In my opinion you are spot on here! I have straight switch but I used it for screening and edge. The deer absolutely use it to walk up the edge but very rarely bed in it.
I'm really nervous about spraying some old pasture ground in the fall to kill off grasses as erosion in our area can be really bad, especially on the hills I am planting. Should I just wait till spring and plan to spray more? Should I spray and then consider a cover crop of some type?
I have watched you videos on switchgrass. I prepared 2 different field areas this summer and it is currently bare dirt. I was wanting to frost seed switchgrass this winter. Problem is, both areas are not flat and on side of hill. With all the rain/snow, it has been eroding. My question is how do I frost seed switchgrass on side of a hill and not get it washed away before it gets established? Would waiting til spring to drill it in work better? I don’t have a drill, but can rent one. Thanks for your time.
I tell people to do it right before a heavy snow if possible. If there currently is snow, i like less than 2-3" of snow to frost seed on top. I prefer dormant seeding late November or early December instead of a late frost seed.

Genetics seems to be a predominant aspect of switch grass seed. Do you have a few to recommend?
