She found out about Carla and Liam's affair and put the pieces together. Tony was never a nice guy pretty ruthless individual who wasn't liked very well by the locals and I'm pretty sure Maria knew what he was truly capable off by this point.
Tony Gordon Is one of my fave Corrie villains I personally liked him better then Pat Phelan and I loved Phelan
