Memo to law students: if you go to trial as an attorney, never, EVER accuse a witness of lying. You can take apart the testimony. You can point out inconsistencies. You can even tell the jury (in closing, not in examination) that the witness is unreliable or flawed. But beginning your examination with "you're lying, this is a publicity stunt" will instantly tell the judge that you are an unethical, terrible lawyer who thinks TV courtroom drama is realistic, and you will give your opponent a huge opening to throw out your entire line of questioning or the entire trial itself. The reason is, if an attorney knowingly brings a witness who presents false testimony (i.e. perjury), that can get the attorney in serious trouble with the bar. So accusing a witness of lying in trial is so serious, it is generally considered unacceptable. It's also incredibly weak lawyering, because the witness won't be very cooperative. It makes for juicy ratings bait, but it's one of those things that doesn't happen in most courtrooms.
@temporarysanity women have been jealous of men for centuries. It will never change, women are simply not happy being women. Even in today's society where they have more opportunities than men. Hell, they actually can physically become men! Yet they will still be unhappy because there will be men out there that are still succeeding and in that, a woman somewhere was deprived by his success.
Barba, ever the gentleman! ~swoon~ That being said, why does EVERY SVU detective, and Liv, need to be in the courtroom if they do not have to testify? They always say they are short-handed, yet always there. I guess the crimes wait until the trial is finished!

Svu concentrate on rape or child abuse so just cause other killings are happening doesnt they have to attend them, olivia also is on trial to help clients if the defense breakes them or the criminal gets away with it, she is not only there for the criminals but also for the victims
William Day actually the point he was trying to make was that a highly trained athlete should be strong enough to physically fight her attacker off and that she cried rape bc she didn’t get the attention / satisfaction she wanted from him so dragging him through a high profile case would need her need for it Anyone who has had to go through a case where they were assaulted and aren’t believed knows that it isn’t done for attention
@@cazia9 The point should have been nulled when biologically even if a woman is trained , doesnt mean shes trained to fight and men are stronger than women.

What makes this disturbing to me is that in Illinois in the mid 90’s, this wouldn’t be considered rape. I was on a jury and we had to find a rapist not guilty because consenting to one penetrative sexual act was construed as consent to any such act. The defense attorney made the same claims about the accusation being a ploy, but at least as recessive as most of the jury was, another juror and I with knowledge of the general nature of the victims work situation managed to dissuade the rest of the jury on the defense’s theory
So, your consent to average, non violent vanilla sex is considered consent to any other act even if you say no. Wow, great law for every violent misogynist predator.
