I love the "since we're here" concept, no one likes to do the same job twice !

Yup. That’s how I am. If I’m there I’ll change other parts at the same time! Preventative maintenance too!! Check out my other videos and playlists! Lots of classic car videos

Hello, I hope you had a Merry Christmas! A while back, I replaced the water pump on my 190e. It was a longer job than I would've liked. There were 4 bolts that were holding the fan to the water pump. I thought they were Allen bolts, but was I wrong! I think they were torx. My Allen socket wrecked 2 or 3 of the bolt heads. Using a left hand drill bit and a chisel, I finally got the bolts out and the fan off. I bought 4 allen bolts with the same thread and length, but there was another problem, the head of the bolt stuck out too far, and may hit the fan. I took the bolts to a machine shop, where the machinist took some material off the rear of the bolt head where the threads are. He saved my ass. All because I didn't look close enough at the bolts in the first place... Thanks for the great video! Rob.

I assume gasket maker isn’t needed, correct? More of a preference?

You can put a thin layer of gasket maker around both sides of the gasket. Not too much though. This will for sure make it leak free forever

Small rubber mallet and tapped it all the way around, slowly
