@onepunchbro they’re right - I need to dive, but chase enemies within reason. A real Jeff player (this was a bot in the gameplay) would have way too much escape and survivability to warrant abandoning my team to chase them.

Ways to identify bot matches while in the match: 1- They always have the 2/2/2 role distribution that rarely happens naturally in quickplay 2- The names mostly follow certain rules that make them weirdly inoffensive and sort of unrealistically vanilla like gamertags you would see in a disney movie or something 3- Get killed by one and watch their aim and movement, they lock on and track unnaturally but are intentionally not always perfectly on target so they are constantly tracking in a radius around the target, they instantly switch targets whenever their currently locked on target hides behind a wall and they know when a target peaks again even while looking away 180 degrees 4- They basically never switch heroes 5- No toxic chat 6- They don't really strafe or bunnyhop 7- Absolutely rediculous ult usage/wastage like Jeff never using a cliff and just swimming around randomly instead 8- Rarely use any escape strategy with any hero even spiderman 9- When time is running out they abandon all reasonable 'gameplay' and just walk in a straight line towards the objective, most of the time sideways or turning around weirdly while trying to target anyone 10- They don't prioritize important targets like healers or a Hawkeye farming kills from the backline even when they have a Psylock or Spiderman and have a hard time getting rid of placed objects like Loki clones or spider nests

Agreed im fine with the mechanic to keep normal players playing who just want to have fun, but for those with a competitive mindset it should be an option
If you know the algo...it's pretty obvious and easy to check. Lose 2-3, bot match, way to check; spray a sticker and see if they spray floor/door in succession. Names are Simple/"normal"/or one word lowercase or just on word. Even easier way to check after the fact although tedious, check history from Player Profile after loss streak then random "win", bots have "Restricted Access" if trying to View Career. You get matched with 4 players and 6 bots. Players will be random from bronze to literally grandmaster, anyone can be in a streak of losses. To completely avoid this, just play competitive. Despite your fears or objections, you WILL inevitably get better and always have humans.
I noticed the bots and as soon as I did, I started questioning my own abilities. And I highly dislike it. It's a huge turn-off. I want to leave the match, because I'd rather see if my skills are improving or where I'm lacking; this aspect of self-improvement is natural to me and it's what I find fun. I don't want to feel like I am being treated like a baby with my hand held by a parent. So, although I get that statistically this is what the devs are looking for, I can see it being a sort-of known secret that everyone feel dishonestly treated by. Quicky play is for PVP A.I. vs Players is where I can turn off my brain and just shoot.
How to spot bots is easy. If none of the opponents have wierd pervy names like Longschlong silver. Your in a bot lobby lol. This game is riddled with wierd names. 😂
Found out that a player named "pornud" is a bit so idk how foolproof that plan is anymore 😵💫 And just in case you were wondering, I tried to search up pornud's name in the game and it denies it because the text contains inappropriate content. Apparently not inappropriate enough to not be someone's username???
Something I’ve noticed is that bot Jeff’s will never go for the suicide kill with their ult, they’ll always just spin in circles until they spit them out
I don’t hate the idea or mentality behind the bot matches, but I feel like there should be more tuning to what triggers them, i.e. 6+ shutout losses instead of just 2. Also it should be opt-in. Re: your advice, I’m reminded of the old MMO mantra: dead DPS is no DPS. It is better to LIVE and do something later.

Just went to check and every loss streak of 3 was followed by a bot game. This is something me and my friends already started noticed but until now accredited to the usual SBMM plague. We just expected that the very boring and easy stomps was just the bottom of the barrel players to give us some relieve. To secretly sprinkle in bots is incredibly deceiving. What's the point of a separate bot playlist if at any time I might get bots anyways? Now I automatically assume anyone with a hidden profile is a bot even if it's not the entire team.
@@Pikachu-qr4yb The entire enemy team +2 players on your team will have their profile hidden. This happens every single time after 3 losses to me. Coincidence? They also behave identical. They all run down main no matter what. You can also hang out above the spawn door with Spiderman or venom and they will bug out. First they will spot you immediately (Not really a spot you will check unprompted) and then they will jiggle back and forth trying to hit you if it is a Thor or something.
If you go to your match history and look at their profiles it will say “restricted.” Hidden player profiles don’t say restricted, they say something else.
A lot of people play Quick play to learn new characters & have fun so I completely understand giving a player bot games if they're getting kurb stomped every game because even if someone else might be having fun while losing, another teammate might be hating their experience. I really love ranked because It really helped me find other players who are serious about getting better at their characters & the game as a whole whereas in quick play it's a combination of different kinds of players (most of which don't take the matches seriously)
@@UnrealEggo My experience in comp is terrible. When we lose the first round, at least one idiot from my team always ragequits. And that decides the second round, which is either an immediate surrender, or a waste of time as we get wrecked.
@mastertoci yep, same. Worse yet, my first experience with comp involved an opponent rage-quitting early, which made our game end immediately, resulting in no win for me. In my second game, a teammate disconnected or rage quit later in the match, and the match kept going for an inevitable loss! So frustrating!
I personally don't like it at all. At the very least, it should be an option that the player is made aware of and can control. The biggest argument to be made for populating matches with bots is to alleviate long queue times. But the player population is so robust right now that there's really zero issue of that being a problem. I get the psychological angle of "They just got stomped. Let's let give them a bit of a break." Personally, that just feels like coddling and, as you say, it can end up reinforcing bad play habits. I've had times where I noticed an enemy Iron Man or Storm flying in really stiff and awkward patterns that didn't feel like a real player. They were probably bots and just knowing that element is out there and beyond my control was a little irritating.
The worst part about this is that for example I like to play Spiderman in quick play because I’m not good enough to go ranked with him, and when I get queued against bots they don’t react at all like humans, they all know exactly where I am when I’m diving the backline, which is frustrating because it’s not even practice at this stage it’s just recognizing bots patterns and weaknesses.
I had actually wondered about this because if you've ever done Practice Vs. AI and had a bot Jeff,, when they ult they just kind of wander aimlessly while you and any teammates that were swallowed are in his ult and then he just spits you out at ult's end. Not off a cliff like a human player who knows how to play Jeff would. So I was playing Quick Match and I saw the enemy Jeff do this (who at the time I thought was a human) and noticed the exact same movement pattern that an AI Jeff would do. It really had me curious about it. Thanks for the video and now I know after games what to look for if I want to confirm my suspicions!
It might also be a way to speed up queue times. I noticed in one of these "bot matches" my winning team also had bots on it. If it's the difference between waiting a minute in queue or an instant mixed bot game, I'm kind of okay with bots for quick play.
That explains why some games feel so damn easy. Not sure how to feel about this but so far I'm still having fun and that's what's most important to me.
Your a kindred spirit. I play peni and have to beg for a strategist every game even in comp. I like to play thor too but it hard when there isn't a main tank. I'd be fine Silo tanking but that's hard with 1 healer and 4 dps who collectively have 20 kills between them

Wow, although it took me a while, I did in fact found an example of this in my match history. A victory match after 3 defeats in which all of the players had their profiles restricted. Like you mentioned this is highly suspicious to be bots. I do agree with you on the fact that if you are the type of person trying to get better at the game (same for me) and learning from mistakes, bots just add a false input of information to you. Well I have been pushing myself away from competitive matches, but I'd assume that at least there this problem wouldn't happen. Right? ...... time for competitive I guess 😓
I still wish games that did this had an option to disable it. Because generally im personally fine with getting a break after being annoyed of losses. But many people would much rather keep fighting only humans so they can get skills and such.
This is an issue that I hoped would be gone by now, or at least only used for newer players. But the thing is, I'm over lvl 40 with 70h in the game and whenever I lose two quick play matches in a row I get matched against a full team of bots and it's so obvious every time because we stomp them too hard. Like you said, I don't need my ego padded, I want to actually challenge myself and have a satisfying match. I could just play ranked, but I don't feel like it all the time, so I go casual to try new heroes. If I wanted to play bots I'd be playing co-op vs AI. I wish they get rid of this so one can enjoy quick play without bots.
I realized I was playing against bots when I was moon night and my onk would get destroyed in half a millisecond no matter where I threw it on the map.
On top of all this you don't get penalized for leaving games with real people. but you do get penalized for leaving games with bots. like wtf is that logic.
It's like schrodingers cat, you won't know if it's a Ai bot game or the opponent is just trash until you check it afterwards, so does it still justify for you leave the match because you thought the opponents are AI, What if they turned out Real?

Check the player banners while loading at the start of the match (Tab on PC). If the enemy team is full of six plain banners (generic gray ones instead of banners with characters on them) and you have two plain banners on your team, you are playing against bots.
I thought the way to play people is to play this mode called competitive. I mean regardless of bots or not you still learn how to play the hero like Spider-Man who is incredibly hard and needs time learning combos so it still can be helpful.
I learned on League of Legends early on that the best way to win is to not die. I carried that knowledge onto Smite, Heroes of the Storm, Overwatch and am now trying to find the right "escape from dying" characters in Marvel Rivals. Whatever role I pick I know I can do it better if I'm not dead all the time.

I personally have no problems with this because it doesn't affect my playtime of the game at all, as I only grind the challenges and leave when I've had my fill for the day. But putting bots in Quick Match seems completely unnecessary as there's already a separate bot mode and especially when they're counting progress towards challenges and achievements in the bot-mode matches. I thought they had a weird SBMM that is unnoticeable unless you start losing consecutive matches, but it turns out they're using bots lol. I used to play a lot of Splitgate and they used to put bots in the game only when it took too long to find enough players. Even then, you couldn't tell that easily because the bots actually scaled up with your level and could play well. Marvel Rivals really don't need to put in bots like this as the population is high enough for them to implement a moderate or healthy amount of SBMM (unlike CoD, Halo or Apex Legends).
It’s an issue if your ego is getting in the way. The reality is that you’re only going up against bots in quickplay (not competitive/ranked) if you’re getting stomped. Instead of tilting after a stomp you should be taking a break anyways but we all know we don’t so the game instead has you try and reset / reinforce better habits with a match against bots rather than drag down any of the poor teammates you’re matched up with that can’t carry you.
It’s the fact that u have to check and make sure if it’s bots means it’s fine. Sometimes I actually make a custom game so I get actual healers and a decent match the hard bots aren’t “hard” but they play out a match pretty well too
One small thing I noticed. If the other team has a Jeff, you will know soon if it’s bots or not. If ya go off the cliff, probably not bots. Go in circles with no real purpose while Jeff’d, bots.

Only 1 minute and 13 seconds in but the Moba mentality is actually so true, I've never played one but ever since playing Deadlock, my mentality about losing really shifted from, dang that sucks, go next. To dang that sucks, now time to learn what I did wrong and actually consciously improve. For me it's been a lot more effective then what I usually do which is brute force improving through games overtime, mixing the two is way better. Also the best part is if you're ever too tired to think, you can still just play and learn and get better especially due to the fact you know some of the ins and outs, pretty awesome.
You mentioned the stomp part, but to me I get systematically placed against bots after 2 losses in a row even if I had a great performance and our team didn't get hard stomped. It will happen even if after those 2 games I go ranked and win and come back to quick play to get greeted by bots. So annoying cause it really doesn't help at all helping me learn how to properly play a hero.
I mean... I'm a strategist main, I always prioritise healing my teammates, I have my profile on private, but I'm kinda toxic from time to time in chat, especially when my team doesn't even try or go 1vs all enemies. So, the latter proves to my (probably bot) teammates that I'm not a bot, I guess 😅

So i found this out by checking third party analytics. It got me curious, and i decided to check all of my games in which ones where bots which there were 102 matches or so. 30 percent of them were bot matches. Sometimes it would give a bot match after one loss. I had a loss where i went 26-4 as venom and tanked significant amount of damage. It was just a close game. Next lobby was still bots and i went 38-1... Ive had bot matches even after a win streak... Okay maybe its my level? Im level 26 currently. I thought perhaps its because of my rank? As im only silver currently as mostly played quick play due to cross platform restrictions with my friends. Who are high elo. Nope even gives bots then. I think the algorithm must be bugged. It seems to DEFINITELY give bots if you lose two or more games in a row but it also just randomly feeds you a bot game. Also bots will be on your team sometimes I had a match where the only real people in the lobby was me and one rando. That blows Anyway i uninstalled this game on this basis alone. Its deceiving and feels icky playing after that.

That first part is crucial. Looking inward is the quickest way to improve. Im not just saying that either. I was stuck in silver in ow1 always blamed others for my losses. Watched Raggtagg and he was informative and entertaining. After accepting i was gutter trash and realizing that the game is supposed to be stress releiving i picked up pointers changed my mindset and climbed to plat after a 20 game win streak. I was the bad teammate i kept thinking i got. It made so much more sense. Team based game reauires team based gameplay. Even if i feel like im better i learned to play to my teams strengths and the maps' strengths.
i made some research about this got 5 bot matches and got some info about it you usually get send into a bot match if you lose 3 matches in a row, got sent once at 2 defeats and other at 4 but mostly at 3 it usually has 2-3 real players but got 1 real player and 4 real players once about the bots behavior they use default banners and are around lvl 1-5 always pick 2 tanks, 2 dps and 2 healers and always wait to the last second for selecting their hero they exaggerate their roles (tanks push way to deep) and don't use their characters the way it was supposed to
if you press tab on the loading screen before the character selection you can bot check, if all enemies are around lvl 1-5 and you teammates are doing weird flicks on spawn than its a bot lobby
Ok so I checked my previous matches. I was doing constant wins and I was worried that I was fighting with bots, but fortunately they were all players. Guess I was just locked in the whole time.
After knowing this information, you just go back to the idea that you first had. Win the so obvious bot game, then go back to quickplay and learn the stuff you we're trying to do. Bot matches here and there wont throw you off now that you know when to expect a bot match would be. I've been trying to learn peni parker for rank recently in quick play, and everytime I know i've lost enough to get a bot match, I either try my techniques with peni with bots or I choose another hero that i seldom use and try to learn how they would affect my game as either enemies or allies. If anything else, for a lot of people it helps with burn-out. If not for you, then just imagine it for people that dont usually play these games.
The easiest way to tell is they will always face you even if that means putting their back towards the rest of your team. When they fly. They move, stop, move,stop and repeat. A normal player is constantly moving or strafing. At worse they are stationary for a long time. But the movement is never consistent
As a casual gamer i really dont mind. Especially since the ai bots aint all that bad. Its not like call of duty bots where they just stand there and shoot you. I play fortnite too and ive always wished that game had a bot only mode. However it should definitely be optional to have bots or not
@1:20 wrong. the answer is most likely no for these types of games. you can get the best gamer in the world, it wont matter in a TEAM BASED game. They will lose against a descent team
I had a TON of games lately where my team just gets absolutely demolished, where we were even lucky enough to get 1-2 kills. Just when I think I was going to sign off for the night... land a 30 bomb mvp game. Keeps me going, but doesn't help me know how "good" of a player I am. (even though I know im beyond my prime LOL).

Yeah to be fully honest the matchmaking in general for Quick play will ruin the casual nature of it for me. Already has to be honest. I also think I have a fairly realistic grasp on my skill level. Then you look at people's time play and the difference between team to team is always unbelievable to me. Then the game forces a petty win where the win doesn't feel like anything is just meh. I understand the system cause the game is 12+ after all. Also the last comment is 10/10.
What I hate more is that deranking is prevented by losing less!!! This BS keeps noobs in higher ranks FAR LONGER WHERE they don't belong! This actually ruins the fun and competitiveness!!! It's so dumb! Make it so you lose 18 progression or something and win a little more! If you have a win streak increase the progression like OW!

Honestly I don't mind if they are putting bots in qp. It is what it is and at least gives some of the worst players a chance to have fun. If it bothers anybody so much, just play comp.
I played ranked with a group and have to solo queue in quick match while waiting for them to get on. You can be the best player in the world but you're not winning a 6v1 to avoid going against bots once in a while. Even GM players struggle carrying people in bronze and silver. They should give you an option to opt out of it, but it's supposed to be a secret so people don't know they're being given wins so they dont' quit the game, thus stop buying skins. It's a scummy retention tactic.
I actually do think that it’s a good mechanic, even if I do think that it should only come in to play if you start losing like four or five games in a row consistently, and mostly because just getting stomped 13 games in a row isn’t fun, but I also do think that the game needs an ELO system for quick play. Don’t even have it be visible, just let it exist, so that players of similar skill level get grouped together. Then you can make it an option that could be easily opted out of, and I do think that making it voluntary solves all of the problems that people have with it.
At first I thought it was aimbot, and that it was a huge problem. Playing Spider-man is so unenjoyable even if you get the win because the killcams are ridiculous
This explains A LOT as to why the player base has not gone down. People just don't like losing ad nauseum and the devs figured out a really smart way to get them thinking that they're not as bad as they actually are.
It is nice to sprinkle in Botts every now and then while having the illusion that you're playing against people to boost your Morel and not play sweaty matches all the time. I know not all people agree with this opinion but I do not want to just go into me against spots but occasionally having a bot to go against help lower the blood pressure and ease the mind LOL like you said it's not a one for one thing that you face spots and then humans and then bots.
There are other ways to know if they are bots. 1. They see and try to hit you through walls. 2. They have aimbot but purposely miss their shots sometimes, especially when ur almost dead. 3. You cant flank them they always know where you are. 4. If even a single enemy is a bot the entire enemy team are bots but if you solo queue 3 of ur teammates will also be bots. 5. They never have skins or special character pfps. 6. They sometimes ult in random parts of the map (for example jeff ults on the otherside of the map) also the jeff bot doesnt try to spit you off the map. 7. They statisticly move in straight lines in random directions. 8. If they are melee characters they tend to moonwalk away from you when ur almost dead (many occasions where a hulk stuns me, is 2 punches away from killing me then moonwalks away from me swinging at the air). 9. I literally dont think its possible to lose to them, sometimes I go afk when I realize their bots and they get washed anyway. Btw they also will switch characters sometimes when they are losing really bad (if they do all the things above they are bots dont let them fool you), this is all I got for now I'm sure theres more but I can't remember it all, for me its extremely easy to tell when they're bots. Usually when I lose 2 games in a row (even if the 2 games were close) I pay close attention to my teammates on the third game and low and behold they move like BOTS and I already know the type of match I'm gonna endure. Give it a year or 2 and it will be even easier to tell on the skins part cause most people will have a skin for most characters.
Another way to elevate your gameplay is to realize healers SHOULD be doing DPS. There's no need to heal damage if you kill the source of the damage instead. Healbotting puts the entire burden onto the DPS, and, that's very often unfeasible for them. That's why you see strategists routinely getting 9-18K damage once you get out of metal ranks. If that damage were something insignificant, like 2K, well then, when the enemy team strategists also have 18K each, and the DPS only managed to get 22-25K, you were essentially fighting against 2 extra people that your enemy team didn't have to. Which is why they win. Healbotting loses games unless you find that unicorn DPS that actually pops off.
@@TheModularian Honestly this just sounds like the DPS players need to be better it switch. I started playing Healer/Strategist a week ago and my friend switched from Tank to DPS, I focus heals and shoot when someone is escaping or buffing too much. It's a fine line to walk between focusing heals and attacking. Pulling in 20K heals should be normal. Damage varies. DPS guys need to either get DAMAGE PER SECOND, or consider playing a different roll. There should be 0 matches where a Rocket gets more damage than a Punisher. Alot of DPS guys play like tanks and id rather have 3 Tanks, 2 Healers, and 1 DPS over a 2-2-2 or anything with more DPS than anything else. TLDR: Most DPS suck and need to try out tank
This isn't OW... healers in this game aren't buffed damage dealers who can destroy u quicker than dps can lol... in this game its better to prioritize healing
There's a reason it's called strategist and not healer. When someone doesn't need healing you do whatever other supportive thing you can, which for most characters is dealing damage. You should aim for ZERO downtime on impacting the game. If you're getting low damage as a strategist you're most likely doing something wrong. It's more important to shoot someone than to top off your tank's 95% health unless they're getting focused.
Is there a petition or something to help address this because I would at least like the option to opt out of these matches or leave without penalty. I hate the toxic egos in competitive and I do not want to play BOTS!!!!!!!
I noticed this after another youtuber brought it up. The way the bots move is so obvious when you watch the replay. They somehow snap to a target that isn't even in their line of sight. They tend to walk in a straight line when in spawn. I understand why Rivals does this, but it's lame. I lost the love I had for Fortnite for this very reason. I hate having a phenomenal game only to realize it was bots. I'm basically stat padding with bots man lmao. It definitely helps with player retention, basically allowing everyone to experience dopamine during every play session. Losing constantly would cause so many people to put the game down but sheesh

3- Get killed by one and watch their aim and movement, they lock on and track unnaturally but are intentionally not always perfectly on target so they are constantly tracking in a radius around the target, they instantly switch targets whenever their currently locked on target hides behind a wall and they know when a target peaks again even while looking away 180 degrees
4- They basically never switch heroes
5- No toxic chat
6- They don't really strafe or bunnyhop
7- Absolutely rediculous ult usage/wastage like Jeff never using a cliff and just swimming around randomly instead
8- Rarely use any escape strategy with any hero even spiderman
9- When time is running out they abandon all reasonable 'gameplay' and just walk in a straight line towards the objective, most of the time sideways or turning around weirdly while trying to target anyone
10- They don't prioritize important targets like healers or a Hawkeye farming kills from the backline even when they have a Psylock or Spiderman and have a hard time getting rid of placed objects like Loki clones or spider nests

If you know the algo...it's pretty obvious and easy to check. Lose 2-3, bot match, way to check; spray a sticker and see if they spray floor/door in succession. Names are Simple/"normal"/or one word lowercase or just on word.
Even easier way to check after the fact although tedious, check history from Player Profile after loss streak then random "win", bots have "Restricted Access" if trying to View Career.
You get matched with 4 players and 6 bots. Players will be random from bronze to literally grandmaster, anyone can be in a streak of losses.
To completely avoid this, just play competitive. Despite your fears or objections, you WILL inevitably get better and always have humans.

I noticed the bots and as soon as I did, I started questioning my own abilities. And I highly dislike it. It's a huge turn-off. I want to leave the match, because I'd rather see if my skills are improving or where I'm lacking; this aspect of self-improvement is natural to me and it's what I find fun. I don't want to feel like I am being treated like a baby with my hand held by a parent.
So, although I get that statistically this is what the devs are looking for, I can see it being a sort-of known secret that everyone feel dishonestly treated by. Quicky play is for PVP A.I. vs Players is where I can turn off my brain and just shoot.
How to spot bots is easy. If none of the opponents have wierd pervy names like Longschlong silver. Your in a bot lobby lol. This game is riddled with wierd names. 😂

Something I’ve noticed is that bot Jeff’s will never go for the suicide kill with their ult, they’ll always just spin in circles until they spit them out
I don’t hate the idea or mentality behind the bot matches, but I feel like there should be more tuning to what triggers them, i.e. 6+ shutout losses instead of just 2. Also it should be opt-in.

Just went to check and every loss streak of 3 was followed by a bot game. This is something me and my friends already started noticed but until now accredited to the usual SBMM plague. We just expected that the very boring and easy stomps was just the bottom of the barrel players to give us some relieve. To secretly sprinkle in bots is incredibly deceiving.
What's the point of a separate bot playlist if at any time I might get bots anyways?
Now I automatically assume anyone with a hidden profile is a bot even if it's not the entire team.

They also behave identical. They all run down main no matter what.
You can also hang out above the spawn door with Spiderman or venom and they will bug out. First they will spot you immediately (Not really a spot you will check unprompted) and then they will jiggle back and forth trying to hit you if it is a Thor or something.
If you go to your match history and look at their profiles it will say “restricted.” Hidden player profiles don’t say restricted, they say something else.
A lot of people play Quick play to learn new characters & have fun so I completely understand giving a player bot games if they're getting kurb stomped every game because even if someone else might be having fun while losing, another teammate might be hating their experience.
I really love ranked because It really helped me find other players who are serious about getting better at their characters & the game as a whole whereas in quick play it's a combination of different kinds of players (most of which don't take the matches seriously)

When we lose the first round, at least one idiot from my team always ragequits.
And that decides the second round, which is either an immediate surrender, or a waste of time as we get wrecked.
@mastertoci yep, same. Worse yet, my first experience with comp involved an opponent rage-quitting early, which made our game end immediately, resulting in no win for me. In my second game, a teammate disconnected or rage quit later in the match, and the match kept going for an inevitable loss! So frustrating!
I personally don't like it at all. At the very least, it should be an option that the player is made aware of and can control. The biggest argument to be made for populating matches with bots is to alleviate long queue times. But the player population is so robust right now that there's really zero issue of that being a problem.
I get the psychological angle of "They just got stomped. Let's let give them a bit of a break." Personally, that just feels like coddling and, as you say, it can end up reinforcing bad play habits.
I've had times where I noticed an enemy Iron Man or Storm flying in really stiff and awkward patterns that didn't feel like a real player. They were probably bots and just knowing that element is out there and beyond my control was a little irritating.
Well now I need to go back and see if the games where I've MVPed were against bots or real people lol
The worst part about this is that for example I like to play Spiderman in quick play because I’m not good enough to go ranked with him, and when I get queued against bots they don’t react at all like humans, they all know exactly where I am when I’m diving the backline, which is frustrating because it’s not even practice at this stage it’s just recognizing bots patterns and weaknesses.
I had actually wondered about this because if you've ever done Practice Vs. AI and had a bot Jeff,, when they ult they just kind of wander aimlessly while you and any teammates that were swallowed are in his ult and then he just spits you out at ult's end. Not off a cliff like a human player who knows how to play Jeff would. So I was playing Quick Match and I saw the enemy Jeff do this (who at the time I thought was a human) and noticed the exact same movement pattern that an AI Jeff would do. It really had me curious about it. Thanks for the video and now I know after games what to look for if I want to confirm my suspicions!

It might also be a way to speed up queue times. I noticed in one of these "bot matches" my winning team also had bots on it. If it's the difference between waiting a minute in queue or an instant mixed bot game, I'm kind of okay with bots for quick play.
That explains why some games feel so damn easy. Not sure how to feel about this but so far I'm still having fun and that's what's most important to me.

Your a kindred spirit. I play peni and have to beg for a strategist every game even in comp. I like to play thor too but it hard when there isn't a main tank. I'd be fine Silo tanking but that's hard with 1 healer and 4 dps who collectively have 20 kills between them
I was playing Star-Lord today and got a match where I DEMOLISHED the enemy team and I was sure that it was a bot match, imagine my surprise when the enemy Star-Lord talked on chat

Wow, although it took me a while, I did in fact found an example of this in my match history. A victory match after 3 defeats in which all of the players had their profiles restricted. Like you mentioned this is highly suspicious to be bots. I do agree with you on the fact that if you are the type of person trying to get better at the game (same for me) and learning from mistakes, bots just add a false input of information to you.
Well I have been pushing myself away from competitive matches, but I'd assume that at least there this problem wouldn't happen. Right? ...... time for competitive I guess 😓

This is an issue that I hoped would be gone by now, or at least only used for newer players. But the thing is, I'm over lvl 40 with 70h in the game and whenever I lose two quick play matches in a row I get matched against a full team of bots and it's so obvious every time because we stomp them too hard. Like you said, I don't need my ego padded, I want to actually challenge myself and have a satisfying match. I could just play ranked, but I don't feel like it all the time, so I go casual to try new heroes. If I wanted to play bots I'd be playing co-op vs AI. I wish they get rid of this so one can enjoy quick play without bots.

I often get bots after 1 loss.
Check the player banners while loading at the start of the match (Tab on PC). If the enemy team is full of six plain banners (generic gray ones instead of banners with characters on them) and you have two plain banners on your team, you are playing against bots.
matchmaking in marvel rivals just feels like 1 game you win by a lot, then the next game you lose by a lot, then you do that back and forth forever.
I thought the way to play people is to play this mode called competitive. I mean regardless of bots or not you still learn how to play the hero like Spider-Man who is incredibly hard and needs time learning combos so it still can be helpful.

I learned on League of Legends early on that the best way to win is to not die. I carried that knowledge onto Smite, Heroes of the Storm, Overwatch and am now trying to find the right "escape from dying" characters in Marvel Rivals. Whatever role I pick I know I can do it better if I'm not dead all the time.

I personally have no problems with this because it doesn't affect my playtime of the game at all, as I only grind the challenges and leave when I've had my fill for the day. But putting bots in Quick Match seems completely unnecessary as there's already a separate bot mode and especially when they're counting progress towards challenges and achievements in the bot-mode matches. I thought they had a weird SBMM that is unnoticeable unless you start losing consecutive matches, but it turns out they're using bots lol.
I used to play a lot of Splitgate and they used to put bots in the game only when it took too long to find enough players. Even then, you couldn't tell that easily because the bots actually scaled up with your level and could play well. Marvel Rivals really don't need to put in bots like this as the population is high enough for them to implement a moderate or healthy amount of SBMM (unlike CoD, Halo or Apex Legends).
It’s an issue if your ego is getting in the way. The reality is that you’re only going up against bots in quickplay (not competitive/ranked) if you’re getting stomped. Instead of tilting after a stomp you should be taking a break anyways but we all know we don’t so the game instead has you try and reset / reinforce better habits with a match against bots rather than drag down any of the poor teammates you’re matched up with that can’t carry you.
I found this out right away playing as spider man. Bots could find you easily when hiding in high ups spaces when they shouldn’t.

It’s the fact that u have to check and make sure if it’s bots means it’s fine. Sometimes I actually make a custom game so I get actual healers and a decent match the hard bots aren’t “hard” but they play out a match pretty well too

One small thing I noticed. If the other team has a Jeff, you will know soon if it’s bots or not. If ya go off the cliff, probably not bots. Go in circles with no real purpose while Jeff’d, bots.

I never noticed bots till as spiderman where they automatically knew where i was when the match started (payload)
Only 1 minute and 13 seconds in but the Moba mentality is actually so true, I've never played one but ever since playing Deadlock, my mentality about losing really shifted from, dang that sucks, go next. To dang that sucks, now time to learn what I did wrong and actually consciously improve. For me it's been a lot more effective then what I usually do which is brute force improving through games overtime, mixing the two is way better.
Also the best part is if you're ever too tired to think, you can still just play and learn and get better especially due to the fact you know some of the ins and outs, pretty awesome.

You mentioned the stomp part, but to me I get systematically placed against bots after 2 losses in a row even if I had a great performance and our team didn't get hard stomped. It will happen even if after those 2 games I go ranked and win and come back to quick play to get greeted by bots. So annoying cause it really doesn't help at all helping me learn how to properly play a hero.

A friend and I were playing bots, and suddenly were paired against real people. We won them(5/5) but it was crazy to look back on the match history.
I mean... I'm a strategist main, I always prioritise healing my teammates, I have my profile on private, but I'm kinda toxic from time to time in chat, especially when my team doesn't even try or go 1vs all enemies. So, the latter proves to my (probably bot) teammates that I'm not a bot, I guess 😅

So i found this out by checking third party analytics.
It got me curious, and i decided to check all of my games in which ones where bots which there were 102 matches or so. 30 percent of them were bot matches. Sometimes it would give a bot match after one loss. I had a loss where i went 26-4 as venom and tanked significant amount of damage. It was just a close game. Next lobby was still bots and i went 38-1...
Ive had bot matches even after a win streak... Okay maybe its my level? Im level 26 currently.
I thought perhaps its because of my rank? As im only silver currently as mostly played quick play due to cross platform restrictions with my friends. Who are high elo. Nope even gives bots then.
I think the algorithm must be bugged. It seems to DEFINITELY give bots if you lose two or more games in a row but it also just randomly feeds you a bot game. Also bots will be on your team sometimes

After accepting i was gutter trash and realizing that the game is supposed to be stress releiving i picked up pointers changed my mindset and climbed to plat after a 20 game win streak.
I was the bad teammate i kept thinking i got. It made so much more sense. Team based game reauires team based gameplay. Even if i feel like im better i learned to play to my teams strengths and the maps' strengths.
My greatest insult in ow2 was to tell the enemy to try *VS AI*

got 5 bot matches and got some info about it
you usually get send into a bot match if you lose 3 matches in a row, got sent once at 2 defeats and other at 4 but mostly at 3
it usually has 2-3 real players but got 1 real player and 4 real players once
about the bots behavior
they use default banners and are around lvl 1-5
always pick 2 tanks, 2 dps and 2 healers and always wait to the last second for selecting their hero
they exaggerate their roles (tanks push way to deep) and don't use their characters the way it was supposed to
if you press tab on the loading screen before the character selection you can bot check, if all enemies are around lvl 1-5 and you teammates are doing weird flicks on spawn than its a bot lobby
Ok so I checked my previous matches. I was doing constant wins and I was worried that I was fighting with bots, but fortunately they were all players. Guess I was just locked in the whole time.
After knowing this information, you just go back to the idea that you first had. Win the so obvious bot game, then go back to quickplay and learn the stuff you we're trying to do. Bot matches here and there wont throw you off now that you know when to expect a bot match would be. I've been trying to learn peni parker for rank recently in quick play, and everytime I know i've lost enough to get a bot match, I either try my techniques with peni with bots or I choose another hero that i seldom use and try to learn how they would affect my game as either enemies or allies.
If anything else, for a lot of people it helps with burn-out. If not for you, then just imagine it for people that dont usually play these games.
The easiest way to tell is they will always face you even if that means putting their back towards the rest of your team.
When they fly. They move, stop, move,stop and repeat. A normal player is constantly moving or strafing. At worse they are stationary for a long time. But the movement is never consistent
Another good way to know they're not bots: they have names like "bongsmasher69" and "ineedgothwomen"

As a casual gamer i really dont mind. Especially since the ai bots aint all that bad. Its not like call of duty bots where they just stand there and shoot you. I play fortnite too and ive always wished that game had a bot only mode.

Yeah to be fully honest the matchmaking in general for Quick play will ruin the casual nature of it for me. Already has to be honest. I also think I have a fairly realistic grasp on my skill level. Then you look at people's time play and the difference between team to team is always unbelievable to me. Then the game forces a petty win where the win doesn't feel like anything is just meh. I understand the system cause the game is 12+ after all.

Honestly I don't mind if they are putting bots in qp. It is what it is and at least gives some of the worst players a chance to have fun. If it bothers anybody so much, just play comp.
I played ranked with a group and have to solo queue in quick match while waiting for them to get on. You can be the best player in the world but you're not winning a 6v1 to avoid going against bots once in a while. Even GM players struggle carrying people in bronze and silver. They should give you an option to opt out of it, but it's supposed to be a secret so people don't know they're being given wins so they dont' quit the game, thus stop buying skins. It's a scummy retention tactic.
I actually do think that it’s a good mechanic, even if I do think that it should only come in to play if you start losing like four or five games in a row consistently, and mostly because just getting stomped 13 games in a row isn’t fun, but I also do think that the game needs an ELO system for quick play. Don’t even have it be visible, just let it exist, so that players of similar skill level get grouped together. Then you can make it an option that could be easily opted out of, and I do think that making it voluntary solves all of the problems that people have with it.

This explains A LOT as to why the player base has not gone down. People just don't like losing ad nauseum and the devs figured out a really smart way to get them thinking that they're not as bad as they actually are.
It is nice to sprinkle in Botts every now and then while having the illusion that you're playing against people to boost your Morel and not play sweaty matches all the time. I know not all people agree with this opinion but I do not want to just go into me against spots but occasionally having a bot to go against help lower the blood pressure and ease the mind LOL like you said it's not a one for one thing that you face spots and then humans and then bots.
There are other ways to know if they are bots.
1. They see and try to hit you through walls.
2. They have aimbot but purposely miss their shots sometimes, especially when ur almost dead.
3. You cant flank them they always know where you are.
4. If even a single enemy is a bot the entire enemy team are bots but if you solo queue 3 of ur teammates will also be bots.
5. They never have skins or special character pfps.
6. They sometimes ult in random parts of the map (for example jeff ults on the otherside of the map) also the jeff bot doesnt try to spit you off the map.
7. They statisticly move in straight lines in random directions.
8. If they are melee characters they tend to moonwalk away from you when ur almost dead (many occasions where a hulk stuns me, is 2 punches away from killing me then moonwalks away from me swinging at the air).
9. I literally dont think its possible to lose to them, sometimes I go afk when I realize their bots and they get washed anyway.
Btw they also will switch characters sometimes when they are losing really bad (if they do all the things above they are bots dont let them fool you), this is all I got for now I'm sure theres more but I can't remember it all, for me its extremely easy to tell when they're bots. Usually when I lose 2 games in a row (even if the 2 games were close) I pay close attention to my teammates on the third game and low and behold they move like BOTS and I already know the type of match I'm gonna endure.
Give it a year or 2 and it will be even easier to tell on the skins part cause most people will have a skin for most characters.

Another way to elevate your gameplay is to realize healers SHOULD be doing DPS. There's no need to heal damage if you kill the source of the damage instead. Healbotting puts the entire burden onto the DPS, and, that's very often unfeasible for them. That's why you see strategists routinely getting 9-18K damage once you get out of metal ranks. If that damage were something insignificant, like 2K, well then, when the enemy team strategists also have 18K each, and the DPS only managed to get 22-25K, you were essentially fighting against 2 extra people that your enemy team didn't have to. Which is why they win. Healbotting loses games unless you find that unicorn DPS that actually pops off.
@@TheModularian Honestly this just sounds like the DPS players need to be better it switch. I started playing Healer/Strategist a week ago and my friend switched from Tank to DPS, I focus heals and shoot when someone is escaping or buffing too much. It's a fine line to walk between focusing heals and attacking. Pulling in 20K heals should be normal. Damage varies.
DPS guys need to either get DAMAGE PER SECOND, or consider playing a different roll. There should be 0 matches where a Rocket gets more damage than a Punisher. Alot of DPS guys play like tanks and id rather have 3 Tanks, 2 Healers, and 1 DPS over a 2-2-2 or anything with more DPS than anything else.
TLDR: Most DPS suck and need to try out tank
This isn't OW... healers in this game aren't buffed damage dealers who can destroy u quicker than dps can lol... in this game its better to prioritize healing
I think it depends on what characters you use. The role is support not healer. While they can heal that's not all they bring to a team fight
@@TheModularian It depends. Rocket should almost never attack while Mantis should focus more on hitting than heads than keeping tanks at full.
There's a reason it's called strategist and not healer. When someone doesn't need healing you do whatever other supportive thing you can, which for most characters is dealing damage. You should aim for ZERO downtime on impacting the game. If you're getting low damage as a strategist you're most likely doing something wrong. It's more important to shoot someone than to top off your tank's 95% health unless they're getting focused.
Is there a petition or something to help address this because I would at least like the option to opt out of these matches or leave without penalty. I hate the toxic egos in competitive and I do not want to play BOTS!!!!!!!

I noticed this after another youtuber brought it up. The way the bots move is so obvious when you watch the replay. They somehow snap to a target that isn't even in their line of sight. They tend to walk in a straight line when in spawn. I understand why Rivals does this, but it's lame. I lost the love I had for Fortnite for this very reason. I hate having a phenomenal game only to realize it was bots. I'm basically stat padding with bots man lmao. It definitely helps with player retention, basically allowing everyone to experience dopamine during every play session. Losing constantly would cause so many people to put the game down but sheesh
I don’t know about you, but I, and a lot of other people in the comments, would rather lose over and over to real people than stomp some bots because an algorithm felt sorry for me.

I figured it out as well and quit the game. The only organic experience are ranked matches.
