Subaru always made great cars, my 99 legacy GT 2.5 with way over 250k still runs like new, I had to change the speedo cause it stopped working at 230k, my wife's Legacy 3.6R just hit 100k and runs fantastic, I was looking at another subaru last year but i refuse to buy a car that has less or almost the same HP as my 99 legacy GT, my wife's car makes as much HP as the current wrx and that is not acceptable at all, Subaru selling an under power engine and changing a few cosmetics will not fly with me, owning in the past a 93 1.8 Impreza, 99 2.2 legacy and still own a 99Legacy GT 2.5 and a 2015 Legacy 3.6R i was a loyal customer but you won't satisfy my needs...... I will move on.

A drunk idiot in a Myvi just destroyed their car and my 2016 XV, blowing through a red light. I'm seriously thinking of just getting another XV, as nothing else quite ticks all the same boxes (and it proved itself safe in a 80kph crash...) 150+ hp with all-wheel-drive in a nimble little package that handles like a sports car is tough to beat in Malaysia. The HRV is 2WD and missing 30 hp, so is the Toyota Cross, the X-Trail has dodgy CVT and the AWD 2.5 is 25k more expensive. I was excited about the HRV turbo, until I realized it's the same 1.5 turbo engine causing all the problems in the Civic and CRV. The Mazda CX5 is nice but again much more expensive. Might test-drive the CRV 2.0 non-turbo but really nothing has changed since 2016. The XV is still the sweetest deal here. Oh, I like the look of the Proton faux-Landrovers but apparently there's a long waiting list due to chip shortages? So yeah, probably another XV.

I’ve a 241hp XT which develops 100hp more than this but still gets 8.5km per litre. Has anyone at Subaru ever run one? 156ps and only 8.5km per litre 😉😉😱
It's better off-road than the Nissan X-Trail and approach/departure angles are reasonable for such a soft-roader. We can't get the XT here in Malaysia, and considering my tooned Hilux with twin turbos only reaches 200 hp I'm not sure why you need so much in a little hatchback? You must be one of those American people?

I'm shocked they're still selling those exact same engines and don't seem to have fixed the issue?? I expected such problems, which is why I talked my wife out of a Ford Kuga, which also uses a small engine working hard with a big turbo.
In the US it's called the Crosstrek, and as it has less than 5,000 hp Americans complain it's too slow, as it only does 124 mph, terrible I guess? Apparently Americans drive faster than that.
@@bigglyguy8429 I seldom drive over 85mph anymore. Next week while driving through Montana USA, I’ll have my cruise set on 85mph as the speed limit is 80mph. I did get my Forester up to 100mph last week while my 85 year old dad was with me, but I usually set my speed on 65mph around our house and 75mph on the freeway. When I was 18 years old I got a ticket for driving 140mph.
