His voice here reminds me of the time before Autotune, before 'boy bands' (BB Mak is exempt), before CDs, before the Loudness Wars stripped all fidelity from music, when music and voice were analog, human, and warmed by the red-orange glow of tube amps. I'm not suggesting anything is wrong with the digital realm, this and many other truly beautiful songs exist because of it, it's just nice to hear the humans.
