I bought a 4 series with a stolen interior and all the wires were cut instead of taken out. It was a headache understanding which wire goes into which terminal. I got told by many electricians that they won't touch it so I learned how to solder and did it all myself. I remember my car looking like yours but it gets better and the learning experience is totally worth it. Keep up the good work!
Looks like they stole this R8 V10+ for external parts only after dismantling all the internal computers so that Audi HQ cant disable it remotely. Keep going, you are doing better than anyone else could. It's a gem of a car, and will be again.

The thick wire you mention coming from the battery area just screws onto the plastic flap that you pull down to access the battery. It won't be your problem. I have a photo if you need it.

The fibre optic cable is for the sound it. It would most likely go into the back of the head unit. in a BMW it would plug into the big terminal and the terminal would plug into the head unit

I mentioned this on the first video. If Dee watched that he would see the box needs to be re-coded and that guy could tell if the VIN/ keys were for that car and configured ?
Loving this series Dee! I would get someone with ODIS and GEKO access who can program the BCM2 (central conv module) as its got component protection on it. Also the keys wont work with the new module because they need to be programmed to the new one as that module stores the info for this. Thats why when you press the key nothing happens.
Bang on mate, I watched salvage rebuilds do an evoque a few weeks back and their key guy deleted then reprogrammed the ecus and keys to work with each other, may be worth giving him a call

Hello, what i wanted to say you changed out the Module, the problem is not with wiring but with coding of the module, you sourced the parts second hand and its a different VIN in he module, hence why they key is not being read and the ignition is not going on. Just program the module online with ODIS and you should be fine and it will not cost you to much money at all. I work on many VAG stolen cars also for some insurance companies, they module is IMMO master and has a different VIN stored, once you follow the test plan it will re-program keys and enable ingition remotely and will allow you to code the keys and start the car, once you do this it will save you much money and time!

Thanks mate, i wanted to see if there was communication only, i should at least communicated to recognised it was the wrong BCM and register a code to say as such. Remember i got “lost communication” codes. Was just a test to see. But i found the issue in ep.3

Great work. Ive bought a couple stolen/ recovered cars and usually all these interior modules that get taken out you have to replace, but when you do, they need coding to the car as long as the keys. Maybe that will fix your problem hopefully?

Save yourself more head ache- invest in the wiring diagram for the car, then you can see where the random wires you got left go to. If you have communication errors you would need to check the can bus (high) & (low) to the module (s) and the power to the module (s)

I’m no mechanic just got my Audi a5 2023 fixed by the same Audi technician you used maybe see is the battery has gone in the key maybe that why it ain’t getting a signal

All control modules have to be programmed to the car that’s why nothings working mate everything has certain parameters and needs calibrating when replaced

Any tips would be greatful. Where do you guys get your parts from? Used parts? I've bought a Mercedes and I need a replacement headlight and they are soo expensive. Used ones are priced close to the cost of a new one. Crazy. Makes buying from auction work out more expensive than buying a non damaged car. Love the channel.
Just ebay, local scrap yards or the dealer mate. Im editing a video and i just said it. With mercs always go to the dealer there cheap!!!! Many times cheaper than online!

I wouldn’t have bought the ecu kit the issue your having is a wiring issue not a module fault, if they can nick an R8 then they have the brains to know what there trying to disable when there pulling wires, focus on the telematics system and then back track to what’s connected near it my guess is they was trying to disable the telematics and they’ve pulled a ground out for the bcm

it might be easier and cheaper to get a wireing loom from a salvage yard rather than case your tail with all that damage ,great vid keep it real

You had a vodafone imobliser/tracker box in the first video that will need removing or reinstalling. Then as your doing its a case of repairing the wires. You then need the audi dealer diag to reprogram the modules. Persevere you are doing well.

There’s no way he would have the knowledge to fix this imo. Way way above his head.
When you get a new BCM you’re supposed to put the car in ignition and code it using VCDS or Odis. Obviously you can’t do that because your cars not accepting the keys to go into ignition so the next best option is benching the BCM and coding it as necessary I think and then plugging it in. Find someone who can bench it. Hope you get it sorted soon bro 🙌🏽

Since you have a birds eye look of things behind the seats right now with everything out do you see if the R8 Spyder has an anti roll mechanism that pops up/out in the event of a roll over to protect the drivers head? Some higher end exotics have this but I could never find a definitive answer on the R8 Spyders online. Would be cool if it did. Thanks brother.

The reason your getting no comms with the bcm is no power supply, supply direct power to is and wake the unit up and see what you get.

The wire is there to jump the car when the battery dies
But the battery terminals have the jumper connectors for jumping. This wire was ripped so not sure
