This.....marks my very FIRST....one and only......never EVER before accomplished (until today) subscription to a TH-cam Channel. And I am ever so proud to say this for Justin Scarred / Randomland. I love, love, love to watch your video bloggy thingys and I am so glad you haven't given up your dream of making videos despite what others have negatively commented.
Before Dole sponsored The Enchanted Tiki Room, that stand used to sell "Tiki Punch." This was a pink fruit punch that I'm sure was Disney's own secret recipe. For my part, I really enjoyed it and since I don't care for pineapple, the change was not a happy one for me. If I only I had been standing in Adventureland the day you filmed this and you could have pointed and said, "He remembers... he remembers." Take care, Justin, I only recently discovered your channels and am really enjoying them.
That thing on top of the Adventureland sign was actually an animatronic parrot that would get people to the Tiki Room. You also didn't notice Uti, a tiki above the Dole whip stand that is now gone. She fell victim to dry rot and fell off the roof in 2000, and was never replaced.
I know I've said it before but I really love the way you've been editing the vlogs recently. Can really tell they take some effort. Excited for more then & now videos!
The figure up on top of the Adventureland sign was a lesser form of animatornic puppet. It was controlled by a cast member who had a view of the bridge from near the Tikiroom ticket stand. The puppet could be turned and its mouth and eyes could be opened and closed. The cast member could talk to the people from speakers as they entered the land. It tended to cause a backup as people would stop to hear what the puppet would say. Very entertaining. I don't remember how long the act remained, but I think it was there until the early 70s.
i totally remember those donald duck hats and the bill of the hat squeeked when you oinched it LOL. above the old adventure sign there use to be a monkey that would talk to guests but they took it out cause people would stop and it would totally crowed the enterence. at least thats what my mom told me, cause it was before my time i was born in 1966.
Note in the old photos the way people are dressed -- they're not dressed for a backyard beer blast or beach day. People had self-esteem to not look like schlubs in public.
Today I was looking for comparative photographs between the past disneyland and the present disneyland, I loved your video, this is just what I was looking for!
Awesome comparing the then and now photos! can't wait for the next set! Also glad to hear that the "Douchebagian" at the Wigwams made things right, guess he realized that a negative review, experience, etc.. thats out there for billions of people to see isn't worth $400. Keep em coming Justin!
This is the first video of yours that I saw a couple weeks ago and I just watched the first two Wigwam videos today! Please keep uploading these videos and vlogs, they make my entire day!
Love the Disneyland Then & Now pics! I really hope you continue to share these with us. I am in MI and have only been to Disneyland once, and for only one day, but I've really enjoyed looking at how much the park has changed!
the only reason why I keep going to Disneyland very often cause of your videos. always looking forward to see all the cool things you talk on your videos.
Ok, where to start? In the early 60's when I was a kid the rockets were on the ground not elevated and there was no People Mover and no arcade. There wasn't anything sold at the Tiki Room. Nope, no Dole Whip. Jose' the parrot would talk to guests walking by to get them to come see the show. He would also tell them it was AIR CONDITIONED inside. Well worth using a ticket just for that! Tomorrowland also had the flying sausers which were popular.
I think that was a shrunken head over the entry to Adventureland. The talking parrot "Barker" was on the side telling people to come in to see the show in the Tiki Room. They did not used to have a food service at the Tiki Room before the Dole Whip (maybe a popcorn vendor)
My favorite memory from Disneyland was either in late 1999 or the very early 2000s. It was the first time Disneyland was going to revamp Fantasmic and they had to close down the Rivers of America. Instead of putting up the usual barrier saying "We're imagineering something new for you!" They put up a white picket fence and had Tom Sawyer and Becky asking people if they wanted to white wash the fence. Even as a kid I found that both hilarious and brilliant.
I'm probably about the same age as Mr. Vinci and also had one of those Donald Duck hats that my parents bought for me during a late-60s visit. Donald's bill had a squeaker thingie in it, so if you squeezed it, the hat would quack! I'm happy that Wigwam Proprietor Dude paid back the surprise video fee. You handled your complaint with class and it was good of him to follow through. Please keep doing what you do!
There was no fence! I have a photo also in the 70s. I'm so glad to hear you got a refund from that horrible Wigwam Motel... So sad they had to be such schisters! But you never got the $400 filming charge back?!
super fun....Love the photos...I hope mine sent well in email. Glad you 4 had a nice dinner, that was good he refunded you. The sometimes mob, and the "coconut wireless" sure works in mysterious ways. Awesome!
I could be wrong but as a kid I don't remember anything being sold once in line for the tiki room. If anything it would've sold to the main walkway to adventure land. Once redesigned this could account for the roof change to the Dole stand. Glad to hear things worked out in the wig wam flim flam. Lol
So glad to hear about the refund, and hooray for Tortilla Jo's! I still want to try it sometime. The then and now thing is super fun, too. It makes me remember cool things I'd forgotten about the Disneyland of my childhood. :)
loving the "then and now" videos. great idea and great examples of the massive changes to Disney. also glad you got your money back and the owner was stand up about it after what happened.
if only your flux capacitor was not broken you could go back and check out Disney Land then. We hope your planning on doing a version of this for Walt Disney World Magic Kingdom next time your there
@ 10:19 It's a ducking conspirisy!!! @ 17:30 The last time I was in Disneyland was 1978. I'll have to see if I can dig up some pics. I remember having a cheap camera, but I don't know where the pics are... @ 12:12 And everyone lived happily, ever, after...
Awesome look back. Although there have been changes since I first went in 89 it's still great. I just need to find a better time to go instead of June, to busy for me.
I have the same shirt as Alex cool! I always enjoy the filming of the ambience shots. So what I'm saying really enjoyed watching all the people walking around in Disneyland at the end.
Justin, also the ADVENTURE LAND entrance arch looks like they have raised the entrance up higher today than back in the picture. Go back and look at the comparisons in the video.
Nice. This is why I love this channel[s], Memories! I have a souvenir book from 1975 (pictures were obviously taken late 60s-early 70s) that I got when I was 4. One of the only things I've kept after all these years. I actually prefer to see personal photos people took at Disneyland back in the day because I have similar photos of me :D
So glad to hear all our reviews and calls worked. Glad you got your money back and maybe now either he will not do that again(seen the error of his ways) , or people will read the reviews and not get ripped off.
Thanks for the Disneyland nostalgia Justin. I knew Disneyland in the 60's, 70's and 80's. Unfortunately, I don't have any photos so this vid is a nice memory trigger.
Really enjoy the before and after! Great job with all the great details! I know they are probably take a little more time but they are interested and great! Thanks "J" man!! Keep em coming.
I'm surprised Kumar (as I have read on the reviews that his name is) decided to be intimidated enough to give him said refund XD He seemed to be having a bad high that day XD
ur comment made me laugh out loud cause i just read kumars review replys on yelp and he literally claims that almost everyone who leaves a bad review is "drunk or high as a kite" (according to kumar) which makes me lol cause thats precisely what a drug user would say XD it also didn't help that everyone claimed his office smelled like weed.
+Lacy Freebanks I particularly loved that, when someone mentioned that the office smelled like weed, his logical conclusion was to accuse the person of hating disabled people!
wasnt somewhere in the area of the adventureland where the original house from the property stood? I remember something about it being moved a while ago.
Justin love your videos!! My 5 year old daughter and I watch them everyday and we are catching up on the old ones...Keep up the great work...And uh yeah your girl is very pretty!!!👍👍
I went to Disneyland in August and he walked right past my mom right after my cousin and I went in Tarzan's Treehouse. I should have waited a minute or two to go into Tarzan's Treehouse.
While I love that he refunded your money it still makes me mad that he was able to edit and delete a-lot of his reply's on Yelp.... That man is such a sneaky SOB.
I've never been to a Disney park in my life but I feel like if I were to go, I'd instantly be so familiar with Disneyland just from these vlogs. Weeeeeeird.
I love King Arthur's Carrousel, too (did my avatar give me away?), and screamed like a schoolgirl when I first saw Disneyland's Sword in the Stone (I had previously only been to Disney World...where it had been removed and broke my little-girl heart). Is it the same Stone and Sword? Do we have photos to compare? Hmm...
At 21:22 when he says the you can go home and schleep well and you hear them clapping in the background it sounds like they are clapping for him saying that
Justin would you be excited if they were to update the Fantasyland dark rides with new technology? i.e. New animatronics using the technology that Radiator Springs Racers and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train uses

That is way cool, and I think I remember that drink???
Tiki Tiki Tiki Room Punch :)
Congrats on the refund. Glad that guy eventually did the right thing.
The internet is a marvelous tool, isn't it?
InDEED
That thing on top of the Adventureland sign was actually an animatronic parrot that would get people to the Tiki Room. You also didn't notice Uti, a tiki above the Dole whip stand that is now gone. She fell victim to dry rot and fell off the roof in 2000, and was never replaced.
Funny, I had no memory of a tiki being there! Thanks for the info, love learning new things about Disneyland!
kidgun it's sometimes in the area in great moments with mr. Lincoln on display
I know I've said it before but I really love the way you've been editing the vlogs recently. Can really tell they take some effort. Excited for more then & now videos!
LOL about the cologne spraying--😆!!!
*Still loving the "Then and Now" segments! 👍
I love your "Then & Now" segments!!! Please keep 'em comin'!
Where else can you get a tour of the inside of a Disneyland locker? Amazing! And he rest was pretty good too, I guess.
Love how you were able to line up the then & now Disneyland photos👍🏻😃😎
I'm really enjoying these Then and Now episodes!

The wig wam owner didnt realize that Justin is a big TH-cam star with a lot of followers.
Loving the then and now stuff! And also the sped up shots of you walking long distances are oddly satisfying lol. Keep up the great work!!
Today I was looking for comparative photographs between the past disneyland and the present disneyland, I loved your video, this is just what I was looking for!

Your videos are better than most travel TV shows
I think you found your niche Justin this is gold!
i see this new "this and now" a new spin off for its own youtube series!!!!! really great idea!
This is the first video of yours that I saw a couple weeks ago and I just watched the first two Wigwam videos today! Please keep uploading these videos and vlogs, they make my entire day!
The ending in the locker had me cackling 😂😂😂
I just came back from the Philippines today I am so excited to get my Disney douce tommorow before I go to school
I'm loving these then and now videos. Keep it up Justin and thanks for sharing all the weeeeeird things you see.
23:34 I like my home. I LIKE MY HOME!!!!! X D
The build up. The climax! This humor. This is why we love you!
Love the Disneyland Then & Now pics! I really hope you continue to share these with us. I am in MI and have only been to Disneyland once, and for only one day, but I've really enjoyed looking at how much the park has changed!
They really need to put the Astro Orbiter and People Mover back in their original spots.
Alex Chipman the people mover has been closed for a long time.
My mom bought and kept a pair of ivory earrings she got from adventure land in the 60s .
I remember those Duck hats Justin, I even think if you squeezed the bill it made a quack like noise.
Your Disney Vids are always on point bro! "Thumbs Up"
Really missed these kind of videos from you. Your videos on the history of Disneyland was the reason I first started following you.
the only reason why I keep going to Disneyland very often cause of your videos. always looking forward to see all the cool things you talk on your videos.

Glad to have met you yesterday Justin. Keep up the vids and excited to what you have coming in the future.

"oh its on your face.." "where it should be!" lmao
My favorite part 😂👍🏻
Tyler's a dirty boy! =P
There was no fence! I have a photo also in the 70s. I'm so glad to hear you got a refund from that horrible Wigwam Motel... So sad they had to be such schisters! But you never got the $400 filming charge back?!
Leaving for Disney this morning and this gem is my wake-up. Ty Justin!! Love ya and glad things are working out for you.
The Tiki Room without Dole Whips? That is... Weeeeird.
Dole Whip, I think, didn't exist until the 90's.
CraziFuzzy I was making a joke based off one of Justin's catchphrases "Weeeeird"
Yeah, well aware of his phrase - but you'd be surprised how many people think dole whip has been a part of disneyland forever.
CraziFuzzy Before today, I was one of those people.
I can't get enough of this marvelous Before and After! Thanks!
super fun....Love the photos...I hope mine sent well in email.
Glad you 4 had a nice dinner, that was good he refunded you.
The sometimes mob, and the "coconut wireless" sure works in mysterious ways.
Awesome!
Awesome video! It is so neat to see all those vintage photos and to see how much the park has changed.
Also, not only have we witnessed the rise of Randomland Adventures but also that sweet sweet Super Nintendo-esque music.
This was really neat, I'd love to see more then & now Disneyland pics :)
I could be wrong but as a kid I don't remember anything being sold once in line for the tiki room. If anything it would've sold to the main walkway to adventure land. I remember the Donald Duck caps. They would squeak when you pinched the bill!
So glad to hear about the refund, and hooray for Tortilla Jo's! I still want to try it sometime. The then and now thing is super fun, too. It makes me remember cool things I'd forgotten about the Disneyland of my childhood. :)

You realize the $66 is for Route 66, right?
I have the same shirt as Alex cool! I always enjoy the filming of the ambience shots. So what I'm saying really enjoyed watching all the people walking around in Disneyland at the end.
I really love these now and then episodes 🙌🏼Disneyland history is the best
Justin, also the ADVENTURE LAND entrance arch looks like they have raised the entrance up higher today than back in the picture. Go back and look at the comparisons in the video.
Love this - I watched the construction of Disneyland old footage on YT earlier so this ties in nicely. Really interesting 😊
Awesome family photos. Good on the folks for sharing with Justin.
i am guessing United was selling flights to Hawaii in the Tiki Room
Nice. This is why I love this channel[s], Memories! I have a souvenir book from 1975 (pictures were obviously taken late 60s-early 70s) that I got when I was 4. I have notifications turned on for this channel, so the first second you upload, I'm on it! Thanks Justin!
Happy to hear the issue was resolved!
yay to the sometimes mob for getting you a refund!!!
:)
I'm surprised Kumar (as I have read on the reviews that his name is) decided to be intimidated enough to give him said refund XD He seemed to be having a bad high that day XD

Or they were the ones being abusive XD
THANK YOU!!! Super Love the vintage fun pics!!! And appreciate you explaining them to us!!! Hoping i can find some to send to you.
I really like these then and now videos. I will have to dig through my moms old photos.
"What the heckity barberdoodle." I don't curse and I can't wait to use that as my next fake curse word.
wasnt somewhere in the area of the adventureland where the original house from the property stood? I remember something about it being moved a while ago.
Justin love your videos!! My 5 year old daughter and I watch them everyday and we are catching up on the old ones...Keep up the great work...And uh yeah your girl is very pretty!!!👍👍
I went to Disneyland in August and he walked right past my mom right after my cousin and I went in Tarzan's Treehouse. I should have waited a minute or two to go into Tarzan's Treehouse.
I really miss the Randomland intro! Keep up the awesome work dude.
Glad you got a refund from an unnecessary fee. Kumar messed with the wrong guy. I think the odd $66 extra stands for Route 66. ;)
this is one of my favorite new videos. ..love the theme with the vintage photos
Love your Then & Now! Interested in following up with some at Disney World when you go on your FL trip??
Love the Walk Walk song!!! Second only to the My Dad...Christmas song
While I love that he refunded your money it still makes me mad that he was able to edit and delete a-lot of his reply's on Yelp.... That man is such a sneaky SOB.
Does anybody remember a TV special that Disneyland aired to hype the Fantasyland remodel? I think the little girl from Poltergeist was on it.
Hi Justin, More old new overlays I loved it! Gratz on the refund.
I enjoyed the photos and comparisons and such! How about old photos of you as a kid at Disneyland?
I like the Disneyland now and then. it's cool to see the park from way back when.
Wait a few years, Justin. You’ll have a very good opportunity to utilize the old photos. You’re doing a great job with them too!
"THE POWER OF THE COBRA!!!!"
Good job. Keep up the good work . I want to go back to Disneyland again someday.
It's all coming around full circle, loved it!!!
I've never been to a Disney park in my life but I feel like if I were to go, I'd instantly be so familiar with Disneyland just from these vlogs. Weeeeeeird.
I go once a month but everytime I go I feel like I've just been because of the vlogs
at 8:55 I swear that was Lavern from the Lavern and Shirley show.
lol@that ending. "Lemme out!!! LEMME OUT!!!!"
The Then & Now comparison is genius! Glad your homies got yer back and compelled the Wigwam dude to refund ya.
Hmm...
I remember those Donald Duck hats!?! I wanted one too! I think I went there in 1980-82 and seeing fantasy land looking like that.
So many changes!😂 love you Justin!! You always put a smile on my face!!!
