John Baizley, the guitarist and main vocalist for this band.He does the artwork for Black Tusk,Kylesa,Baroness, and a bunch of other bands. His artwork is very unique and you can definitely know when its him.Has a very distinguished style.
Saw these guys last night with Mastodon. FUCKING EPIC. My voice is gone from yelling so loud and my neck is sore from the headbanging, but god DAMN I am a happy man.
Barroness was a band i descoverd by myself i had no mates who even knew who thay were and a remembered thinking when i herd Rays of pinion on the Red album Going Fuk i struck GOLD.
Yeah I'm in the same boat as you right now. I can't believe I didn't know about these guys till now, and this is the best song out of all of the ones I heard so far.
Favorite Baroness album by far. Not going to call them sellouts, because they are not. But they got too...soft? for my taste on yellow and green. Still good to chill and listen to though.
@@Pleurotus it’s definitely softer and like you said not a bad thing. Just different. I prefer the heavier side of Baroness but I love all of their work
I saw these guys at the vaudville mews in des moines about a year ago they killed it they were totally awsome, especialy in a small venue and they seemed like really cool guys when i talked to them after the show.
Baroness was not known to be deadly, until 8 people died. Doctors tried to revive the patients by injecting lameness directly into vein, but were unsuccessful since the awesomeness of baroness transfered to their bodies. The portion of awesomeness was well above the limit a single man can take, thus causing mental confusion such as mixing "like" and "dislike" button. This was followed by instant heart attack.
Awesome song!.. If Baroness would make a next album, I'd hope to hear something more closer to this sludge sound thrown in with some very heavy/intriguing shifting riffs!!
+tyree robinson Green/Yellow and this newer nonsense is nowhere on par with Baroness's earlier works. Sad really. They had been a favorite of mine up through 2009. Blue is still an all time favorite of mine. Wish I could say the same of more recent efforts.
+Aaron Kulukjian I think their current sounds is actually quite good. Not the same, for sure...but the world sorely needed a good, melodic, solid big-ass, kick -ass ROCK band that is nevertheless accessible for the current generation, and that is exactly what Baroness have become. I love Blue and Red for sure, but I was just listening to Chlorine and Wine and March to the Sea and thinking "man I´m glad we have a band like that in 2016."
Buddy sent me this video with "I know you like Mastodon so give these guys a shot". I clicked the link and have yet to stop playing it. He sent me the message on Dec 17 2011
For all those that asked about John Dyer Baizley's art: He's done art for Kylesa, Pig Destroyer, Darkest Hour, Daughters, Skeletonwitch, Torche, Cursed, Black Tusk, Kvelertak, Vitamin X, Flight of the Conchords, The Red Chord, and obviously also Baroness. There's these things called Google and Wikipedia, use them to educate yourselves when you wonder about things.
Actually, this is in response to moosemf, each Weezer album that has a color attributed to it are also officially known as self-titled LPs rather than their color attribution. So, it's possible that perhaps no band in history other than Baroness has actually titled an album officially after a color.
these guys do have a killer live sound and put on an excellent show. saw them in Albany when they came through New York last year. fuckin insane show. I wish i could have bought some of the posters on sale. one of the band members does all the artwork himself, and it kicks ass.
@Roughsauce All four of Mastodon's studio LP covers were done by Paul Romano, and all of their miscellaneous artwork that I've seen was done by him, as well. I can't find a single source crediting Baizley with anything for Mastodon, not to mention that his art is usually recognizable and doesn't have much in common with Mastodon's art.
Well luckily they are going on tour with Mastodon, but its also with Between the Buried and Me, and some other little unknown band. Its going to be pretty awesome!
@pieisgod1 Shit yeah, it will be. I'm just now looking into Baroness (a friend described them, and I got interested), but I have massive love for Mastodon and BtBaM. Right now, Baroness is sounding pretty rad, so anything that can add to the already epic first two bands is nothing to scoff at. Enjoy the show, I wish I could be there.
@musterdsandwich I first heard Blue Record, and it's my favorite of the two. If you want a heavier album, go with Red Album. You really can't go wrong either way because they're both unique and different, but both equally as good.
Please someone recommend baroness me songs that are sludgier like Isak , I missed a lot from them because i judged by the look all these years and finally i start to love this track ao bad
some tonal elements they have are also the type of clang that we do in my band...but we mix more grunge and off-center hard rock and three legged beats. cheers!
Did a little more digging. Found Jay-Z's The Black Album, Danger Mouse's The Grey Album, some band named Stefy with an orange album that looks positively douchey, and then a Spongebob Squarepants album called The Yellow Album.
@TriumphOfDeath66 John Baizley does the art for Baroness, Black Tusk, Kylesa, Dead Bird, Kvelertak and other bands. He has a really good psychedelic look going
@ElectricClown1 Better is a relative term. In what aspect are they better? Playing technical, fast scales? Maybe so. But that doesn't necessarily make one a better musician. You're comparing apples and oranges.
Mastodon are one of the best live bands around, certainly the best gig i've ever been to. However big outdoor festivals aren't their strength, the same can be said for a lot of bands. Usually the sound is terrible at festivals.
The new stuff is awesome if you haven't heard them before. Yellow and Green is by far the best album I've bought off Itunes EVER. I suppose if you want your bands to stay the same based on this they didn't. But sounds awesome either way to me.
i LOVE THE DRUMS LIKE A LOT.
This song is how I discovered these guys and it's still one of my favorites.
John Baizley, the guitarist and main vocalist for this band.He does the artwork for Black Tusk,Kylesa,Baroness, and a bunch of other bands. His artwork is very unique and you can definitely know when its him.Has a very distinguished style.
discovered this band Christmas of 2009. then I spent the entire christmas break listening to their albums. it was sick dude
Still remember the first time I heard this song live in Savannah, GA. That was an experience. The whole set they did was awesome.
Such a masterpiece ! Indeed, all red album is a masterpiece to me
Holds the test of time amazingly well. I hardly even listen to any metal or hard rock these days, but this album is/was special.
best song on the album so intense!
Still bad ass to this day

Man the early riff along with the riff from Iron Tusk, just define Sludge to me. So good.
My two favorite songs. Good taste, man.
crowbar?
just discovered these guys. awesome!!
This is such a bad ass tune. I love Baroness.
This is my favorite song right now
This band needs to be much more famous
thank you french tomahawk this is the best song on your channel
loved that intro
this was an enjoyable experience...
quite good live, too
Such a kick ass riff, and song of course...
love them
Yeah I'm in the same boat as you right now. I can't believe I didn't know about these guys till now, and this is the best song out of all of the ones I heard so far.
Love Baroness especially the Red & Blue albums.
great song great album great band.
loving the bass in this song, especially around the 2:44 mark. great song
Best album.best song.love these guys🤘
Seeing them in Bristol next month - to say I cant wait is an understatement... yes!
first time hearing them and this song and im a fan!
I don't see anyone making the vocal comparison to gojira. it's awesome
thank you! 🤘
They sound nothing alike...
This song is super Gojira-esque. With the droning yells, chugs, harmonics and pick scrapes, I totally see the connection.
think you're right dude, never seen that although I'm a fan of both bands
but drummers are nothing alike for me
Hell yeah man learned this on guitar.
same here. first second i heard it i had to learn that riff.
Great song...Great band 😀
Any band that has Baizley art is usually worth listening to.
Still not quite sure how John's mouth can open that far.
Daniel McLellan Not that it should matter, but possibly. Who cares. Maybe he just really likes beer. Still a fun song.
@@danielmclellan7762 same
I’ve always wondered what else that mouth can do
love love love this catchy, heavy, groovy song!!!!!
Holy fuck, I can't stop listening to this. The first verse gets me every time!
Favorite Baroness album by far. Not going to call them sellouts, because they are not. But they got too...soft? for my taste on yellow and green. Still good to chill and listen to though.
i wouldn't say soft, just more mature.
@@TinkerToneworks And soft. It's not a bad word, really.
@@Pleurotus it’s definitely softer and like you said not a bad thing. Just different. I prefer the heavier side of Baroness but I love all of their work
Weak take Breh. You ain't that hardcore
BRAIIIN EXPLODEE!!!!!!!
Friggin sweet art
Bless you folk
French Tomahawk?
Yea
Yep
Yep
Yis
Yup

This is my favourite Baroness song, it makes me think of Vikings rowing.
Awesome song!.. If Baroness would make a next album, I'd hope to hear something more closer to this sludge sound thrown in with some very heavy/intriguing shifting riffs!!
Mzler1388 Have you not heard any of the Blue Album or Green and Yellow?
tyree robinson hahahahaha +1
I liked the Blue Album more than I did when I listened to Green and Yellow.. Red and Blue are standout masterpieces imo

no, the singer, John, does. I shook his hand an hour ago after their set. They tore Arizona apart. incredible shit man
Buddy sent me this video with "I know you like Mastodon so give these guys a shot". I clicked the link and have yet to stop playing it. He sent me the message on Dec 17 2011
Just caught this on my ath-m50s it was great
I pulled that list straight from Wikipedia.
I looked though, he did the cover for "I told you I was freaky"
Isaaaaaaak! \m/
This is by far the baddest fucking song I have heard by these dudes!

Great song. Reminds me of older bands like Down and even Helmet lol
@jimmy56100 I saw them on Saturday too. I'd only heard 'The sweetest curse' and barely heard of them, but now they are one of my favourite bands.
es un temazo la estructura del tema es una belleza
just saw these guys open for clutch in missoula...definately different...
Nice to hear the Purdie shuffle show up in a metal context
with bonham "triplets". dope
well i guess it's just replacing hi hats with bass, BUT ANYWAYS it's great

Well luckily they are going on tour with Mastodon, but its also with Between the Buried and Me, and some other little unknown band. Its going to be pretty awesome!
the beginning totally has a melvins feel to it
Yes, heavily Melvins feel to it. Like something from "a senile animal"
the beginning with just the double bass pedal sounded sick

i listen to thrash, power, speed, and a little bit of death but ive gotta say this is really good
yes they would :>
well, i do :D
i wanna see them live :(
My brothers actually good friends with John Baizley, they went to the same art school where he did these amazing graphics.
Please someone recommend baroness me songs that are sludgier like Isak , I missed a lot from them because i judged by the look all these years and finally i start to love this track ao bad
@Bonzoso21 Nope, but Baizley has done art for Black Tusk and Kelevertak. And I love it, great artist. So is Paul Romano.
Brutal drums, epic vocals... yeah I'll stay.
some tonal elements they have are also the type of clang that we do in my band...but we mix more grunge and off-center hard rock and three legged beats. cheers!
super duper band!
I LOVE Baizley artwork :D

Absolutely insane
i actually found this informative, i really don't listen to metal myself honestly.
full of strength
grrrrrreat!
@chocostyle That's right. It's a form of expression and a creative outlet and Baroness writes some of the best stories I've ever read.
@TriumphOfDeath66 John Baizley does the art for Baroness, Black Tusk, Kylesa, Dead Bird, Kvelertak and other bands. He has a really good psychedelic look going

This song makes want to go on an epc quest to hunt demons across the barren wasteland of Georgia.
John is beast in this one. woa
@M45T3R84T10N there is a slayer song called psychopathy red... maybe he misspelled that ?
This is why i love the related videos panel on youtube :)

@TriumphOfDeath66
John Dyer Baizley, the vocalist/guitarist of this band.
just the name makes me want to check them out.
why thank you sir.
This bands like Mastodon uses these 3 tuning (try the one u want):
D G C F A D
A G C F A D
C G C F A D
(all of them from the high string to low)
@HexagramMan i love both bands but i don't i hear them sounding the same they r just both very talented
And this particular song is in drop-A# so A# F A# D# G C 😉
Baroness uses this tuning a lot, it's darker than Mastodon
The new stuff is awesome if you haven't heard them before. Yellow and Green is by far the best album I've bought off Itunes EVER. I suppose if you want your bands to stay the same based on this they didn't. But sounds awesome either way to me.
@Gargiuloth2
Whoa... you sound so rebellious... i can do nothing but agree, professors are square doood
