open up a membership feature via TH-cam when you can to get folks to support the channel and vlogs. Cheers! Hopefully I’ll see you at Watkins this year?
I’m not to the level of watch hours where I can monetize. But hopefully soon.
@@jameypricephoto I figured that might be the case, I’ll sub as soon as you enable it!
@@heyderekp hopefully soon. I need less than 1000 more watch hours to be eligible.
@@jameypricephoto Guess I'll watch more of your videos then. :)
@@heyderekp I’m now under 200 watch hours before I can monetize. So watch away. 😂
your shirt is an 11/10
Thought it was pretty cool
I settle with my 200-500 f5.6. 14K yeah sure😅
How much did that lens cost?
A couple pesos.
What did you end up doing with the box after you opened it?
Let the kids paint on it. 😂
That’s a great lens, but you know your Jeff Gordon point and shoot film camera makes better art. 😜
how as its lighter you get those panning shot way way lower
Lighter doesn’t mean easier to pan. Actually the wind / breeze effects it more because it’s lighter. We’ll see.
A box? They sent it in a box? For that price it should come in a Pelican case.
Are you selling the old lens?
Traded it in. Gone. Farewell ☹️
The S means super expensive 😂
😂😂😂😅
Can't wait
will you put an ND filter on it to shield the glass?
There is no ND that will fit that front element. It has a drop in CPL that goes into the barrel.
Do people actually make a living from shooting F1 photos, aside from selling workshops?
400 x 1.4 = 560
Math was never my strong suit. Apologies.
$14k precision made glass tool, delivered in the same box as a microwave.
Funny.. the guy that’s all about not promoting gear brands unless being paid makes a whole TH-cam video about a lens. Hypocritical 🙂.
Maybe just MAYBE there is something to this? Why don’t you use your big brain and see if you can connect the dots.
