    This is such an informative video on this wonderful and interesting fish!
    My grandmother kept Swordtails when I was about 8, and I was hooked!
    I've kept many other types of fresh water fish over the years including Cichlids, but recently purchased some gorgeous Swordtails and the memories are flooding back. I'm now a senior, and so thrilled to be raising these beautiful fish once again! Thank you for your fabulous video Mike!

    I like how you put the name of each species on the screen so we can do further research. It is nice to see the variations in the setups of these fish. Your fish look so nice. Thanks for the informative video.

    Thanks Mike! Swordtails are often overlooked, both as species fish and in species profile videos. Like Chevyfish, I enjoy seeing the name of each fish on screen. I have a Swordtail breeding project, just started a couple weeks ago. Great information. Enjoyed learning.

      Thanks Caylor's Aquatics..... I am really enjoying the wild type swords as well. I think its important to put the names up so people can do additional research.

    Nice video Mike. Great collection of swordtails you have. I agree swordtails should be in a larger tank. Mine are in 55 and 75 gallon tanks. My swordtails love the canned green beans I feed the plecos in their tanks. Thanks for sharing. Cheers

    Thank you for this video. I kept getting confused as to the size and tank size requirements as I recalled being a kid and my mom keeping them in a 10 or 20 gallon but all my research of the past few weeks saying they get 5 - 6 inches! I struggled with that memory and the written information. Now I know the proper size tank I should get. Thank you. Fish keeping information learned when I was a kid seems all wrong with what I'm researching now. I'm having to unlearn everything. Also good to know no shrimp tank mates. I hadn't read that yet.

    I have a 180 gallon with 1 severum and 5 full grown silver dollars, I was wondering if swordtails would be safe with the silver dollars and severum. I have been researching it but cannot find a definitive answer.

    • @FishTankBarn
      @FishTankBarn  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Melody! I would avoid the swordtails. Primarily with the Severum. They would eat any smaller swordtails and be really aggressive towards your adults. I actually put a video out today on it. th-cam.com/video/aqGnV_1RI3s/w-d-xo.html
